Koyomi Araragi begins the day by being rudely awoken by his sister, Tsukihi. He decides to discuss love with her, asking how one can tell if they are in love or not. It turns out that recently, he can't stop thinking about his classmate, Hanekawa Tsubasa. Later, he runs into Hanekawa, who reveals a shocking fact which he may not tell anyone else about.
Later, Araragi meets up with Oshino Meme, who quizzes him about Hanekawa. He reveals everything except the secret he was sworn not to tell, including finding and burying a silver cat with no tail. From this, Oshino warns that Hanekawa may have been possessed by an Oddity, the Curse Cat. He instructs Araragi to find Hanekawa, whilst he looks for the shallow grave they dug for the silver cat. Araragi finds Hanekawa, but things then take a turn for the worse...
Araragi, initially ignoring Oshino's warning not to involve himself any further in this incident, visits Hanekawa's house and is shocked by what he finds. He returns home and convinces his sisters not to involve themselves in the Curse Cat incident either. A few days pass and Hanekawa is still nowhere to be found. Araragi returns to Oshino to find him severely injured from his numerous encounters with the Curse Cat. Later, Araragi manges to find and talk to the Curse Cat occupying Hanekawa. Calmer and less violent now, she tells him to leave her to her own devices in order to relieve her master's stress.
Araragi begs Shinobu for her help, which she eventually provides. He then formulates a plan to confront the Curse Cat and save Hanekawa.

On the first day of Golden Week, Koyomi Araragi, together with Tsubasa Hanekawa, buries a tailless cat that was ran over by a car. A supposedly petty and commonplace event. However, the curtain rises on the “nine days of hell" that follow.

One day, Koyomi Araragi caught the body of his classmate Hitagi Senjyogahara, who was falling down after slipping on the stairs, knowing that it was dangerous to do so. However, her body was surprisingly light, as if the concept of weight did not exist.

During the summer vacation after all the apparition-related incidents around the five girls have been resolved, Koyomi Araragi's two risky younger sisters – the self-proclaimed heroes of justice, Karen and Tsukihi – become involved in some trouble.
After the graduation of Araragi and Senjougahara, Suruga alone to deal with her left hand that has been turned monsterous from her mother's monkey paw charm. After hearing rumors of a "Devil" that can solve one's problems no matter what, Suruga set out to find this person.
After having her hand healed, Suruga has many questions for her former classmate Rouka. She was unable to contact her, however a meeting with Keiki Deshu, who seems to have survived the attack from the previous season, answers some questions of hers.
Suruga realizes that the collector is in fact Rouka, and she has been collecting parts of the "devil" as she feeds off the misfortune of others. Her motives are questionable...
Rouka challenges Suruga to a one-on-one basketball match as the two discuss the events that led up to their collection of their respective "devil" parts. Suruga is still coming to terms with the ability to use her left arm again.
Upon finding the Demon's head, she meets Rouka once again. Instead of giving the head to Rouka, she refuses. She is unable to stand the sight of her because of the fact that she can see her as she is a ghost. Suruga then challenges Rouka to one-on-one basketball in a wager for the head if Suruga loses.
Koyomi Araragi and Shinobu Oshino discuss the true nature of Shikigami doll Yotsugi Ononoki, and Koyomi is being rudely woken up by his sisters who tell him to cram for his upcoming college entrance exams.
Koyomi Araragi sees that he has no reflection, and discusses this with Shinobu. She then suggests that Koyomi should see Yozuru Kagenui and Yotsugi Ononoki.
When Yotsugi tells Koyomi that he is indeed becoming a vampire, Koyomi reasons that using his vampiric powers must have come with a price. Yozuru tells him that while there is no way to undo the progress of his transformation, there is a way he can stop it from progressing further: he must no longer use his powers as a vampire. However, this turns out to be quite a challenge when he learns his sisters and Suraga have been kidnapped.
Koyomi and Yotsugi land at the base of the mountain, where they are surprisingly met by Ougi Oshino. She talks with Koyomi for a while about his current situation and his upcoming confrontation with Teori. Koyomi and Yotsugi begin their journey up the mountain.
Before the events of Bakemonogatari, Koyomi and Tsubasa delve into the mystery surrounding a stone that was enshrined into one of the school's gardens.
After Hitagi's condition is treated, she and Koyomi investigate the true reason why some flowers were left behind on a street and the school's rooftop.
After Oshino leaves the city, Mayoi informs Koyomi about a sand box whose shape resembles a devil and he decides to find out why.
After Koyomi helps Kanbaru tidying her room, he has a bath in her house, and finds out a curious story about the water of the tub.
Nadeko comes over to Koyomi's house, and is pleasantly surprised that Koyomi's parents and siblings are all absent. The two then engage in a discussion about Kaiki's curse and his means of spreading the rumor amongst the middle schoolers in town.
Karen asked Koyomi for advice regarding a mysterious grown tree that suddenly appeared on her dojo's backyard.
Tsukihi consults Koyomi regarding her Tea Club members on why her fellow members still believe in the ghostly "eight member" despite Tsukihi proving the rumor was fake.
As Ougi and Koyomi climb the mountain where the North White Snake Shrine is located, she tells him that the shrine was moved there from another mountain.
When Koyomi gets donuts from Hitagi, Shinobu tries to eat all of the donuts.
On his way home, Araragi sees Yotsugi, who asks him for help finding something.
When Koyomi asks Yozuru Kagenui about the extent of her relationship with Yotsugi, she challenges him to a fight. But then Yozuru disappears...
On Exam day, Koyomi visits the North White Snake shrine to look for Kozuru. Instead he sees Izuko Gaen there.

March 13th, the morning of college entrance exams. Koyomi Araragi has died due to Izuko Gaen. Mayoi Hachikuji was waiting for him in the afterlife, and guides him towards an unknown destination. Koyomi would have never thought that this certain someone would be waiting for him there.
Mayoi takes Koyomi to meet Teori, who offers him a way to return to the world of the living. Koyomi is in doubt about accepting his offer, as he believes others like Mayoi are more worthy of reviving than him, until he comes with a surprising decision.
Now fully human again, Koyomi is called by Hitagi for a date, as they spend some time together, Koyomi has a vision of Ougi.
Koyomi and Hitagi spend the rest of the date bonding further. Once back home, Koyomi has another encounter with Ougi.
Gaen assembles Koyomi, Shinobu, Mayoi and Yozuru and reveals that Ougi is the responsible for some of the previous ordeals they faced.
To stop Ougi from meddling further, Koyomi has a final confrontation with her.
After being exposed, Ougi is about to be engulfed by the darkness, but Koyomi refuses to give up on her and Meme reappears in the nick of time to save them.

Koyomi leaves Karen behind at home to talk with Senjougahara. Senjougahara seems to be planning on confronting and murdering Kaiki. When he comes back home, he learns Karen has wandered off, while still sick.
Araragi goes to confront Kaiki and stop him from leaving the city. But Kaiki is wiley and smart, and not easily dissuaded when there's money on the line.
Karen is acting clingy and very cute, completely out of character. But its a trick to get Koyomi to introduce her to Kanbaru. In response, he devises a test Karen must pass; a test involving her toothbrush.
While taking Karen to meet Kanbaru, Araragi is put into a compromising position. On the way, he runs into someone asking about familiar things.
Araragi agrees to take Shinobu on a trip to buy doughnuts. At the restaurant, an old acquaintance is able to give information on the town's new visitors.
As Shinobu explains how Tsukihi came to be in her currents situation. Araragi resolves to stop the out-of-towners from killing her. But unlike Oshino and Kaiki, Kagenui speaks with her fist and she talks a lot.
The first day of the second trimester, Tsubasa Hanekawa chats with the ghost girl Mayoi Hachikuji en route to school. Right afterwards, she witnesses a giant “tiger” apparition. Later that day, her house completely burns down from a fire.
Worrying about Tsubasa Hanekawa as she lost a home to return to, Hitagi Senjyogahara allows the girl to spend the night at her place. Tsubasa eats a meal prepared by Hitagi and wakes up together with her.
Suruga Kanbaru, an underclassman, came to visit Tsubasa Hanekawa now that she has resumed attending school. Apparently, Koyomi Araragi has asked for Suruga's presence tonight. Tsubasa returned to Hitagi's house without knowing what was going on.
At Hitagi Senjyogahara's discretion, Hanekawa Tsubasa ends up living under the roof of the Araragi residence. Spending an evening in Koyomi's house, Tsubasa realizes that she had turned into Black Hanekawa the previous night.
Tsubasa determined the identity of the giant tiger apparition “Kako,” and writes one long letter. The letter was addressed to Black Hanekawa, the apparition that could be described as her other personality.
On August 20th, Koyomi Araragi left his home to deliver to Mayoi Hachikuji something she had forgotten, but was unable to find her. He realized he had not done any of the homework he was supposed to do, yet tomorrow was already the term opening ceremony.
Koyomi and Shinobu unexpectedly time warped back to May 13th 11 years ago. Koyomi thinks of saving Mayoi Hachikuji, who was “destined to become a ghost after getting into a traffic accident on her way to see her mother the next day – Mother's Day."

Nadeko Sengoku's classmates are all strained thin due to the “hocus-pocus” of con artist Deishu Kaiki. Because of that, Nadeko goes to school every day with a heavy heart; but one day, she starts seeing white snakes all over the place.
Nadeko Sengoku is asked by Kuchinawa, a snake deity, to find his object of worship. Nadeko accepts and goes to junior high school during the day with Kuchinawa, who resembles a white scrunchie, while searching the town at night for the object of worship.
Nadeko spent the evening at the Araragi residence after Koyomi mistakes her for running away from home and takes her back to his place. The next morning, she talks to Koyomi's younger sister Tsukihi, a friend from back in grade school.
Nadeko finally found the object of worship. Kuchinawa, now in a good mood, tells Nadeko that he will grant her a wish. But Koyomi shows up right then and starts his attempt to convince Nadeko to let go of that object of worship.
Koyomi returned from the time warp with Shinobu. From North Shirahebi Shrine, he headed home together with Mayoi Hachikuji and returned her backpack to her. However, right afterwards, the two of them are assaulted by a mysterious “Darkness.”
With the help of Yotsugi Ononoki, Koyomi and Mayoi were able to escape from the “darkness.” Within the ruins of the cram school that they escaped to, Shinobu is consulted about the “darkness.” She starts to speak of what happened 400 years ago.
Koyomi finishes hearing the story about 400 years ago from Shinobu. Yotsugi joins them at the spot, and Mayoi wakes up from her slumber. The four of them were talking within the cram school ruins, but the “darkness” appears a second time at that location.
Koyomi and company climbed down the mountain they were hiding in after escaping from the “darkness." Upon visiting a village between the mountains, they meet Izuko Gaen and receive an explanation concerning the “darkness.”
On January 1st, Hitagi Senjyogahara makes a phone call to Deishu Kaiki, her supposed archnemesis. It was a tough decision made on her part, in order to save herself and Koyomi Araragi from their “death sentence.”
Kaiki, deciding to accept Hitagi's work request, visits the town where Koyomi and his friends live. He starts to do research on Nadeko Sengoku, the junior high school girl turned god of North Shirahebi Shrine, who is the current target of deceit.
Kaiki meets Nadeko Sengoku face to face at North Shirahebi Shrine. Nadeko's personality became a lot brighter once she became the snake god, and she starts to talk to Kaiki in a carefree manner about how she was going to kill big brother Koyomi soon...
Kaiki heads to North Shirahebi Shrine daily in order to deceive Nadeko the snake god but finds himself being followed on his way home. Furthermore, he gets a mysterious threat telling him to “pull out of this case.”
Tsubasa Hanekawa, supposedly overseas in search of Meme Oshino, suddenly approached Kaiki to talk to him. After exchanging information with Tsubasa, Kaiki gets the finishing touches ready for his preparations to deceive Nadeko the snake god.
Kaiki proceeds to deceive Nadeko Sengoku. However, Nadeko with surprising ease sees through Kaiki's lies and attacks with numerous white snakes. What will be coming last out of the tongue of a con artist near death–a lie, or the truth?
Koyomi and Ougi find themselves trapped in a classroom, and the story shifts back to the point when Suruga introduces Ougi to Koyomi. Ougi approaches him with a mystery about a room not seen in the school's blueprints for them to investigate. When they enter the room, they find themselves trapped inside, leading them to their current situation. While talking about their predicament, the duo realize that the room is an oddity created by a traumatic memory from Koyomi's freshman years. Koyomi then tells Ougi that two years prior, the class president at his and Hitagi's class at the time, Sodachi Oikura, was looking for possible culprits of cheating on a math test, and would not allow any student to leave class until a culprit was found. Ougi surmises that they themselves won't be able to leave the room until the two-year-old mystery is solved.
In the aftermath of the previous day, Araragi is about to enter his classroom when Hanekawa informs him that a student absent all year is finally attending. The story pushes further into the past, as more of “what” makes Koyomi Araragi is revealed.
Having rediscovered the room on the second floor of the ruined house, Koyomi tells Ougi of the events that happened there five years earlier.
Hanekawa reveals her concerns about Ougi as she and Araragi go to visit Oikura.
Araragi and Hanekawa visit Oikura and learn the painful story of her family's past.
Ougi claims to have figured out the whereabouts of Oikura’s mother and, in her own way, helps Araragi and Hanekawa to solve the mystery.
Koyomi Araragi waits in the ruins of the cram school to ask Suruga Kanbaru for help, a request he hopes she will refuse.
After a hurried departure from the cram school ruins, Koyomi and Suruga head toward the meeting place, only to encounter some difficulty along the way.
Having finally arrived at the meeting place, Koyomi and Suruga find an unexpected person waiting for them. Before their reunion can take place, they must face an unexpected foe!
The group relocates to the North Shirahebi Shrine where Izuko Gaen tells them the story behind the location and the effect Shinobu's first minion had on it.
Koyomi is confronted by Shinobu's first minion, the original apparition killer. But instead of starting a battle, the samurai makes a simple request.
As Koyomi prepares for his duel, he learns of the crisis that Hanekawa is facing and must decide what battle he should fight.
Yotsugi Ononoki has been infiltrating the Araragi residence to keep an eye on Tsukihi Araragi. While Tsukihi is at school, Yotsugi freely spends her time, but she is seen by Tsukihi, who suddenly comes back home.
In order to become a manga artist, Nadeko Sengoku doesn't go to school and spends her days drawing. So, her parents finally tell her to start working after graduating from middle school. As the deadline until graduation approaches, Yotsugi Ononoki proposes ways to become a manga artist.
Together with Ougi Oshino, who says, "I saw Nadeko in uniform," Nadeko Sengoku arrives at 701 Middle School, a public school, where she was sighted. Despite her anxiety, Nadeko stepped into the school. The scene she witnessed was unexpected.
Inspired by her conversation with Sodachi Oikura, Nadeko was heading to the Araragi residence to secure Meek Nadeko. However, there was a big hole around the knob of the front door, big enough for a human wrist to pass through. Meanwhile, Yotsugi, who had gone in the other direction to look for God Nadeko, was heading toward North Shirahebi Shrine.
Nadeko and Yotsugi returned to the Sengoku residence to plan a strategy for the future. Unable to take a step forward, Nadeko ponders how to secure the rest of the Shikigami Nadekos, prompting Yotsugi to remind her of her original purpose. To settle the situation and achieve their objectives, the two headed to the place for the final battle.
With the help of Yotsugi Ononoki, Nadeko Sengoku finally met God Nadeko. In front of God Nadeko, who had a creepy smile on her face, were the two "Current Nadekos." After that, the place Nadeko heads to in order to end the story is the location where Koyomi Araragi used to be.
Suicide-Master, who woke up from starvation, was told by Tropicalesque that the cause of her death was "the Beautiful Princess." Intrigued by her tale, Suicide-Master goes out to find "the Beautiful Princess" to have her as a first meal out from her slumber despite Tropicalesque's warning.
Suicide-Master, who still keeps dying, realizes that consciousness reform is needed for both the one who eats and the one who gets eaten. She watches Princess Acerola try her best to change with a smile, but Tropicalesque has a thought for his master.
Koyomi Araragi visited the hospital led by Izuko Gaen. What he saw there were two mummies lying in bed, and both of them were still alive. Izuko and Koyomi, wanting to solve this case, receive a new report that another mummy has been sighted.
Five members of the women's basketball club at Naoetsu High School go missing. According to Suruga Kanbaru and Seiu Higasa, that's not the only problem. Koyomi takes on this case and searches for the missing people with Izuko.
To revive a mummified Suicide-Master, Koyomi arrived in Heaven instead of Hell. He obtained some wonder medicine and returned to this world. He starts to revive Suicide-Master, ignoring Shinobu Oshino, Mayoi Hachikuji, and Izuko, who are concerned.
