The rating is for the series as a whole. The first part is much more interesting and is the only reason I completed it. The later I got the less logical the shaman power becomes, and the end answers exactly zero story-questions. So while I do like the characters and their dynamics, the more I watched the less I liked it, and with the ending being more a season cliffhanger than series ending it kinda lowered the rating even more.
(Now to re-watch Hunter x Hunter to see if the characters are as similar as I remember them... Edit: They are.)
