Vikingane (Vikings) is an epic and humorous drama series set in the Viking Age. The year is 790 and for six episodes we follow the everyday life of the Vikings in the village Norheim. Between power struggle, raids and battles in a tough time offers life of good friendship, celebration and love, while being challenged by new modern trends with the introduction of soft values and art, bickering and jealousy, relationship problems and troublesome sibling relationship we know from modern times.
Arvid and the Vikings from Norheim come home with a big change from another trip to the west, while handless Jarl Varg and his soldiers struggle to find something to rob in the east. The conflict between them reflects when they meet in the market, and the tankers cook at the earl. Orm, Rufus and Liv are heading for Rome, but on the journey they meet on an old reputation that gives them a new course. The soldiers of Jarl Varg struggle with aftermaths from the raid in Norheim, and want changes in Vargnes.
It is called for a seminar at Jarl Varg. His leadership style is up for discussion and new values are to be staggered. The romance flourishes between Arvid and Frøya, but an old flame pops up and sticks into the wheels for the relationship. The dissension of the trelleleir grows, and Kark is forced to choose the side between the new and the old trellis. Jarl Varg walks new ways to get the map to West. Arvid finds a new source of income in the concept of protection costs.
Jarl Varg demands a new pair of hands but finds that metalworking has advanced only so far by the year 791. The other slaves hurt Orm's feelings.
A murderous plot against the Law Speaker returns Orm and Rufus to prominence in Norheim. Peasant farmers object to Arvid's new "protection money" tax.
A peasant revolt is short-lived. Arvid is a fugitive after violating the peace of the Thing. Frøya suspects Orm and Rufus of plotting with Jarl Varg.
