Crossing bridges and traversing extreme tracks, discovering Aurora Australians and many more iconic destinations…this is one episode you do not want to miss!
Pat explores the magnificent eastern Kimberley region. Starting off in Kununurra and heading off to Purnalulu National Park, Pat traverses through the incredible El Questro Gorges before getting a birds eye view of the magnificent Bungle Bungle range. 2017 proved to be one of the wettest summers in the Kimberley since records began in 1900 and this made for some extremely challenging water crossings and an abundant amount of wildlife around every corner of the winding tracks. Pat then circles back to Kununrra and finishes off with a party in the Kimberley capital at the Ord Valley Muster. Filled with amazing scenery and spectacular tracks it’s an episode not to miss.
This top end adventure conitues starting with a climb up Saddleback Ridge, and a cruise on the lake they call the "Jewel of the Kimberley". Then Pat crosses the state border to explore some of the Northern Territory's best kept secrets.
Episode 6 takes us from Kakadu to Cobourg. With a dawn start at the croc free Gunlom infinity pool, this episode heads deep into the heart of Kakadu following the muddy tracks up to Australia’s premier fishing destination; the Coburg Peninsular on the far North Coast. To get up North, we then hop onboard a sunset cruise across the billabong, explore the Kakadu world famous rock art sites, take a hike up to the Nadab Lookout and cross plenty of water crossings, before we reach our destination… Port Essington.
Follow Pat and the team on this remote and breathtaking journey to Nhulunbuy. Starting off in Darwin, we head off for the long drive down to Katherine, before heading up highway 24 to get to the Gove Peninsular. From here we will explore the southern coastline of Arnhem Land; walk along Macassan Beach, stop at Cape Arnhem and experience the spectacular Bawaka homeland. What an adventure as we explore the most remote corners of Arnhem Land, meeting fascinating locals who show us how to fish the traditional way and feed their pet crocodile. Arnhem land proves to be an astonishing combination of cultural heritage and challenging tracks!
Taking my family on a memory making trip north to Cape Tribulation we head along the toughest track in the cape…the Old Coast Road. This trip is infused with cultural trips, historic ruins, and no trip to the Cape is complete without a stop off at the legendary Lions Den hotel, fishing off Elims Beach and wheel lifting tracks that challenge any 4 wheel driver.

Join Pat as he adventures from Bylong to the Blue Mountains, some of the most spectacular regions close to a capital city you’ll ever find. Pat has invited his good mate and driver trainer John Eggenhuizen from Getabout Training to show us some seldom seen and very spectacular locations not far from Sydney. at and John meet with Bruce Kerney from Bylong Creek 4x4 Park, an off-road haven nestled amongst the sandstone cliffs. Pat really tests the Amaroks and his own skills out on some 'interesting' tracks around the property and imparts a few cooking and tech tips over night. The drive takes them up Hands Trail up on the Newnes Plateau via a couple of side tracks John shares, before the last stop at Dargan’s Creek.

Back out again in the Outback in this week for the Northern Territory Waterhole Run – a loop around Litchfield National Park stopping at all the amazing waterfalls, water holes and new 4X4 tracks along the way. Starting from Adelaide River before entering Litchfield National Park, Pat experiences all that is old and all that is new, including a newly minted track – the Central Valley 4X4 track! Pat then heads over to Arnhem Land for some wild buffalo mustering. You heard that right, Pat mustering Buffalo! It’s an episode full of awesome tracks – with a chance to wash off the dust everyday.
This week Pat takes you to the Kimberley’s. But not as you may know it, this is a trip all about revealing the secrets of the Kimberley’s. Where abouts exactly? You need to watch to find out. All we can say is the journey will be focusing on the Eastern Kimberley, all within 150kms of Kununurra. There will be vastly contrasting landscapes and tracks in this episode, from landscapes that mimic an African savannah land through to amazing waterholes and waterfalls surrounded by palm trees! So, this week, Pat is attempting to find out by checking out whether his visit to Mt Isa will make him that much more Aussie! This part of Australia isn’t just rodeo country, it’s also 4X4 country. It has everything you could want on a 4X4 adventure – 4X4 crossings, hill climbs and a view that just keeps getting better and better! There's plenty to explore – local hills, the old mining town Mary Kathleen, Lawn Hill National Park past the Gregory River, Camooweal and of course, Mt Isa – but the tracks only the locals know about. It’s time to see Outback Queensland in all its glory!
It was only a few months ago that there was a name change to Fraser Island – K’gari, which from the Butchalla people means ‘Paradise’. We can’t think of a better fitting name, as if we are to name the 4X4 paradise in Australia or even the world, it has to be this place. From the world’s biggest sand island to little chasms and tracks to take your 4X4 and a breathtaking view at every stop, this paradise has it all. There is even Inskip point. It may just look like a stretch of sand, but it has been the undoing of many 4x4ers. What does Pat suggest to ensure you don’t end up on the ‘I got bogged at Inskip Point’ Facebook page? Ever heard of the Seven Valleys? This week, Pat brings along a mate with some strange bush talents! The boys are met with swollen rivers, some challenging tracks and scenery that will have you weak at the knees and wanting to drive these tracks with your own fourby.

After tying a bow on the episode at the iconic Dargo Hotel, we hit the road again. Pat heads to the Eyre Peninsula for yet another epic adventure. When it comes to big hitting 4×4 destinations, you typically don’t think of South Australia. However, the Eyre Peninsula may just change your mind. In fact, we’d go as far as to say it’s an absolute 4x4 playground! This episode, Pat is driving the V6 Ford Ranger, with the Ezytrail Ceduna in tow.
We continue to journey west, towards the Nullarbor. But not before exploring the Great Australian Bight. Here we found more of the stunning and utterly desolate postcard-blue beaches. We soaked up the history and the sun. And we tackled dune after dune without coming close to getting sick of it.
Next up was the Nullarbor, hell-bent on proving once and for all the Nullarbor is a destination – not a thoroughfare. I reckon we smacked it out of the ballpark. After you see what we got up to, there’s no way you’ll be able to do the crossing without taking every left and right turn just as we did. The adventures are all right there, just waiting to be had. Don’t believe us? Just wait until you see the things we found.
Finally, we reached the west coast. The fruits of our labour instantaneously became more than worth it. Reflecting back upon the journey, one can’t help but be taken aback by the sheer size and beauty of this incredible country. Now hold on to your snatch-straps because we're going to come right out and say it... no state or territory showcases Australia’s beauty, size or off-road adventures quite so well as Western Australia.
