why is a literal shadow with two eyes and a mouth making me so emotional.
this anime makes you fall for e v e r y character because they're just so easily lovable, and keeps you ON EDGE. thinking. who's gonna DIE, AAAAAAH
there's many times where i'm left both feeling angry for a character but also sad, and it all just so balances out so well, it's hard to explain, but it was very well executed
a step mom Queen, who doesn't hate the prince and only loves her own child (of the same blood) AND is such an amazing and lovable character? i love her
also! Ousama King's artstyle feels very similar to Studio Ghibli for me, and this is how i imagine an anime would look like if it was made by the studio
& op 2 is simply too beautiful and so, so well made, from the camera movement, that gives it that realistic & cinematic feel as if you're watching an actual movie, to the shot selections, loved it. so much.
the way they showed both Bojji and Kage's backgrounds briefly in the second opening, AAAAAAAAH
not to mention ending 1 by Yama is a masterpiece,
this anime was full of wholesome moments, as well as sad ones too; since start to finish, i've loved it with all my heart
Please update for season 2
Presumed by its curiously simple art style, the fantastical world of Ranking of Kings is unique in that it's elements are revealed matter-of-factly in a way that makes it just as lovable for non-fantasy fans; so thorough and cohesive that there's no suspension of disbelief needed. Even the simple characters prove themselves with twists upon twists that keep the show an expanding, amazing story. But the ending is nonsense, and just serves more disappointment by the impossible amount of suspense built up leading to it.
I loved this one so much! The ending is not perfect but I can live with it. Love all the character and definitely cried some tears.

Ranking of Kings is a life lesson!
Not only is it a quite original anime with its particular character design.
The young prince Boji teaches us that no matter how hard the life is, no matter how much people make fun of you, you must always keep smiling and move forward to achieve your goal.
It is not because everyone tells you that it is impossible and that you will never succeed that it will necessarily be the case.
Boji has proven us that if you put enough effort and willpower, nothing is impossible!
This is not the only thing that this series teaches us.
It also discusses the theme of forgiveness and friendship.
After the betrayal of Domas, can and should Boji forgive him?
After all those bad things Miranjo has done and after all those things she has endured, is it really impossible to forgive her?
These are really interesting questions that the anime is dealing with.
This anime is a real jewel, you will not be disappointed to discover it.
