It feels like this show is a bit under the radar, it's pretty good though. (5 episodes in)
Hope it doesn't get cancelled.
Holy shit this is good. I know there have been a lot of hitman series this year, but I think I prefer this to both Barry and Killing Eve, for instance. It's beautiflly shot, it's funny but also jarringly real and sparse. And it's only 6 half-hour episodes!
I really like this show. Ray is one evil dude but I find myself liking his style.
I love this show! I would really like to congratulate to Scott Ryan for making this. Both writing and acting are awesome.
For me it's a sick combination of Breaking Bad, The Hitman video games and Louie (2010). This last example is because it's also written by the actor himself and the main character is also a bit lowlife and antisocial. But Ray also kicks ass and funny.
Because of this show I actually started to enjoy Australian accent! It makes it even more interesting. Yeah, mate! :)
Season 1:
From the mind of Scott Ryan, who previously tried to bring this character to life himself in his own feature film 'The Magician'. He manages to produce this story of family-loving and confident hitman Ray Shoesmith, into a fantastic Aussie comedy-drama series. The story-telling, character arcs, and cinematography are all really well done here. Not to mention almost all the acting is on point, especially from Scott himself. I'm glad to see this Australian-made show get a lot of traction in the US. As it is rightfully deserved. Very funny, smart, and graphic, this show is a new favourite and is just the right length for a solid binge. I am very much looking forward to the second season next year.
Season 2:
The journey continues in this amazing and more emotional second season. Planned down to the smallest detail. It finds itself being the same level of quality as the first season. Fantastic writing is still the star of the show and I love every second of the dialogue. I'm very excited for Season 3.
Season 3
What an ending. Couldn't think of a better way to finish off this great series than what they did for Ray's character growth here. Superb stuff really. Still astonishing how much story they manage to fit into 20-30 minute episodes. Never ever felt like it left me unsatisfied. Sad to see it go, but happy to see it conclude.
Seasonal Rating:
Season 1 - 9/10
Season 2 - 9/10
Season 3 - 9/10
Overall Rating: 9/10
Sad that it was the last season... But loved the ending :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I really, really enjoyed this. Scott Ryan was fantastic and bought "Mr Inbetween" to life. The humour is great, the action is phenomenal and the acting is brilliant! This has possibly one of my favourite TV Show endings ever. 10/10
I loved the chemistry between Ray, Gary and Dave, their conversations were funny and really enjoyable, I wanted to befriend them.
Anti-Hero’s make for good television.
— The Dexter franchise was centered on a serial killer; who hid in plain sight and found his victims as an employee in Miami Metro Homicide.
— Breaking Bad followed an obscur high school chemistry professor thru the ranks of the international organized drug trade.
— On The Soprano’s, we learned that even Mob bosses deal with real world issues and have a human side.

Austrailia has entered the Anti-Hero the sweepstakes with an interesting three season series that recently finished it’s American Run on the FX Network.
Scott Ryan portray’s the central character of Ray Shoestring; a former convict and a current gangster who over the course of the series balances being a good dad to his daughter; a reliable friend to long term relationships and proves himself to be a contract killer for hire with limits and a consience.
This is a show that balances shoot’em ups, exhausting weekend daddy duty of a teenage girl and the responsibilities of being a care giver for a life long friend in the advanced stages of Multiple Sclerosious.
This series packs a lot of comedy and drama into each of it’s 30 minute episodes. I highly recommend it.
Really excellent watch. Acting and storylines are perfect, has you laughing and crying and waiting in disbelief. Only 26 halfhour episodes for a perfect binge session.. One of the best shows I've watched.
We started watching this only because a YouTube reviewer claimed it was better than Breaking Bad - what the hell was HE thinking! This is just putrid lowlife Aussies living their scummy lives. Utter garbage and not a touch nearly as brilliant as Breaking Bad.
Starts as a show about a hired gun. After a few episodes you start to feel for the characters. The last episode had me sobbing like a baby. Very well written and acted.
Why did they end a show that still had a fee seasons at least left in it?
Only just discovered this little gem, why isn't everyone raving about it ?
Best thing I've watched in a long time.
Quite enjoyable series. If you like series like Banshee, Justified and Barry, deffo give this a try. Quite short episodes, so a whole season is gone before you know it.
Season 3 is the last and has a pretty decent ending to it.
One of the best series I've seen in a long time, I binged it in a few days.
Best Aussie show I've watched in many decades. Get on it, you won't regret it.
Started watching this without any knowledge of what it was. I was pleasantly surprised!
The whole series has a kind of “Mike from Breaking Bad but the Australian version” vibe. If you’re like me and would love a Mike spinoff, definitely give this one a go.
30 mins per episode. Grossly underrated crime series. It covers the life of a 'hitman' and family commitments. He is more like a small-time muscle than a hitman. His sense of values is very primaeval.
Fantastic show from start to finish. Also great to see Natalie Tran again, albeit in a small role.
omg did they just cancel this awesome show.
Just the dogs bollocks, belief me watch this show......
