Breaking Brad reminds me a bit of seminal A Dark Quiet Death episode from the first season (1x05). There is just so much going on here.

Brad's character arc is revealed. He is not a ruthless money man, but a protector of the Mythic Quest franchise (new Kate, his childhood pig). His brother Zack has a strong Laurie Bream (venture capitalist) of HBO's Silicon Valley vibe. Seemingly on your side, but not to be trusted. Complicating the matter is Jo, who must now choose between the alpha or her conscience.

The b-pilot involving Rachel is also a revelation. She is so consumed by the victimhood, she fails to see, or even know what to make of, an opportunity when it so obviously presents itself.

When Ian admits that he can’t drive the car, he totally transitions into Mac for a minute

Rachel, my god, what an obnoxious empty shell of a human.

HA! this was one of the funniest episodes to me, I couldn't stop laughing at how awful and nasty everyone was to each other. And also I love that this show got rid of the classic character tropes, and is introducing new ones and playing around with them in creative ways, like Rachel or Jo, I feel like in a different context they would be very unlikeable but they work!

The scene with Brad talking to himself in the bathroom, oh my god.
