Three young teenagers, Sean Hayden, his best friend, Roy McDermott and Sean's kid sister, Tori, leave the drabness of the suburbs, for Paradise Beach, in search of sun, surf and fun, where relationships are quickly established and friendships formed.

Kirk takes a love-struck Tori on an all-day sight-seeing trip of Paradise Beach and Lisa is reunited with Cooper Hart, but Tom is suspicious of Lisa's old friend, and invites him to stay at the house.

Cassie warns Tori not to become too involved with Kirk, while Grommet tries to avoid going home to his unhappy domestic situation by telling Anna he is staying with a friend.

Cooper plants seeds of doubt in Tom's mind about his relationship with Lisa and the mystery surrounding Cassie's mother deepens.

She is excited when the move pays dividends and she gets a glamorous job on a commercial. It all comes crashing down when Tom learns of Kirk's scheme and puts an end to it. Tori then turns on Kirk, blaming him for everything.

Sean is hurt by Cassie moving into David Finn's houseboat. Loretta wonders if there's something going on between Cassie and David. Tom is still worried and anxious about Cassie...until he finds out David's involvement. Tom sees David as a very suitable alternative for Cassie. Suddenly all his anxieties evaporate. Loretta goes on a blind date and is pleasantly surprised.

Nick takes Grommet on an overnight kayaking and camping trip and discusses Grommet's expectations of a relationship between Nick and Anna. Loretta goes out on a date with Patrick and hardly notices Roy leaving her Mother's house. Cassie is very saddened by Sean's behavour.

Roy has an explanation for his odd behaviour. He's fallen in love again. His best mate, Sean, cannot believe his ears—this time he has really fallen for the wrong person and the consequences are too enormous to contemplate.

Vanessa returns to Paradise Beach and becomes the prime suspect in the scare campaign against Cassie.

Tori's 18th birthday is full of surprises and one of them is the arrival of her parents.
