I really enjoyed watching this. Too bad it was cancelled. Would have loved to see more!
I actually enjoyed watching this TV series. Improvements could be made in areas but overall the show just wasn't being produced to its full potential. Although it had a great plot.
Best show ever. Going to miss it.
I'm really sad this show got canceled. I was really hoping to see a second rise to power by the Sebastian "Bass" Monroe. Only this time his empire controlling the entire eastern seaboard, not just the northeast. R.I.P. Revolution, you truly will be missed. Another instance of NBC canceling a show for no reason, other than to insert another show of equal or lesser caliber into it's time slot, with the flawed hope it will reign in better ratings.
There is a ridiculous amount of self-justification about liking the show going on, in this thread and in general. Almost every person who "likes" it, is quick to point out how they think the premise makes absolutely no sense, but then follow that up with, "... but it's so cool, let's see what they do to explain it." That implies that the writers planned this bizarre setup, in order to give the viewer an explanation for these issues in later episodes.
I don't know how someone can have make the criticisms about the show many are making and then turn around and say it's a good show. If the writers base the show in our physical universe, electricity can't disappear. It is possible to knock out electricity temporarily, and ruin electrical devices with something similar to an EMP. But electricity doesn't disappear forever, it exists all around us, not just in things we plug into the wall. It's a plot hole, from bad writing.
And that doesn't even factor in how apparently none of the survivors are aware of anything that happened in the world prior to electrical technology. Combustion works, because bullets work. Steam power works, because... well because it does. But no one on the entire planet is aware of this. I guess there was a global conference for people with working brains around the time of the incident and they were all in planes when the electricity went out. All the smart people are dead.
Maybe that's the explanation! This show is about what would happen if only stupid people survived. It's Idiocracy with swords!! :)
For me, the first season had ups and downs. The beginning was a bit slow, I remember enjoying the Pilot but the following episodes were a bit slow-paced, which may be the reason why a lot of people said it had "bad writing", though I don't agree.
I mean, a lot of shows have a premise like that and take a while to explain... in LOST, the true reason for the plane crash was only explained towards the end of season 2!! Either way, they already revealed why the power went out, but people dropped it in the beginning.... if I dropped shows because of the premise, I would have missed many of my favourite ones.
I'm not saying that it's perfect, it does have a lot of flaws and some details that I don't like, but like I was saying, it had its ups and downs along the season, I liked the parallel stories (specially when they were about Neville, great Giancarlo Esposito :P) and it got way more interesting in the second half. I had mixed feelings about the finale, though.. the whole Randall thing was weird.. and I refuse to believe what Neville has accomplished in the last two episodes. (Plus, can't Monroe be reached by bullets or what?? That was impossible.. I know it's for the sake of the plot, but those guys suck at aiming :S)
Really? This show has turned out to be misrable. Each episode is about the same thing - kill someone, revenge, a very long walk, monroe/rachel/miles arguing. And also after someone has been killed, lets just introduce someone new to kill. This show simple didn't develop into something - it was merely a never ending loop with a few episodes to expand it. Just like 'The Event' and 'Flashforward'. I'm glad this show finished. I just waited for an ending. Hopefully it will wrap things up properly!
I've seen all the first season with less and less hope at every episode.
At the end : It's one of the worst show I've seen. I'd hope for a good post-apocalystic, steam-punk show and I have a bad soap with mousquets and sabres.
A face/palm every 10 minutes. The explanation of the desapearence of the electricity is not the problem, but WHY everyone forget about steam ? About Diesel engine ? and others ? In one of the episode Monroe was happy because they can repair a steam train... 10/15 year for that ???
And the end of the season ! I hope it's a joke because it's really ashamed.
Every bad movies' "cliché" are in this show. Perhaps it's the writers' will : mentionned every "clichés" and see if there is enough people to like the show.
Is there a good reason why we should side with the rebels, other than because " 'merica number one!"? It's hard to side with them when it seems they would be just as bad at running things as Monroe is (which is not that bad).
It's good show!
so um did anyone else noticed they "walked" to Boston and still had the same clothes on?
would have been like an 8 week journey on foot....
i found all the characters extremely annoying and that charlie girl just can't act.
it definitely reminds me of terra nova (and that's not a good thing at all), but i hope it gets better.
oh well, i'll keep watching it, at least a few episodes.
i just don't see any future for it
I liked the pilot and the whole idea. It's a field where u can come up with a lot of creative stuff if u do it right...
Was quite good, but got very... American as the first episode went on. Alcatraz, Hopefully lasts, unlike much of J.J. Abrams similar work (Alcatraz, Undercovers)
Premise is good. Mediocre in the middle. Ultimately dull.
Started out so good! Then it got to be a bit too crazy and the show lost its way.
Probably the most unlikable main character I've ever seen.
The idea of the show was fantastic in my eyes. Unfortunately it started out like a fencing movie. Because of the great idea I sticked to it either way. The (bad) action scenes got less after a while but in the end the series was too predictable for me. With that I don't mean the whole plot, but more each scene. If you aren't going to let one of the main actors die, just stop putting them in those 'risky' situations. For me this show got worse and worse till the end and I too am glad it is over :)
The characters were elaborated pretty good and likable though, thats a plus
Only average. Great potential but fell well short. Pity!!
This started off really good (not original, but good). However I lost interest quickly around the end of season 1. During Season 2 they added some nano robots which were interesting, but at this point I was just going through the motions. The ending wasn't amazing and I'm glad it was over. It had potential, but it fell short.
That was one of the one bad ending! How can they cancel with an ending like that??
WTH with charlie face that always smile in wrong occasions, also that every parents betraying everyone for their child and resulting kills hundreds of people over and over again..
this show is SUCKS, many worthless action that spent human lifes for ALWAYS a single "princess charly" NOT MAKE SENSE demand
It was entertaining to watch as the show progressed, but poor acting coupled with lots and lots of loose threads makes a "meh" a high rating.
They ended the show prematurely for me. Stupid.
Why did this show end?
Great show...too bad it's over
just to remind self never watch stuff from this company lol there love canceling programs
whats point in making this program if it get canceled half way what a wast of time watching this then there like to make ppl watch stuff then cancel it when its getting better full of sh.t
Helix, I agree 100% with you about Revolution and Flashforward, but the Event.. I think it was doing it well.
why NBC canceled this show? :@
the show got canceled! :(
With the premise of this show... it should've been so much better!
revolution is one of the best shows i ever seen, all episodes are exciting and i love that badass girl
I have no clue what happened to this show. The first two seasons were great and catchy. Of course just like all American shows, the producer didn't know when to stop. Right about now everyone who watches this show is totally clueless about the plot and where it's heading.
I watched the pilot and I thought it was a sorry attempt to a medieval slash futuristic show. Too absurd to work. A pity this should go on.
I like this show and find it's getting better as it goes
Good and bad at the same time!
But overall I like it ☻ !
Want another Soap Opera featuring "cool" and "awesomely intelligent" people? Want another show featuring intelligent individuals trying to survive an electrical apocalypse? Congratulations, this is what you've been looking for! cynic
The worst "Sci-fi" I've ever seen.( 2000+)
Yesh, you can find good actors in this show, but most of them are just "plastic-unfantastic".
Is it me, or did this series go from incredibly good in one season to incredibly boring the second? What a disappointment.
Depends on next season.
Ok sci if. Nothing spectacular
we all know the world is on a path of self destruction, so why not enjoy some creative genius on things that we may not understand.............
Too many big names involved in this show has kind of resulted in lots of mediocre people wanting to get involved too. The show has some really great points (the finale was definitely one of their best episodes) but it's also balanced out by plenty of poor points.
For example, there are some great writers who have written some of the better episodes while at the same time there are some laughably bad ones. Secondly, the character Charlie. She was poorly cast and can't act for shit which is a shame because by ignoring her parts the show's quality increases dramatically. The sudden fact that when they put her into the background of the show later in the season and the show became a lot better for most people.. is no coincidence. Casting a mediocre actor for a major role was a poor call on their part. If it was up to me though, they should have just scrapped the Charlie character all together.. although I may just be over-exaggerating due to the terrible writing for her character so far.
If you stick through to the end it's a great reward. I mean there are some great actors in this with interesting back stories (Tom, Bass, Rachel & Miles) and when the stories makes sense, they're done really well. With people like the director of Iron Man working on this there's plenty of talent, it's just that it's attracted some talentless people wanting a slice of the pie. Anyway, the finale was a great reward. Fantastic pay off. The show went back to the core story again and it's turned out to be pretty damn interesting. Also the great extras like being introduced to the Georgia Federation with their steam powered engines was brilliant as it showed that there are still wealthier countries who have made the most of the blackout. You can certainly tell when Eric Kripke's talent is showing (creator of Supernatural, worked on seasons 1-5).
There's plenty of shit episodes and boring characters but that's all balanced out by the amazing episodes and interesting characters played by some amazing actors. Not worth getting on Blu Ray/DVD but definitely worth watching. Especially considering what the finale left us with, looks like season 2 could be really great if they get rid of all the idiots who left their unwanted mark on season 1. Here's hoping.
may be she saves the world or may be she set it on fire
Great show!!! u guys are dumb... just sayin :)
loving this show so much, keeps getting more and more interesting
Awesome show! It is a cautionary tail that should wake people up to the horror of life without electricity. A must see!
Haha what is this nonsense here with everyone talking about plot-holes and bad writing, just because the writers DELIBERATELY didn't tell us in the first few episodes WHY the power went out? It's because almost noone in the world there KNOWS why it went out in the first place that we don't get informed about this, they build up the plot around this, reveal it just over time like they are doing right now.
Did ppl say back then when LOST aired that its an idiotic show because they didn't tell us in the first few episodes why the god damn plane crashed?
Oh well, its not a perfect show by any means but I really don't understand some ppl here, bashing the show because they didn't reveal all of the plot in the first few episodes. It makes sense that there is no power in the world with how they tried to explain it now, if you like that explanation or not - that's with what they go. But I'm sure most of the naysayers stopped watching this show a long time ago...
This show is so bad it's entertainingly unfortunate. The entire premise of the show doesn't make any sense, the dialogue is so horrible it's impossible to tell how bad the acting really is. It's the Troll 2 of Television. With a gigantic budget....somehow.
I'm loving this show, however it has one big flaw: it's taking too long for the story to unfold.
so painful... so many holes in the plot... so american and shiny... every new actor is sexy and shiny with perfect hair... aaah...
getting so tired of this show already!
The idea is cool but the show is getting more ridiculous as it goes.
Besides, it doesn't make much sense why would any electricity or petrol powered things wouldn't work anymore but steam, firearms etc would? It is all energy after all?
There are too many illogical things in this show and the rescue team is very disorganised for a military/paramilitary type of operation.
Episode 5 was the last one I watched from this series, I will not watch again.
The show is getting more ridiculous with each episode... It's getting to a point where its hard to overlook all the logic flaws, the unrealistic situations and the overacting and enjoy the show.
The show is not bad, but they need to explain the lack of power. No electricity breaks physics and human nerves run on electricity, so its not gone. Is there still lightning? because that's static electricity. What if I rub cloth on rubber? that's static electricity. Why can't I then channel these things into other things? This show makes no sense. Short of magic, you can't just turn off electricity. Also, why does everyone walk everywhere? There's already a railway system, steam engines aren't that hard to build. Also horses and whatnot exist. I'm beginning to think that the blackout also caused everyone to become massive idiots, because everybody forgot basic stuff
If this show gets more than a season, I'll be surprised.
I like this show, but I think it can make more than it make. I think this season there isn't any extraordinary tv show.
Boring... but yet I'm gonna watch the entire season.
Personally I've really enjoyed this show on all 4 episodes, sure I thought the same what about pre-electrical tech, and if electricity is stopped why does the human nervous system still work etc but I want to see where they go with it. Plus all those hating on it its not like your spoilt for choice for shows like this or any other real sci-fi atm I will take anything that I can get.
Guilty Pleasure All The Way! :D
Yet another failure..
Really bad but could have been really good. Stopping after season 2.
SO... im guessing this one is to skip from what i´m reading all over the place. is it that bad? :o
Second episode may have been worse than the first. It's almost embarrassing that the flashbacks are more compelling than the main plot. I don't know how this show has an 87% rating, but I do know that I've removed it from my DVR setup.
every scene is painful. i was hoping e02 would be better, it's even worse.
why was that one guy hitting on charlys crossbow-cover instead of just stabbing her?
after ive seen the last seconds of the episode i want to stand next to the writers and yell "JERICHO JERICHO JERICHO..."
So interesting in theory, but very poorly executed.
Yuck! There's nothing to like about this show. Horrible characters and such bad writing. It's got canceled written all over it.
cant we8t for it
17th, correction
Does someone know whats up with the fact that this show isn't premiering until september the 19th and I have got it??
y really don't see a future for this show! i will keep watching it just to see how the explain at least why all went dark!!
When people describe lacklustre television shows nowadays as looking "too TV," this is what they are talking about. The production level is B-movie level and the actors are too good looking to be believable. The casting choices, given what happens early on in the pilot, seems incredibly odd as well. Revolution is executive produced by J.J. Abrams, but it's clear his involvement in this show is almost nonexistent. It's bad network TV, with an Abrams-esque mystery premise.
However, I'll be watching, not because I liked the pilot or that I think the show is going to get better, I just want to see how they explain the nonsensical premise. The show seems to suggest that all electrical devices stopped working, but 15 years after the mysterious event apparently no one on earth remembered that old-fashioned combustion engines & steam-powered vehicles don't need electricity to work. I would think that seeing that there are people in the world desperately seeking knowledge of the event to regain a technological advantage, that they'd have remembered how technology worked prior to the advent of electricity.
So the writers have quite the task ahead of them.
I'm excited to see
trailer crezzzzzzzy
Definitely looks interesting, everything from phones, cars, factories and power plants looses power forever. This would basically be my worst nightmare.
BTW: This is not all science fiction: with a big enough solar flare from our own sun (like the "Carrington event" of 1859) this could actually happen. But i think that at least the USA government has a contingency plan for that, in form of a few HUGE Cages of Faraday packed with all the necessarily electronic equipment to rebuild society.
Looking at the trailer the show seems to be expensive. I hope they have a good storyline, otherwise it could go the same way as Terra Nova. But with the people that BenFranklin mentioned it looks like it could be a big hit.
Added to watchlist.
Here is a 4-minute long first look at J.J. Abrams new project:

I wish they didn't cancel this show.
