YES for eric and adam!! been lowkey shipping this from The First Moment and it broooke my heart seeing him go away just as things were getting good for him! god i hate adams dad. also, it was really nice that he embraced eric??
usually when you have this sort of "bully and victim relationship turning romantic" storyline, after they fuck the bully turns back into a bully and a total ass, but adam actually accepted what happened! this show just continuously broke cliches and conventions!
I was very nervous to watch this last episode because I feared they would force Otis and Maeve together the last minute. I'm glad they didn't.
I just hope they don't ruin it next season and make some silly excuses for them to break up with their current partners so they can end up together. They have a good thing going with the relationships they've been building during this whole season and, even though they might like each other, doesn't mean they are right for each other yet.
can't take my eyes of gillian anderson aka jean, the whole season. what a hottie! anyone w me?
ok wow!!!! eric and adam is a ship i never saw coming, and i love them!! my heart is broken now tho. they really had something, but ofc adams dad had to ruin everything D: also poor maeve. she was finally ready to tell otis about her feelings for him, but ofc she was too late. I REALLY REALLY need a new season of this show. gonna be so disappointed if not. so many great characters and plots. great great show <3
Ola is cool but Ola and Otis don't match, it's getting too forced...
The Eric/Adam relationship actually surprised me. In the first episode I thought Adam might be gay because he had these "performance issues" but it was classified as anxiety issues quickly, so I kind of forgot about it. I'm not completely sure how to feel about it though. I think there's a lot of potential in that story (the writing has been pretty nice, so I would trust them to not use every "bully is actually gay" trope there is), but for some reason I didn't feel any chemistry yet. If they continue that relationship then I really hope it'll not just be them hiding their relationship most of the time. I would love to see some slow development where Eric teaches Adam to be confident in his sexuality and Adam teaches Eric how to be confident against bullies.
I'm not sure yet if they'll make Adam a closeted gay who just had sex with females because "it's the normal thing to do" or if they'll make him bisexual, but I would really love the latter one. I always thought Ola would be bisexual, but maybe they'll choose another character (I'm desperate for bisexual representation, yes, and this show seems so likely to add it)
I'm kind of "meh" about Otis/Ola tbh. I really like Ola. I think she's a really fun character - She's relaxed, confident, funny, smart, pretty. But the timing made it feel forced, like they really had to throw in that kiss right when Maeve was apparently about to confess to Otis. In general I don't have a problem at all with Ola/Otis together and it makes sense for them to explore their sexualities together, but I think we all know it won't last, so it just feels like a forced stepping stone to me :/
About the show in general - Really enjoyed it. Neither the description nor the trailer actually looked that interesting to me, but the reviews were so good that I gave it a try. I thought most of the sex scenes would be cringy and awkward, but only the masturbation scenes were awkward and the rest was pretty fun. Definitely hoping for another season :)
Nice to see everyone sobering up after the emotional wreck that was the school ball. Apart from that appalling scene of Otis kissing Ola, this was a pretty good season finale, like that perfect pink bow tie you wrap around a box with a neatly matching wrapping paper.
Adam's bottled up sexual tension towards Eric finally exploded! That was long due (I honestly thought they would kiss each other when they met at the ball, in the last episode). It was an exhilarating moment, that was sadly brought down by the frustration of separation sometime afterwards. I'm curious to see if and how this will develop in a second season. I hope this won't mess up Eric, again.
Jackson being the gentleman... That guy may not be right for Maeve (he never was, we all knew it), but he sure has a good heart. He's a good kid, but unfortunately he's powerless before the evil school master. But will Maeve truly be expelled, I wonder?
Now, the scene that pissed me off... Otis kissing Ola. That was the perfect figurative punch in the stomach. I was so amped up for a wonderful happy ending with fireworks between Otis and Maeve... And then that happens. It was truly hard to watch. I mean, Otis and Ola have near zero chemistry together, they just don't work as a pair. That was a shameless plot device to keep things up in the air between Otis and Maeve so that they can extend that plotline into future seasons. That scene alone made me take one heart away from my final score. It felt forced, definitely not natural. Otis would obviously be waiting for Maeve's reaction after doing that super cool gesture for her (which was genuinely romantic, and not just awkward, like the cat food).
All in all, we got a solid ending to a solid season of what was a total surprise of a show, for me, and some of the best stuff I've watched on my telly this year. Can't wait for a second season to be officially announced! More teenage sexual therapy appointments with Ms. Maeve and Dr. Otis, please!
The show started off slow and slightly gimmicky due to the sexual tone of it but four episodes in it really got it's stride and got better and better with every episode. By the end of it I genuinly felt for these characters and would love to see more of it.
Don't let the title fool you, there's definately sex but it's not as important as the relations these characters have with others.
Also do watch this if you would like to see Gillian Anderson show you how to jack off... And man, what a beautiful town they're in. I'd love to have a house there...
My not so internal dialogue during the final scene:
Yes! Finally it’s gonna happen!
Oh wait… Ola said she was gonna walk him back…
No! She’s gonna see them! Maybe if they finish quickly and she leaves!
Damn it…
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Noooooooooooo
A fitting end to the season, im looking forward to later ones. Im glad Otis and Jean made up after Otis learned about Jean writing a book about his sexual repressiveness, with Jean apologizing for writing the book and doing it because she wants to undertsand her son better sicn eshe felt like she was losing him after his father left and with Otis admitting he is sexually repressed but then Jean reassured him tis fine to not know all the answers, it was such a sweet moment betwene the two and im glad theyre on good terms again. Its also nice that ola and Otis have gotten back togethe, but man was I really rooting for Otis and Maeve, I mean Otis gave her the writing contest award and an apology letter, but of course Otis had to be making out iwth Ola and Maeve was a witness to that. I really feel bad for Maeve this episode, for one she now is expelled from school because she took the blame of drug selling for her brother, two now her brother left, and three she lost her chance with Otis. Jackson was a goat this episode, despite being told to his face that Maeve doesnt love him, he still tried keeping her from getting expelled by participating in the swimming contest for Mr Groff, but of course Mr Groff wouldnt keep his end of the promise. Adam's character is really interesting, originally the only depth that came from him stemmed from hsi relationship with his dad affecting hhis behaviour, but now, after that gay sex scene with Eric, he's a cloest and self-hating gay character, im lookign forward to se more of him as he's in military school. Adam x Eric huh, dont know how I feel about that. Also Jean x Yacob is gonna be pretty weird now considering that Ola and Otis, their kids, are dating now, cant wait to see more of that. Aimee was fantastic this episode too, going from the people pleaser and pushover to someone who does what she wants, with her leaving he rtoxic friend group this episode and standing by Maeve. Also damn, Maeve is expelled now, i wonder how the show will explore her character now and I hope she gets back in school. Lily, since she has been introduced, has been a pretty weird sport of comeidc relief character, but her scene with Otis was nice today, where she talked about how she desires having sex so much because she fears eing left behind by her peers. Music, acting, and dialogue were solid as usual. Overall this was a nice send off to the season, and Im looking forward to more,.
Do we really have to sit through season 2 now with the whole situation between Otis and Meave reversed? Come on... I expect this kind of forced relationship drama coming from a CW show, but not this. Especially since they avoided it for the most part until now. Can't the main characters not just come together and we go from there? That would be kinda fresh. But overall I really enjoyed the first season. Hope s2 won't take too long to come along.
I knew Adam was gay since the first episode! Habahaha Yaaay loved it <3
I didn't need to see quite so many awkward adolescent masturbation scenes....
Maeve and Otis had rotten timing. Otis should have waited a bit longer. It felt kinda out of character that he didn't. They're clearly hoping for a season two.
Eric and Adam were sweet together, each being what the other needed. I'm not into gay male porn, but if I was, I'd be into those two. Great chemistry. Very brokeback mountain on Erics part.
I don't really like Otis, don't care about him or his happiness at all. he's just kinda an asshole. I don't think he and Maeve should get together bc Maeve deserves better tbh
I don't think there could be a clearer symbol to demonstrate the start of Adams's redemption than him finding Madam. She's like a sign that everything would've gone better if left unchanged. I understand Adam's dad's decision to send him to that military school tho. His methods of control are not working so he's doing smth that he knows (thinks) will work.
Oh dear, what a heartbreaking ending... :o
Lily finally found her right match :D Although it didn't work out as expected :o Let's hope they'll have better luck next time. Anyway, she's kind and it's nice that she kept Otis' secrets.
Jakob: "Jean, you need to stop breaking things when you want to have sex." The two of them are just both so weird. But I guess it's what makes them such a good match :D
Otis speaking up to his mom was nice. Jean really has to learn a few things. But it's nice that they got over it - at least for now...
Adam and Eric is still weird for me. I don't feel it. I get it but it doesn't feel right and I don't like it. It's just too sudden and starts off too brutal.
Anyway, I'm glad that Otis and Ola are friends again and even back together but that last scene with Maeve really sucked!... :o Maeve was so happy and then she had to see that. But it's also her fault for not really giving Otis a proper chance to explain. She can also be quite impulsive.
It looks like there will be plenty of content left for S2.
I kenw it! [doge face]
I felt the back end of the season greatly improved from the first half. I feel more invested in the characters now, and look forward to seeing what season 2 can bring
I was surprised about Eric/Adam thing but I do like it. They are just the perfect gay couple. Before them I wanted Aimee/Adam but now I don't thing so. I don't understand Otis about his fillings. Does he like Ola or Maeve. I hope it's Maeve but Jackson is so annoying. Who's with me?
Uggh. That Adam-Eric pair was so not okay. I get the heat of love-hate relationships, but theirs was literally just hate, always generated from Adam. I am hating that Eric just forgets all the sh*t Adam did and said to him in an instant. As much as I celebrated him for standing up for himself in the previous episodes, that's how much I'm disappointed in this choice of the show's producers.
Damn, Lily's monologue hit way too close to home. Though I wouldn't (and didn't) worry about that at the age of 16.
Truly wild season ender. While I was rooting for two particular people to end up together I'm more than satisfied with how everything wrapped up.

First of all, I gotta say I love this show's soundtrack.
Yaas, I called Eric and Adam several episodes ago, nice! It was so sweet and then heartbreaking I cried
Also, I am glad that they included vaginismus in the show, a lot of women have this condition, don't know about it and don't know thst it's actually curable. And I'm glad that Lily's storyline is explored like this...
I ship Maeve and Otis so hard, so sad not to see them get together now. Maeve is so sweet and I'm happy Aimee finally took her side against those snobs. I really hope we'll get a second season not just because I want Otis and Maeve together and see how Otis's storyline will continue, this show is amazing in so many ways, it better get a second season.
