Elisha Cuthbert was the only reason I started watching because I loved her in Happy Endings. Her character 'Lizzy' is almost offensive, particularly for a show that could transcend a good, positive message to people of the LGBTQ community.
It's obvious that this show won't make it past season one.
Was excited to see this as I was a big fan of Happy Endings and was hoping this would have a similar style, but I was pretty let down by the writing. A lot of the jokes were really cheesy. The laugh track was a bit much too. I'll give it a couple more episodes, but hopefully it will get better.
Came for Elisha Cuthbert and I was disappointed it only had 6 episodes.
After the pilot I understood why, and I think 6 episodes is even too many. Really bad writing and situational sketching, I feel sorry for the actors who played in this sham.
Overacted. Overly dramatic. Obnoxious laughtrack. No funny jokes, they fall flat all the time. Often because of lame stereotype jokes no one laughs about in reality anymore.
Is it by accident that the female, lesbian main character Lizzy is wearing similar stuff that Ellen DeGeneres wears? No? I didn't think so. There's more Ellen than Lizzy in this show. Not that this is bad on its own.
I like the premise. It's controversial and a newer version of "The Odd Couple" concept that generally could work today, in opposite of the "reboot" with Matthew Perry. But not how this is worked out here.
Given the premise I find it subtly offensive how the male character plays the dumbass here. The premise doesn't need it and by doing so it decreases the value of this show and its ability to give a social comment.
Cut back on at least half of the awful jokes and establish the underlying, actually believable concept and make fun of its obstacles, especially those given from the society around the characters. You could debunk all the prejudices easily. That would make the show good.
And while you're at it, give some brain to the only male main character, would you? Thanks.
so bad that its actually 'good'. true car-crash TV. a comedy that plays like a mugging.

I am kind of surprised by the 'bad' comments on this show, although comedy shows are mostly underrated. I think One Big Happy is one of the better comedies. I started watching this show because 1. Ellen DeGeneres is Executive Producer and 2. Elisha Cuthbert. And it surprised me in a good way. I love the show, I really do.
