this episode is fantastic! it’s a pleasure to see the whole cast reunited and i love donna so much <3 ugh i’m gonna miss this show :(
[7.1/10] Lots of solid stuff in this one. Donna and Joe’s wedding makes a nice backdrop for everything. The main story, featuring Leslie trying to help Ben decide whether to run for congress, was interesting. I like that Leslie was trying to stay neutral while really wanting him to do it, and Ben worrying about whether there’s space in their lives for it. Them getting drunk is a bit of convenient thing (though Leslie singing “867-5309” was a hoot) and Ben finding the confidence and conviction to run when confronted by the press was a nice moment. Plus, Jennifer Barksdale is always a treat, and Leslie and Ben feting their nanny (Rachel Dratch) was entertaining as well.
While I like the idea of the story with Ron, Tom, and Lucy -- which features literal Ron spilling the beans about the intensity of Tom’s feelings in a way that might scare Lucy off -- the conflict ends up being a little boilerplate sitcommy. That said, I like Tom witholding snacks from Ron in frustration, and Ron’s message to be direct about one’s feelings. It still seems like they’re throwing arbitrary obstacles in front of Tom and Lucy, but it was decent enough.
Last but not least, as the comic relief, April holding down the Meagle drama was good shtick. I like the glimpses we’ve get of the Meagles as contentious, and the bits with Genuine and Queslove showing up as relatives was quite funny. Plus, Jerry gets his real name back! Go Gary! (And Ron’s “control yourselves, Girgiches!” was great.)
Overall, a nice episode to cement the next step for Team Knope-Wyatt.
Oh boy, I love Donna so much, she's so awesome. I wish I was her ♥
