Wow. Best pilot I've seen in a long time. To have me this interested in a show after one episode is surprising; let's hope the rest of the season is this good!
Really feels like Breaking Bad, except the premise is a bit more progressive. Acting‘s fine. Pace feels fast.
Always keep the flyers in your pocket
CAN NOT BELIEVE she cheated on jason bateman with that old man
83 | What a thrilling pilot episode. Just right into the small conflict then not long after that bigger conflict arise. It was Marty Bryde versus time. It is interesting that Ozark did not start with Marty first illegal doing, but he had already done it for many years. Just right from his first appearance Del already intimidating and even he is not the main boss. Anyways, Laura Linney who played Wendy Bryde gave an amazing performance in this episode. Ozark is just like Breaking Bad but with better family communication.

This pilot has me interested in this show. Man the way Marty finessed his way out of death, thanks to his buddy Bruce cheating 8 million out of Del, by Marty completely bullshitting about this place Ozark and its potential for money has me fascinated about this man. Apparantly Marty is a master at making money dissapear too, according to Del, i cant wait to see more of what this Marty guy can do. Also man, Marty is an emotional wreck, though it makes sense, I mean his wife of 20 yrs has been cheating on him, then theres the fact that as stuff got serious w/Marty needed to get Del his 8mil back in 48hrs his wife Wendy backstabbed Marty and tried to withdraw money to get away, and now Marty is stuck trying to make his lie a reality by washing 8 million for Del in Ozark to prove he's not lying. Also man fuck Wendy, she clearlly knew beforehand that Marty was in a money ,laundering scheme, yet she went and backstabbed Marty the second things got dangerous, also she was sleeping with another man too, she's such a hateable character right now. Also, man Del is a scary man, its clear he has alot of power over everyone in this show, and he's clearly someone you dont want to mess with. Man, hearijng about how he had no idea if Bruce and the guys stole money from him and was just fishing for a confesion the whole time was intense, he's such an intimidating character who I cant wait to see more of. Also, why the hell would you marry and have kids with someone when your living this kind of life, what was Marty thinking.
Feels like jet fueled intensity. Wasn't expecting something like this to get right to the meat that quickly, but I'm glad it did. Bateman is a really solid director. And anything that ends with Radiohead gets a bump from me.
this episode is really interesting, it’s very well written.
PROMISING! Wasn't expecting this many twists from a pilot episode. I could be wrong, but it feels like one of those shows where it would be criminal to binge it and not savor and enjoy it over a relatively long period. Hehe.
Good start to the show. It has my attention. It's surprisingly dark to start. Living in Missouri and having a place at the lake of the ozarks make me feel like I can relate but I think they are over exaggerating the amount of tourists and money down there.
You see, I think most people just have a fundamentally flawed view of money.
Is it simply an agreed-upon unit of exchange for goods and services? (...) Or is it an intangible? Security or happiness. Peace of mind. Let’s me propose a third option. Money as a measuring device. You see, the hard reality is how much money we accumulate in life is not a function of who’s president or the economy or bubbles bursting or bad breaks or bosses. It’s about the American work ethic. The one that made us the greatest country on Earth.
It’s about bucking the media’s opinion as to what constitutes a good parent. Deciding to miss the ball game, the play, the concert, because you’ve resolved to work and invest in your family’s future. And taking responsibility for the consequences of those actions. Patience. Frugality. Sacrifice. When you boil it down, what do those three things have in common? Those are choices. Money is not peace of mind. Money is not happiness. Money is, at its essence... that measure of a man’s choices.

Damn! This is so fucking bueno
With great acting and a thrilling narative, episode one shows great promise for Ozark.

79 | Jason Bateman nailed his directorial in this episode. The intensity slowly rises up until the end. Del easily stole this show with his intimidation technique and how he made his words. Ozark started in the middle of Marty's illegal activity as a money launderer. A show that comes close to this probably Breaking Bad, but the difference was the main character in Ozark already developed as a criminal. Besides that, the color grading fit the tone of the story, blue as sadness with a dark theme.
