I appreciate the writers wanting to add little bits of dialogue from the books, but when you don't properly build the foundations for those interactions, the dialogue ends up being really awkward and awfully forced. So, if you cringe everytime Nina and Matthias speak to each other, that's why. They're talking book dialogue at each other.
And I think that's also why every single romantic relationship is flopping so hard. If you don't build a strong base, or at the very least give the relationship a little breathing time to establish itself between "nice to meet you" and "let's make out", things are bound to end up on the full body cringe end of the spectrum.
On board with the Matthias/Nina ship.
I've probably become a softie but I'm really happy that Alina and Mal are finally back together. That went faster than I've expected and without all of the drama.
Ah, yes. Let's set up a romance between a strong woman and a misogynist, that "bond" by using fanfic tropes.
MONTHS? IT'S BEEN MONTHS??? Alina said that to Mal but like why they didn't show that? It seemed like everything happened in like two weeks, they could've showed the seasons changing, Alina getting better at her training, some physical changes on Alina like hair getting longer or idk, something; and also it doesn't make sense that it's been months because the crows story starts 2 weeks after Alina first used her powers in the fold, so that's two weeks, and then Kaz and the crows have to leave that same night, and that night they found the conductor, and I don't remember if they crossed the fold that same night or the next night, then they got to East Ravka and add other day for them to find Nina and I think that same day they came up with the peformers idea and like next night it was the gala thing? so that's like three weeks, so whose timeline is wrong???
And even tho I don't ship them, I guess I'm glad Malvina are back together cause at least we can get new content of them, the past 5 episodes it was girlie crying about the same damn flashbacks, but still I am team Darklina, even tho I assume that's over cause he's going full villain? I haven't read the books and I don't have the mental energy to do it, but I wonder if he truly loved her or if he was only using her, but also it doesn't matter cause they didn't even got to have a relationship, they were about to hook up once and they were interrupted by his mother and that's it, and I suppose that's the end of it forever cause they are mortal enemies now, so what a waste. Also did MAL JUST CALL HER FAT??? and in like the oddest way, I would summon the sun and shove it into his ass if he said that to me, but like I said if it's been that long and Alina went through so much changes, why didn't they showed them? if Alina was supposed to be like malnourished at first, they could've used some make up, a skims and baggy clothes so the actress could've looked like that and then we see the difference of her getting healthier, cause in two weeks you don't develop an appetite, but who knows how long it's been and I don't wanna google anything so I don't see any spoilers.
I love Nina! and in just one episode there was way more chemistry or romance build up between her and that guy than in 6 episodes between Malvina or Darklina.
And oh, the conductor dies ??? I hate shows that kill every damn character it's not like I care about him, but I prefer we get to know a character and see their development than just offing them and replace them with a new character that's gonna be offed too in the next episode.

Jesper continues to be my favorite rogue/gunslinger and the Kit Young just drips with swagger. I love all his scenes. I wonder if he is so cool in the books...
