Vera is such an underrated character. The rawness of his hate, anger, and depravity is boundless. The acting was brilliant. Honestly, deserves more screentime of not for the fact we all hate him which is a testament to how good he is in this role.
Amazing performances all around once again. Props to the actors for having it in them and to Esmail for getting it out of them. Granted, none of the plots were advanced much, but that hardly matters when you can deliver what this outing delivered.
The sub-plot with the drug dealer is boring & waste of time. This episode was so damn slow. Hope next one is better.
This is just an incredible season. When I start watching the whole World disappears and I'm drawn into the story. Brilliant! It better not be two years until season 5.

These past few episodes have done an amazing job with making me feel uneasy. Been a long time since a show’s done that.

This one loses the streak this season has built and it's because it feels as though it misunderstands that Mr. Robot has evolved past the antics we may have seen in the previous seasons. Although Vera was a good character to motivate Elliot in previous seasons, I don't feel as though he's been utilized properly to match this season's themes yet. It might still be on the horizon, but I'm skeptical.
To see what I mean even further, compare the plots that Darlene and Elliot go through in this episode. While Darlene is dealing with being Dom's hostage, Elliot is exploiting Olivia (the best new character of this season, hands down). Darlene's narrative here feels thin. She's holding out information to protect her brother from Dom who's working reluctantly for the Dark Army. A good setup, for sure. But the execution is quite hollow: Dom wants the phone, can't get it, is instructed to shoot Darlene. Darlene, in order to protect her brother and herself, bargains with Dom who is in turn just trying to protect her family. But it doesn't feel like it ever possesses the spirit of these two characters. It runs the same beats for the long while, just biding time until the episode ends.
But Elliot and Olivia actually fall more clearly in line with the themes. It's about Elliot using the same exploits he's been using, but now it's against someone the show has empathized with, turning the audience's critical eye against Elliot. Game of Thrones wishes it could have done this well. When Esmail is doing this good of a job being self-critical, every other plot starts to feel ever so slightly hokey. It's clearly setting up another big conflict in the next episode, but I was disappointed by this one because of the range in quality between the subplots.
it's really sad seeing Elliot in pain crossing the line but he's got no choices anymore. this show gets better episode by episode.
Being sandwiched between two unforgettable episodes causes this one to be quite underrated, but this is arguably one of the best episodes in the series, as the tension is held nearly as taut as possible, we see a relatively rare cinematography trick that we haven't seen in the series yet (and I haven't come across since watching the original Top Gun film a week or two ago), and the urgent tasks at hand remain the focus, leading to some steady and satisfying pacing throughout the runtime.
Also, upon rewatching this, while at the time "did Elliot really drug Olivia" was a hot-button question among the Mr. Robot fanbase, I find the answer to actually be irrelevant, which makes this episode far more enjoyable. Olivia and her well-being isn't the point of that particular plot point, it's showed the depth to which Elliot has descended.

I believe Vera dilutes the tense main plot. I'm far too invested in the main plot to care what Vera is doing. That's some side quest feels like a filler.
I feel real bad for Olivia though.
