Ngl I really want to see the full version of that musical.
This show has suddenly more non-heterosexual characters than Glee.
I'm still annoyed at Otis's behavior throughout the season, but his voicemail to Maeve was actually really sweet and what Isaac did at the end was a total dick move. Tbh given that Netflix has been canceling their shows left and right, the producers are putting a lot of faith in them with that cliffhanger ending. Nothing has really been resolved in a satisfying way, so if we don't get a season 3 it's gonna be awfully disappointing.
Also, Maeve's mom is literally the worst ever. Fuck her. I'll miss seeing Maeve with Elsie too, they had such a cute relationship.
I knew that at one time or another I would start to hate this Isaac for real.
Oh come on... what an over-convenient plot twist to make Maeve leave her phone so that Isaac could delete the message. I thought this show was better than this.
Great season finale.
“You can put me down now”... awww. I loved that.
But uuugggghhh why do people have to be such immature, manipulative assholes. Goes right along with the “once an asshole, always an asshole”. That disabled kid has got problems. In the mind.
So many new story lines developing. I love Jean’s. And that short conversation between Jakob and Otis. Jakob could be the father figure Otis never had. He’s super annoying but also so very caring.
Feeling really sad about the “losers” of this season though. Shitty things happening to the best people.
Just say yes to male x female friendships on TV!
So often writers feel the need to make them romantic, it's nice to see not one but two here.
In contrast, real dick move from Issac at the end there. He's the type of guy who only acts like your friend because he wants more and seeks to sabotage you getting with anyone else. I had a friend just like him unfortunately.
Hopefully the show gets a third season coz a lot of loose ends were left. At least we have cute couples like Ola x Lily and Aimee x Steve though.
Ola saying "I love you, dude. I love you like a friend." to Adam was so weird. Two episodes ago she had to point out that she's his coworker from the picture. She's the new kid but suddenly she has deep connections with the people around her? I have 13 Reasons Why flashbacks...
I do think it's problematic that Adam used to be Eric's bully and Adam does need a lot of development and learning how to talk about things, but I think I like him more with Eric than Rahim. Rahim seems so... emotionless? Kind of similar to Ola. Ola is nearly always happy and careless and smiley, and Rahim is always emotionless and matter-of-fact. Eric is so loud, bubbly and extrovert that I'm surprised both of his love interests are so the opposite of him. But I feel like Adam could be louder and more open if he actually came out of his shell. We already saw him laughing a few times with Eric and I would like to explore that tbh.
At first I was a bit annoyed that we're at the same endpoint as season 1, but then I realized that Adam's now out of the closet, so hopefully season 3 will move forward with that. (And I desperately need more happy scenes with Adam because my heart hurts watching him.)
The ending with Maeve/Otis/Isaac just annoyed me. I don't really need Maeve and Otis together, but that was such a cheap twist. It felt so forced to keep them apart even longer now, ugh. If they at least decided to stay friends or something, but this was literally "person A confesses feelings but person B never got the message" trope bullshit. Writers need to remember that you can have the main characters be together and still continue the damn story.
I enjoyed this season, but there was too much love triangle and "will they, won't they" stuff. Jean/Jakob/Remi, Ola/Otis/Maeve, Eric/Adam/Rahim, Ola/Lily drama for a few episodes. And Viv has feelings for Jackson now which I hope won't be too problematic. I would like to see more platonic friendship scenes, therapy scenes or whatever. Not everything needs to be love drama. I feel like it wasn't that much and forced in season 1.
let's talk about plots with gay guy that falls in love with his bully that is secretly gay! Queer as Folk, Skins, Glee, and now this (and i'm probably missing lots more). I kinda hate that gay people that was bullied it's supposed to forgive AND fall in love with their bullies ONLY because they were secretly gay. You wouldn't do that to a straight female character...
You wait so many months for a season like this and an ending like this is SO frustrating... Okay that the series has a lot of other characters, but they dedicated very little to the relationship between Otis and Maeve.
They re-did the season 1 finale but with an inverted declaration of love.
Is it problematic to hate a disabled person?
justice for rahim, he deserved better :fist:
The musical was FANTASTIC but what was even better was that Adam finally found happiness. I loved the moment he had with Ola and after the musical when he was with Eric's mom and sisters, that smile... FINALLY. Been rooting for him all season! I hope Rahim didn't put any doubt in Eric's mind now.. I'm sorry but I didn't even feel sorry for Rahim. Eric's mom was right, he didn't make Eric sparkle.
Also, shitty Isaac! I liked him but after this episode that has gone. It was pretty clear he was going to delete that message but I hoped he was better than that. Very cliché move.
I love the friendship between Viv and Jackson. Very genuine. I hope they won't throw in some weird feelings there. It would be the most obvious thing if Viv would start to develop feelings for Jackson. They should remain friends. It's a very honest friendship.
Oh and Jean... Well... that'll be interesting.
Even though the ending was waaay to cheesy, I still say: #KillTheCripple
"I understand that I hurt you." - Sooo... still no apology? And Eric wants this guy more than Rahim? Ughhh... Don't want to be a d*ck, but I really hope that Eric will experience Adam not being able to catch him. The only moment I almost teared up was when I saw Rahim crying. I really like his character, it's a shame that Eric just had to choose Adam anyway. I mean, of course, feelings should come first (most of the time) if you choose a partner, but I just don't get how can he fall for and choose his dumb ex-bully over a sweet, honest and smart guy. This plotline was a huge disappointment.
Viv and Jackson, on the other hand, were adorable! They were so cute hugging and holding hands while walking! Even if just as friends (for now, hihi).
Oh, how much I knew that Isaac would delete Otis' voice message... I get that he wants Maeve for himself, but using dirty tricks to achieve that because he knows he'll lose the fair way... Back to 100% Team Otis.
I didn't really like Erin from the start, it was pretty obvious that she was gonna start using again, especially when she was caught in her lie about her being fired. I really pitied Maeve for having to deal with a "mother" like this - after being neglected and abandoned by her in her childhood, she comes back, makes Maeve believe that she's changed, then ruins her life again by starting the vicious cycle from the beginning. And she dares to say she'll never forgive her own child for reporting her for the sake of saving Elsie from what her other children had gone through. (Oof, this sounded a lot less difficult of a sentence in my head. xD)
Anyway, Maeve is a wonderful and brave human being. I just hope she won't date Isaac for too long in the next season before getting to know the truth about Otis' feelings (because I guess this will happen, too, if they went cliché with the "bad guy" topic regarding Eric).
How can they leave us hanging with that ending? So frustrated
The credits song was beautiful, fuck the mom who blames Maeve and fuck wheelchair guy.
"All the people who like you despite your faults.
And if you discard them, they will never come back.
So when you meet those people, just hold on to them.
Really really tightly. And not let them go."
When you start lying its very hard to stop
You're always trying so hard to be good that you end up not being good
This really hurt me but i loved it and this episode was so great
Oh, dear, Mr. Groff is a real mess. Quite sad... :o
Otis is trying really hard to redeem himself. The therapy session with his mum was fun, his apology to Jakob kind, and him defending his mom very sweet!
Yousef: "Then you're both fired." LOL... He just fired his employee of the month as well...
Adam and Ola was cute :D There so strange together but also so entertaining :)
Jean being pregnant was quite a twist!
I'm glad that Amy and Steve are back together. I felt really bad for Steve - he's such a nice guy!
Collin: "Artistic expression, mister groff."
The musical was fun :D Seems like Lily had quite some artistic freedom :D
And I hate Isaac now! What a dick move... :o
And how dare those writers?!?
Maeve could've checked her messages earlier, could've had a passcode, Otis could've met her instead of that close miss, etc...
This sucks! Let's see what'll happen in S3.
Also: Poor Maeve. That really must've been a hard decision. But I too think that she did the right thing.
It's super rich/ironic what Erin said...
The season has been good, but that was a real mess. Characters acting stupidly for plot reasons is my most hated thing.
Last episode we got Adam, trusted with the keys, not checking the door was locked like any human being would do with their own door, let alone the door of a workplace where they'd like to stay... because... reasons. So stupid.
Then this episode we get Maeve jumping to stupid conclusions and ruining two people's lives in an instant. For a constantly prickly and taciturn character, she's remarkably quick to trust the Sleaze on Wheels, and she does it because... reasons. And then, shortly after hearing Aimee's experience with predatory men, she walks off into the dark without her phone. A phone which she left unlocked despite living with someone she barely trusts and a literal infant. Because... reasons.
Such idiotic writing.
I'll hate watch the next season because Otis, Jean and Eric are still good characters, but no doubt they'll be ruined soon too because... reasons.
A solid ending to the series. It was heartbreaking watching Maeve have to report her mother for drug usage to the CPS, and watching Erin's melt down and saying she would never forgivve Maeve mustve broken Maeve, once again she has to lose her mother because of her doing drugs. On a slim bright side though, looks like Maeve won the Quiz Bowl with her team, im glad they succedded, and I wish I couldve been happy that Erin actually showed up to watch it. Also, man fuck Isaac, deleting Otis' voicemail where he confessed to Maeve, looks like Maeve x Otis is gonna have to wait. Also, my boy Adam actually showed Eric he loved him, rather than just being ashamed of who he is he went on stage to ask Eric to hold hands, and its pretty clear that Adam makes Eric way more happy than Rahim ever did. And, Adam and Ola's friendship is so cute, im glad she has Adam's back. Also poor Rahim, my guy was such a good person I really feel bad for him. Also, looks like Mr. Groff is not only barred from his home, now he's no longer headmaster, man Mr Groff really went insane and depressed after the divorce, although he never showed it (which led to the divorce) it does seem like he actually did love Maureene. Also, Jackson was the goat this episode, im so glad, that, of course with some help from Vivian, Jackson was able to do the school play well, and his parents were their to support him. Im glad Jackson is finding what he likkes to do in life now, rather than living someone elses. Also, Vivian and Jackson were such a cute, sibling-like friendship. with them always having eachothers backs at the end of the day, Im glad Vivian and Jackson made up. Also, damn, so Jean is pregnant now, and from the man who she ruined her chances with by pushing him away, tho hopefully after seeing how Jakob was eyeing her, Jean and Jakob will get back together. Also, I really enjoyed watching Otis' character this episode, from him at first being a brat who wouldnt take accountability for the sex clinic thing and its unethicality, to publicly defending his mother and taking responsibility for the sex clinic at the school play. Also, watching Otis' and Remi's conversation was so painful, with Otis angry and confused about the kind of man he wants to be, with his father abandoning him making that struggle far worse, and also fearing that he'll become an asshole like his father. And Remi saying the reason he abandoned Otis was just because he's an asshole, and that for Otis to avoid becoming like him he should be honest, and hold the people who like and understand him closely. And, Im glad Aimee is slowly recovering from the sexual assault incident. Solid final episode.
There had better be another season...
Now the main characters are seemingly even farther apart than at the end of season 1, lololol.
He can hold your hold but I’m not sure he can catch you. :disappointed:
Man this show has a lot of unfair heartbreaks.
Loved Otis and his mums resolution. Also, Adams interaction with Erics family were cool.
"When you love a person, there's always a tiny part of you that's terrified that one day you're gonna lose them.
You have to let the people you love know that you love them. Even if it causes you a great deal of pain."
"Why?"
"Because you're alive."

Warning: rant incoming.
WTF... I cant believe this. So angry. WHAT. Literally just been pacing since then end. I dont think I realised just how much I wanted Maeve and Othis together until this just happened. I literaly yelled out “NO” in the middle of the night. Are you serious right now? Honestly this is just plain emotional manipulation. How do you do so much building up of something without paying it off at all?! OKAY OKAY, fine. Season 1, I get it. We wanted it, you built it up, and you made us wait till the very last moment of the last episode thinking something might happen but no. And thats fine, that’s just fine. “We’ll just wait for season 2, you know. its okay” Or so we so naively thought. Season 2 starts full of hope and very quickly I realise “oh i see if something happens, its literally gonna be at the very end” but you know that was fine. Just fine. Ans as the end of season 2 grew nearer, it was not looking good. I kept thinking “are they actually not gonna have it happen, are they seriously just going to dangle it in front of us AGAIN? But still i thought maybe at the very last minute? And when you see her sitting alone crying, I thought, this is perfect if he arrives now. But then when you see her knocking at Isaac’s door, I knew. I just knew. And yet, I still thought it might. ... Even when he was listening to the message, with that big delete button which doesn’t exist on an actual digital call keypad, and you can tell where this is going, i was still like “maybe he’a not a c*?” ... But, when he deleted the message... just after we hear how f*ing good the message was... I was so angry. I saw it coming a mile away but still. Seriously? .... Ahhhh COME ON. Is this just what this show is going to do? The “will they/won’t they” literally till the show actually ends? Im all for building expectation and making people wait so that the payoff is then better. But i think this is too far. Two full seasons without any payoff to this story line. Are you just going to dangle it over and over and never actually have it happen? Honestly, the fact the message was so nice as well makes it worse. And this means, whatever happen next, she will never hear that message.
Otis and Maeve’s dynamic was one of the things that made season 1 so charming. It could be argued it was the heart of the show. And yet, this season there was literally almost no scenes with both of them together. What? Don’t get me wrong, i really like the subplots with all the other characters, but they are secondary characters and storylines and they honestly became centre point in this season.
Honestly I loved season 1 so much and most of season 2 but right now, I don’t even know if I want to watch season 3, with this writing decision... It really feels like a “f*** you” to the fans.
I know I’m being slightly (ahem or extremely) dramatic about this, but whatever I’m passionate, sue me. To end this on a positive note, apart from how they ended the Maeve/Otis stuff (Ahhh...), I really did enjoy this season a lot. I enjoyed most of the other characters’ storylines. There were really important, touching moments. And i laughed a lot. There’a no denying this show is intelligently written and very funny.
Hopefully, with some time, and by the time S3 rolls around, I’ll be open to see wht’s next
