At dawn on Sunday, April 25th, 1915 an Allied army of many nationalities lands on the Gallipoli peninsula. Some land easily. Many are killed on the beaches by Turks who knew they were coming and have been waiting for them. It is a terrible Sunday.
The landings are a disaster. Nowhere have the armies gone inland. The Turks have fought ferociously. Now begins nine months of agony for both sides. The Allied armies trying to break out of their beachheads, the Turks determined to fight for every yard.
