Started strong but in Ep 5 Im already checked out. The plot just fell apart and I couldn't care less about any of the characters including the Sheriff chick. Silo had a great concept but they don't have the script to support it and it's following an unfortunate trend of contemporary tv series where they launch with high hopes and dissolve into oblivion 5/10
i just don't get why people are loving this. acting is over the top, script is predictable. oh yes lets put a 56kg woman to work the machinery, while mr f**king ripped boss is just watching. 81%? imdb 8.4?
Episode 3's generator event must be one of the most mind numbingly stupid scenes that I have ever seen.
What were the writers writing? Even a child would know, out of instinct, to not do what the main character was doing. It simply breaks the laws of physics and has nothing to do with reality.
Not to mention the engineering aspects of the rest of the design and the so-called fixes and repairs applied, which are just ridiculous.
It's not about suspension of disbelief, it's about sheer stupidity. This episode makes me want to stop watching.
It is basically snowpiercer but the train is not moving and it is vertical
I gave up at episode 6, it started out really well with an intriguing premise, but as others have said many times, it is incredibly slow and just not that interesting.
Annoying characters doing annoying infuriatingly stupid things
Rebecca Ferguson CARRYING this series
looks promising, though I get strong Snowpiercer vibes
The 1st episode was promising. The 2nd was solid. The next 5 were completely and utterly slow, boring, and barely relevant. Abandoned.
Sorry to say, my anticipation for this did not pay off. Simple writing and totally uninspired by the numbers directing. Was expecting a mesmerising texture to it all but instead got a by the numbers tv show squandering it’s settings potential. 6/10, was bored for too much off it.
Check out the infinitely better Severance on Apple. Or From, from the creators of Lost on Stan or wherever it’s screening in your country.
Enjoying it so far, started reading the books so I can see the differences.
It just feels like a cheap version of Fallout universe
Not sure if it is because I read the book and am biased, but I could not get into this show. The plot was overly dramatic and the main character was one dimensionally angry and impulsive.
It's okay. Was not worth the payoff though unfortunately.
Silo is like a really bad game of telephone - every time you think you've got a handle on what's going on, the show changes the rules. It's like they're trying to raise more questions than a Jeopardy tournament, leaving you scratching your head and wondering if the writers even know where they're going. But somehow, that's part of the charm. Just imagine choose-your-own-adventure book, but written by a conspiracy theorist and you get to fill in the blanks with your own wild theories. But hey, if you're looking for a show to watch while you're waiting for paint to dry or your avocado to ripen, Silo is the perfect choice. And if nothing else, it’s a great way to kill some time - just don't expect to understand what's going on or get any concrete answers anytime soon. It's like trying to explain Snapchat filters to your grandma - you know it's cool, but you're not sure how to use it. So enjoy the world’s slowest game of Jenga, where you keep waiting for something to happen, but it just keeps getting more and more precarious.
I only watched the first episode, and as soon I saw the lady with the big ass wrench in the generator I knew instantly that this show was going to suck. bet your last dollar this show is going to drag on like others before it. first, how do they feed everyone in the Silo? don't know, who cares, where do they get the fuel to run the generator? don't know, who cares, Where do they get any supplies, including bread? yes they have bread in a Silo, which they never leave. Silo is one big eye roll.
The Island stretched to 10 episodes?
Season 2 doesn’t pick up the pace. It’s frustratingly slow. Recommend waiting for season 2 to finish before watching it. Otherwise you’ll be supper annoyed.
watched the first 3 episodes, boring AF sorry ¯_(ツ)_/¯
easily one of the most overrated show on air. cringe filled characters and acting. a series of monologues one after another instead of actually exploring the lore.
Apple TV is the most unreliable yet reliable series maker I've ever loved. You can rely on the production always, and the story is usually always original. The storytelling and pacing are what's unreliable. There is a lot of useless skipping or focusing on important/unimportant information. Season 1 for the most part is a borefest. It has big intense sequences and performances, but the casting was the only reason I stayed. They play around with the real mysteries, adding too much expectation for floppy results. I'm open to changing my rating if s2 has worthy answers.
Just watched S2E1. What a waste of 45 minutes. So much for looking forward to Season 2
Conceptually this is too much like Fallout for my liking
Great series.
This gave me hope, that new series can be good.
its a drama in disguise, barely anything related to sci-fi except the world design
S1: The first season was unbelievably dull for so much of it. It's so predictable and it takes 10 episodes to do what they should have done in maybe 6. The ending has me intrigued for what it is to come but the "twist" was so easy to call out in the very first episode. There really is not enough worldbuilding for such a unique situation and they pepper in these insane lines that really should be explored way more than just being throwaway in the middle of everything else. This coming out in a similar time frame to Severance, which has much of the same mystery hooks and yet is so much more captivating than this, did not work in its favour. I'm hoping the next season actually has some substance instead of pointlessly extending the runtime
dropped at ep6 --not my taste..
It's somewhat of a great show even if I fear that the story will be quite simplistic (seeing how it progresses with episodes)
SUPER excited for this. The Silo series books were fantastic, and I always thought they would make a great movie or show. Fingers crossed that the show is just as interesting as the books!
City of Ember for grownups? Yes please!
What a shit show. The first episode has more sex scenes than the average pornhub video. Cant you tell a damn story without putting a sex scene every 5 minutes? Also within the first episode people acting like absolute fools, not believable at all.
Starts superbly, first sheriff (Oyelowo) great character but dies too soon living a huge gap and his death really impacted audience and plot. Will Patton is reduced to a drunken fool dies too soon and we're left with Ferguson who is an ok actress but not a protagonist. Completely wasted Tim Robbins, as a side character until ep8. All plot, backstories and support characters are 100% NPCs. I couldn't care less if they live or die, including Nichols' early years. Boring snoozfest! After episode 3 SKIP to 8 and then watch the "revelation" on ep 9, which makes no differetin the overall pkot. As for the ending... Worse than Lost's. It's a wasteland, no it's not but it is, but it's not but it is. Total nonsense. 4/10
MODERATION EDIT: Keep the comment about the show and not about your political complaints.
So far seems like a more expensive version of snowpiercer. Which would be great had we not endured that stupid show.
Two episodes released and what a good start for this TV show. This seems to be based on a post apocalyptic world of some sorte and they live in a Silo, apparently ruled by Justice.
I haven't read the books so I don't know if the series are doing them any justice.
But based on this 2 eps alone I say this is looking as a very good show, let's up the quality keeps going up or at least the same as the first 2 episodes.
Starting to wonder if this is some kind of undercut before the Fallout series get released. Won't complain tho; the premise looks good. Hopefully more science fiction than just the drama. Too many movies and series that sell themselves as such often tend to be more drama or even crime than honest science fiction.
I came for Rebecca Ferguson, I stayed for Rebecca Ferguson.
I haven't read the books. I don't know much about this series at all other than its a scifi. I like most scifi so long as the story is well told, acted okay, and generally not get too ridiculously stupid. The mystery is (over the first two episodes) well paced and it's giving us just the right amount of hooks to keep us going.
My question is why do they go out in protective suits? My first thought would be to provide a nice cocktail of hallucinogens and poison, but that's too obvious and predictable.
Then of course the are other major questions that arise like obtaining raw resources, but I guess things like that may get answered as we go along. But I guess Gilligan's Island went for quite a while without answering some major sticking points... but that's another story.
[tv+] Without a doubt, it's the Apple's best foray into the science-fiction genre, an approach to a dystopian society that is based on George Orwell's "1984" raising questions about populism, control of the female body, and the construction of a state that keeps secrets to build coexistence. There's outstanding suspense management, as in episode 3, and a proper balance between personal traumas and the overview of a silo holding on fragile basis. Although sometimes it's too obvious, especially towards the end, it has a coherent ending to broaden the field of vision of its main themes.
6/10 FAR
I’m only the two episodes in so far and I wanted to give it at least a 7/10 good, but I have seen so many other show go off a cliff face after the initial start…..
I like the concept of the show and it’s has been done before, but this show seems to be taking a slower and more realistic approach to the storytelling……
It has a good mature cast that you feel comfortable with and find believable, true adult entertainment instead of the usual “must have youth and angst” more of this please…..
Yes the concept is not new and I don’t expect a new totally original outcome/reveal, but it is being told in a refreshing way.
This is a slow burner and maybe some people won’t stick around because of it, we will see and hopefully I can come back and upgrade the score higher!!!!
P.s the only gripe I have is the unrealistic occupations and responsibilities of some of the characters, politically correct?
Yes I think so, it doesn’t ram it home and it doesn’t spoil the show, but it doesn’t hinder the believer-ability sometimes….
Looks like a low-key City of Ember (2008) spin-off, lmao. Wish we had an actual and better series of it.
Lowed it, 8 episodes in one day, then finished the rest after the weekend, want to read the books now but if we are getting second season next year might just wait and don't spoil it. All my teorys where destroyed after the finale and I have like 5 questions now
This is the 4th series I've started to watch from AppleTV, and after Servant, Shrinking, Severance and now Silo, I'm starting to wonder about the rest of the alphabet...:joy:
If the 5th I'm gonna be interested in is gonna start with an S too, I'm calling it a pattern!
Anyway, not a big fan of Apple in general, but the AppleTV originals have not disappointed me yet. Way to go...
after episode 4 its just become annoying i put it of my watch list
It's like the 10th time we see the file manager on the hard drive, but writing prevents us to get to know what's actually on it. The one (of 2) file they do open, was already shown earlier.
This show is just wasting time in a big way, 9 episodes in we know nothing more than we did after the pilot (except the cameras and who's actually in charge in the Silo). I'm glad it will get a second season, since there's ain't no way we're getting the answers we need in the season finale.
Enough happens in the first episode to keep you watching. While the pace in later episodes lulls in parts due to all the character backstories, the story overall is well written and intriguing. Who are the mysterious Council? is outside the silo really a wasteland? Who created the Silo? I'm hooked and only half way through.
Very promising. Scifi noir at high level.
One of the series I've seen with love and unbearable lately. Even the slow-going episodes are interesting.
why is this so dark, might as well be listening to a radio play for the amount you can actually see on the screen, you have to watch this at night time with all the lights out just to get the 'ambient effect' yeah I get that they are underground but can they please just switch on some lights ffs
Improving rapidly with the political motivations revealing problems faced now with shortages and a blame culture..
the intro seems to watch another series of fallout, then fortunately you also manage to develop a plot.
The series starts in the first episodes at a thousand making you already understand the point then slows down a bit with the introduction of various characters and events with few twists. often you have to overlook some technicalities and situations a little difficult to believe such as:
- the fact that there is a huge drill in the lower part but no one goes there
- the protagonist who enters the steam chamber and does not die of heat
- cameras scattered or everywhere and behind the glass never seen by anyone
in short, you go on with the vision hoping that the ending gives a certain satisfaction but perhaps I will be disappointed.
Can't wait what's outside !!¡
i cannot wait pls vusit my dreams for trailer
Such a good series jknn
Y'all should just read the books. Way better.
I really had a good time with the show. It made me interested in reading the books then. Turns out the show took quite a few liberties compared to the book but season 1 covers only about 40% of the first book. It'll be interesting to see where they continue to take the show.
What a fantastic first season!!! The script, the characters, the set, the build up and suspense had my wife and I at the edge of our seats and yelling at the screen. A beautiful serious dine beautifully well. Can’t wait till season 2
Listened to the audio books and wow looking forward to see how the show will stay true to the books
I'm really enjoying this show. It's just funny how some of the stuff in this show is happening in society today, from the secrecy to the lies and the decit to the tracking of all activity, all controlled by the people on top to continue to hold on their power.
loved the set designs and whole look of this show, Rebecca Ferguson was amazing, i love her;
& i so desperately need a season 2.
ITs good ! the visuals are great ! can't wait for S2 :fingers_crossed: Also what kinda name is Avi "Nash" - its "Avinash" u dimwits :P
Apple TV has been doing an incredible job with its series, and this one is no exception. Great performances, intrigue, mystery - it's genuinely addictive. There are some details towards the end, but it leaves you wanting more.
Very good show. Great pacing on the first two episodes, then a couple of filler ones (somehow have to make up 10!). The absolute worst thing about it, is that "actor" with the ridiculous name. Common. Atrocious acting. Real shame, would be an outstanding tv series without him.
Intense, filled with suspense. Dystopia murder mystery with fast pacing and decent build up. Some character decisions and rationale seemed to not be explained in much detail, so it was hard to understand exactly how they jumped to that conclusion to quickly. The ending also left me with more questions than answers. Overall a solid show
Very similar to Snowpiercer in concept. I enjoyed this show. Entertaining. Actors were on target. Hated to see a few really brilliant ones exit the show so soon. I didn't read the book, so I came in expecting a good story. That's what I got. As far as people complaining about the script, that's laughable - - look around. We're there already..... small females doing a big man's job - - "people in charge" telling lies to keep a population contained, confined, & under control....well.......LOL
It took me a bit to get into it. Especially in the first few episodes, there is some stuff that was way too convenient. But man, by the end of the season I was fully into it. I can't wait for the next one.
:heart:x8
First - you must ignore any and all the Karen comments here and anywhere hatin on this show. Obviously they have no clue how to watch or enjoy a TV show.
Now, this is an amazing show. The story is fantastic and very interesting. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the get go. The ending is also quite interesting as what we thought we knew, we actually did not. Everything changed. And of course, once again, just as a great show gets really good and interesting we hit the end of season 1. At least we already know we'll get a season 2 - maybe - depending on how long the writers and actors strike goes on.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Loved this show! Great acting. Great storytelling.
lil girl doctor dad looks like bryan cranston !!! young
Don't listen to all the negative comments, I am genuinely shocked that people think this is slow. The show is intriguing, gripping, fast-pasted, twisty-turny, thought provoking, and exciting. The kind of show that you could spend hours talking about and theorising about with friends. The world-building is delightful and the acting, music, and set design is great. Yes, there is a change of pace after the first few episodes but as long as you enjoy TV that requires you to use your brain then it is still just as exciting. If you need constant twists and deaths and flashy writing hijinks just to stay interested then go watch a different show.
Not without issues, but the sets, engineering, and atmosphere was worth the price of admission alone.
Rebecca is always captivating, and this is no exception. Tim Robbins and Common were standouts as well.
I almost quit it early on, but was ultimately able to look past the inconsistencies in the story. Something this ambitious in scale always overlooks something along the way that doesn't add up, but there is real enjoyment to be had if you decide to just give in.
Everything that concerned that trash chute in the story was, well....., trash!
Everyone would know that it would be an alternate means of traversing levels, especially the raiders, but it was played as some sort of revelation to make it possible for Jules to move around.
Also, her dropping onto the trash heap and surviving was a farce. They had just thrown hard/heavy trash onto the heap while trying to knock her down, but she landed onto what appeared to be soft and accommodating rubbish.
I really enjoyed season 1 and am looking forward to 2 the next one. What an interesting post apocalyptic story—finally something new I had not seen or read before.
AppleTV adds another great work to its science fiction series with Silo, the series set in a dystopian future manages to generate great interest with its underground world and Rebecca Ferguson as the star of the cast
Silo is a new Apple TV+ series based on the novel of the same name by Hugh Howey. The show takes place in a dystopian future where the last remaining humans live in a giant silo, hundreds of stories underground. The silo is a self-contained society, with its own government, economy, and culture.
The first season of Silo follows the story of Alison Hennigan, a young woman who is tasked with investigating the death of a computer repairman named George Wilkins. George was found dead in his workshop, with a mysterious hard drive in his possession. The hard drive contains footage of the outside world, which is something that is strictly forbidden in the silo.
Alison's investigation leads her to uncover a number of secrets about the silo, including the fact that it is not as self-sufficient as it seems. The silo is actually dependent on a small group of people who live outside, and these people are being kept in isolation for their own safety.
As Alison's investigation progresses, she finds herself caught up in a web of lies and deceit. She must decide who she can trust, and whether she is willing to risk everything to expose the truth about the silo.
Silo is a well-made and suspenseful show that is sure to keep you hooked from beginning to end. The cast is excellent, with Tim Robbins, Geraldine James, and Common all giving standout performances. The world-building is also top-notch, and the show does a great job of creating a believable and immersive environment.
If you are a fan of dystopian fiction, then you will definitely want to check out Silo. It is a thought-provoking and exciting show that will leave you wanting more.
Here are some of the things that I liked about Silo:
The strong cast. Tim Robbins, Geraldine James, and Common are all excellent in their roles, and they bring the characters to life.
The suspenseful plot. The show keeps you guessing until the very end, and you will never know what is going to happen next.
The thought-provoking themes. Silo explores some interesting ideas about society, government, and the nature of reality.
The beautiful production design. The show is visually stunning, and the silo is brought to life in a way that is both believable and immersive.
Overall, I highly recommend Silo. It is a well-made and suspenseful show that is sure to keep you entertained.
Big props to Apple for putting out so many good shows. They are not skimping on quality.
This was such a good start of a show, and really hope we get to see more of it.
Rebecca Ferguson is fantastic.
7/10 good
Made it to the end of the season, 10 episodes was just about right and it moved along reasonably well.
Storyline, acting, filming and set where all good, yes a few loopholes but nowhere near as bad as so many other shows of this type…..
I definitely will be looking forward to a second season that’s for sure.
My only gripe is the pc feminist agenda, men are week, women are strong rubbish.
Yes in the situation like the silo the classic work role model would be different, but the physical strength and attributes of both men and women would still play a part in the day to day life of the silo.
Female characters can be strong and leaders but not by playing down the part of the male characters and making them seem lesser for it…..
But again this doesn’t ruin any enjoyment of the show, it just makes it less impressive….
I'm hooked! I am loving these series and eagerly await each new episode :100::heart:
Good show i don't like it
stop filming in 4k I can't see anything, no vibrant colors like regular cameras
It feels like Westworld's second try... A very well written story till now, really like it! I did not read the books, but I hope that there is enough stuff left for following stories.
BTW, the show is super duper slow and if you like that kind of stuff; you'll love this show. If you can't stand super slow story telling, 20 new questions for every 1 question answered, random plot twists, etc. then stay way from this show.
I've watched 3 of these and so far am impressed. Someone said the acting is 'over the top' - mm, I wouldn't have said that and I usually really can't deal with over-acting. Or maybe it isn't the same. Either way, it's an interesting idea and the sets (even if it's all CGI) are really impressive. It also makes a nice change from the normal Hollywood pap.
This is a pretty decent show. It's kind of like Fallout (the game) but not Fallout (which airs next year apparently). This is my favorite genre of movies, shows and about the only games I've ever played of consequence - post apocalyptic. I find it interesting to see how writers envision a world without all the things we have become accustomed to. Even the movie The Postman had pretty terrible acting but it was an interesting story about a post-apocalyptic USA so I still watch it from time to time.
What I hate about this show is easy: Common. He's over bearing, a terrible actor, always has to appear as some big bad ass in everything he does and he just overdoes it. Any scene with him is trash. I know nothing of his music and I don't care, I don't like him on screen or even in interviews, he comes off as a self absorbed douchebag that's God's gift to humanity. Don't even get me started on his stupid beard.
A strange choice of genre sub plot narrative; murder mystery… but would have been best to stick with sci-fi thriller.
Apple needs to stop releasing these shows in weekly intervals. I get the reason for spreading but it kills the flow of the show. this is where Netflix triumphs.
i like this this far .hope it keeps up the good work..
After 4 episodes it's quite good. There is an interesting mystery, and one is intrigued about where it's going. Still, it has some of the typical problems other streaming shows have, not wanting to move the story at a reasonable pace, so they have something for the next season. But actually, the worst thing in the whole show are the hairstyles of a lot of the background cast. They completely break the immersion, as they don't fit the setting at all. Like they had them run in from a different set, and just changed the clothes.
It's Snowpiercer (again), with Rebecca Ferguson . I'm so glad Rashida Jones' character died in the first episode. I can't stand her puffy shit-face. It's depressing to look at. Like others mention here, the premise of the show has been done to death. I hope they have a new and interesting storyline.
I wish I didn't watch the first 2 episodes yet until much later in the season.
I'm just gone have to forget this one for now cause the binge factor is high on this one. Good stuff so far.
Awesome two episodes in. Is there a particular reason Rashida Jones is not listed in the cast though?
the music in this show is INCREDIBLE
Loving this show so far, look like becoming a favourite!
Great show. I'm loving it
Enjoying this show. I definitely recommend it
good first episodes.lets see if it will become on my weekly list
From the description and trailer looks like a nearly exact copy of the City of Ember (https://trakt.tv/movies/city-of-ember-2008), which I loved. Let's see how it goes  Oh.. And Rebecca

this looks really good, can't wait. The fact that its on AppleTV and not Netflix series gives a big hope
