Being healthy is being sexy
The overall moral is that body image shouldn't be everything but lets be honest: it kind of is, in our society. The plot was a bit thin, I admit, especially on the 'common' kdrama tropes side but the drama did put their own spin on it frequently. Putting that aside, however, the moral displayed throughout was pretty inspirational. I can't say: 'Watch this drama. It's mind blowing and has a amazing story that you can't predict.' What I CAN say is: 'It's cute, fluffy, and adorable. Do watch this if you want some fun, bickering romance that is organic and is a genuinely healthy relationship.' At the end of the day, sometimes I just like some classic fare and OMV does just that with the added bonus of So Ji Sub and Shin Min Ah.
The other is the constant reminder that Kang Joo Eun was a Venus in her teens and therefore with good determination she could get back to her older self. I think young people should know that it's not possible to compete with your past, but only with your present. So trying to set a goal based on how slim is you were at 16 now that you are 30 will simply frustrate you.
Also, this drama tried to touch so many topics....dieting, exercising, stalking, abuse, friendship, romance, work issues, loyalty and long term injuries (of the body and of the soul). Although its dragged out a bit more than what its worth (a 3 hour long movie or 10 episode mini-series) ; its pleasantly enjoyable especially when you are looking for light rom-com inbetween series political dramas like Six Flying Dragons.
I recommend to watch this drama at least once; especially due to the chemistry between So Ji Sub and Shin Min Ah and their fluffy romance. I must admit i have never seen this much PDA in any other korean series (although its not western level) ; it was pleasant nonethless.
Would probably have enjoyed this much more in my kdrama-noob days :')
This show made me laugh and cry so much.
A few things I wish they’d elaborated on more; like the relationship between Kim and his step-mother and -brother, Mr. Min’s as well as JS’s backstories, and a few more things to tie-up.
Such a lovely series except that it dragged out too much and I fast-forwarded the last three episodes; otherwise this show had SOLID ACTING and the pace, overall, is great. There’s a lot of chemistry between all the couples, which is why I didn’t really mind the dragged-out bits too much.
Will watch over and over! My second favorite k-drama ever!
I think this drama would have worked better in a shorter format, maybe 12 episodes instead of 16? And we could have cut the whole thing with the exes (ex friend and ex boyfriend). They both had kinda sucky personalities and their story line wasn't very interesting at all.
However, overall this drama was very cute and between the leads' chemistry and the bromance, I enjoyed it a lot. Shin Min Ah's dimples are utterly adorable, and this show had a lot of bare chests and skinship! It's always a treat to see a main couple who looks comfortable together and all the hugs and little toches. Even if it's thoroughly innocent, it's always so nice to get those glipses of physical closeness.
But the best part, for me, was Herny Lau. He completely stole every scene he was in. His sunny disposition and mishmash of Korean and English were so cute! The true MVP.
