Today's episode was brutal to watch, with the reunion of Paul and Rudeus really going haywire. Although I understand why Paul would be so upset with Rudeus seemingly "goofing off adventuring with a cute girl," while he was struggling for over a year to find any trace of his family who disappeared during the mana cataclysm (minus Norn), it's still pretty shitty of him to pin blame on Rudeus, who was on his own in an unknown continent, struggling day after day to help Eris come back home to her family. I feel bad for Rudeus, who know feels like complete trash after learning that his family has disappeared for nearly 2 years without him knowing with him doing absolutely nothing (tbf he couldn't known) to help in the search. Hopefully things between Paul and Rudeus patch up, but man is it looking rough with how disgusted Paul became at the sight of his own son, even attacking him because he casually mocked him while having no awareness of the scale of the mana cataclysm. At least things ended on a bittersweet note with Eris comforting Rudeus as he sat in bed, feeling miserable about everything.
Also, regarding the animation, I really liked the fight between Paul and Rudeus (before they learned their identities), the drunken, animalistic fighting style Paul adopted really showed how rough things have been in his psyche, with him losing a sense of his humanity as he's hopelessly searched for any of his other family members. It perfectly showed how hardened he's become after the cataclysm event. Also, the way Rudeus easily defeated Paul during the second fight, perfectly reacting to his predicted movements, perfectly conveyed how much stronger Rudeus has become since their last meeting.
