I was reading through the comments and was surprised that some people think Otis is trash this season... Literally the party scene was the only one where he did wrong so far. He's been dealing with his mom and Jakob's relationship (+ Jakob's personality), Ola, Maeve, his own and other people's sex-related problems for a long time - who wouldn't explode at some point?
Just like how Jackson had enough of one of his mother's dictatorship and almost broke down (well, technically with the self-harm he already did) and how Eric stood up face-to-face to Adam and told him his honest thoughts (yaaas, so proud! I was actually afraid that he would change his mind and back down, but I'm so glad that there's a character in existence who doesn't choose the "bad guy" bully at the end!). These characters had enough too, yet I don't see anyone bashing them. And Otis has/had a lot more on his plate than these two.
I'm conflicted about Maeve now. Last time I wrote that they're basically soulmates with Otis, and I really thought that... but then Isaac came, and now I'm kinda rooting for him? But I'm also rooting for Maeve just concentrating on herself? And also rooting for Otis to apologize and speak to Maeve about his feelings while he's sober?
Since Maeve and Otis are 2 of the 3 main characters, and almost the whole SE1 was about them starting to like each other, I guess they'll end up together, but it wouldn't be a first of this show to give things a twist and pair Maeve up with Isaac.
Jackson and Viv are getting closer, yaay! I mean, that was a strong gut feeling right from their first meeting, but it's still nice to see Viv starting to care more about Jackson (and vice versa), little by little.
Good advice to wait until they’re men, but some women don’t realise that 1) even as men many aren’t much more mature than when they were boys 2)... still, nope.
And fade to Mr. Groff in the end-scene, wonderful example for that.
Fade to Jean telling her ex husband (after the “I want to be a better father”) - “to what children” and here she goes to stumble through a scene of someone growing up (too quickly).
Ah this episode was a bit of a train wreck.
And I really hope Aimee gets help soon and Jackson doesn’t mess up.
And interesting to see that asshat-neighbour actually has some good sides about him too.
People seem to be forgetting how much pressure has been building up in Otis and how a scene setting like we have in this episode is your typical stage to have it all burst out... In the worst possible ways too.
Heck, most characters this season have been dealing with some sort of pressure. Forget about light-hearted ness. This is getting dark.
Jackson may be angry with Viv right now but Viv proved herself a great friend. Telling his moms about what is going in inside him was a choice she made out of love. She cares for him, not many people will protect you like that.
I'm feeling more and more for Adam as the episodes progress, such a misunderstood guy. I hope some happiness will come his way soon, either way, this newfound companionship with Ola could blossom into a cool friendship. I hope so.
Also, Go Maureen! Yes girl, get drunk, go dancing, be bold!
As someone who has a hard time watching awkward stuff, this was excruciatingly painful to watch.

my God. Otis was a great asshole, but I thought it was necessary. that's right Eric, you deserve better than someone who is ashamed of you. I felt sorry for Aimee's boyfriend, and hers too, poor thing. and bro, how crazy Director Groff.
Viv is one of the best additional new characters in this season I like her character a lot.
That Otis party reveal confession was a Peak Sex Education scene IMHO!

Drunk Otis was a sight to behold. I really enjoyed this episodes, especially the moment with Jackson and Vivian, and Maeve and Isaac. Jackson is such a good character, watching him sort of living in this prison of his mom's dreams of swimming, having to dedicate his life around swimming and dealing with the pressure of being amazing at it when its not something he wants to do. Watching this feeling tear apart Jackson has been painful, with him having constant anxiety attacks and even self-harming to get out of swimming for a while. I felt so bad for Jackson, now htat his hand has healed he has to deal with this pressure again, and when he had a panic attack at the party and almost smashed his hand in the mirror it almost made me cry for Jackson. Luckily though, Vivian was there to comfort and calm him down, I just love the friendship built between the two this season, and while I know Jackson is going to hate her for it, I'm glad Vivian told Jackson's parents about it. Regarding Maeve, I enjoyed seeing her moments with Isaac, they clearly have a special relationship since only they can relate to eachother with regards to their living sitautions and the painful moments they've experienced, I'm glad Maeve has a friend like Isaac in her life now, and its nice seeing the moments between the two. Also, I'm glad Maeve is now getting closer with her mo, and is actually calling her "Mom" instead of Erin, I'm glad Erin came back into Maeve's life and is putting forth the effort to change and make up for her past actions. Also, damn Otis, he really shouldnt be near any drinks again. Watching him drunk at his own party was funny though, but of course while he was drunk Otis just had to worsen his relationships with both Ola and Maeve, with that drunken rant he had at the party. Its also been hard to watch Aimee's character go through the trauma of being sexually assaulted, again I;m glad the show is treating this topic seriously and not just making a joke out of it, it's so painful to watch Aimee hallucinate her perpetrator, being haunted by him and that memory. Also, it looks like Ola and Lily is a fucked relationship after Ola made out with her, looks like neither Otis or Ola are having a good time post-break up. And I also liked watching Jean and Maureene go on a girl's night out, it really sucks that Jean ruined her chances with Jakob, despite his flaws, Jakob was a good guy for her. Though I get why Jean would want to be independent now, and doesnt really want to settle down with someone, after how her past relationship ended with her (now ex) husband cheating on her. Also, Eric and Rahim are really cute together, and looks like for now Eric and Adam are never going to happen. It makes sense that Eric rejected Adam tho, given that Adam for years bullied Eric to the point where Eric couldne even love himself, and also the fact that Adam seems to hate his own sexuality, I get why Eric wouldnt love him. Adam has been an interesting character this season, watching Adam come to understand and also hate himself for his sexuality has been a weird ride, I feel bad Adam is scared of whats going on with him, and I really hope Adam gets to a point where he can not be ashamed of the fact that he's bisexual. Also, Adam and Ola is going to be an interetsing friendship, Im glad Adam in his own way cheered Ola up by inviting her to break shit, and I hope later on Ola is going to help Adam sort of accept his own sexuality without beign fearful/ashamed of it. Also, damn, Otis lost his virignity while drunk with some random girl. And also, what is Mr. Groff planning to do wiht printing out copies of Jean's sex therapy clients book. And I cant forget the Quiz Bowl, Im glad Maeve was invited back on, and this time actually trusted her teammates rather than going solo, im glad Maeve is starting to put faith in others more often. Looking forward to more.

Otis is seriously pissing me off this season. Back in season 1 he was, for the most part, "compellingly odd" as Maeve once said. This season, however, he's been doing nothing but antagonizing everyone around him from his mother to Jakob to Ola to Maeve and it's annoying as hell. The speech he made in this episode was just a bunch of self-righteous bullshit. I've been shipping him with Maeve from the start, but tbh now I think Maeve deserves better than this entitled little shit.

Ok, I officially hate Otis now. He's been unbareable this entire season and super annoying in the 1st season. The fact that he thinks HE deserves better than Ola or Maeve when he literally just confesses that he never loved HIS GIRLFRIEND as much as he did Maeve... Isn't that like emotional cheating or smth? Or at least a huge lack of honesty.
Yes, it's good that Eric did not choose Adam bc of all the years of bullying. But saying "It's hard to love someone who doesn't love themselves" or some shit... That just makes it harder when Adam is already suffering the weight of being a failure in everyone's eyes AND being in a toxic masculinity environment. Like, "great, everyone hates me already PLUS I'm unlovable!" Being terrified of coming out is not the same as hating yourself. He needs a good friends, someone to make him understand that he can be a good person and to lift his confidence. Because of their past Eric couldn't be that person but from that one scene I'm hoping Ola will.
Viv going behind Jackson's back and telling his moms what he was so scared to tell RIGHT AFTER they had an argument... I don't think that's care, like some of you think. I'd compare that to outing someone. There was a reason Jackson didn't tell his moms what he truly felt when he had so many chances to. It's because it will change his relationship to his mother (his trainer) FOREVER. Clearly she doesn't understand how he couldn't just want to miss out on making this his career, on winning every tournament. It feels like Vivian did this out of revenge. She was hurt by Jackson's words and knew smth he really didn't want anyone, especially his moms, to know. HE should've been the one to tell them.
Usually, I rate if the show is good or not by if my review is about what characters did (good, suspended my disbelief, made me think the characters are real people) or what the writers wrote (bad, unrealistic, badly written) But this show is another beast bc most of the time the characters feel real but they do shit that 100% should be viewed as problematic, at least morally grey but the show NEVER paints them in a negative light. It's cool that Otis dated a girl he never really liked, It's fine that Eric made Adam feel worse about himself than he already did, it's great that Viv betrayed Jackson's trust. IT'S NOT. What sucks the most is that young people, teens are gonna watch this and think it's fine to do all those things. IT'S NOT.
