8.3/10. A pretty damned hilarious send-up of both pokemon specifically and fads in general. The exchange between Kyle and his dad about being an individual is a great example of the show's subversive wit that was firmly present even this early in its run. There's some mild xenophobia, but it's all so ridiculous and exaggerated in true South Park style that it's impossible to take seriously, especially as contrasted with every American ignoring the threat because they're so flattered by the toy company representatives' compliments about the size of their penises. The twist that the key to stopping the fad was the parents enjoying it as well, thereby rendering it uncool, and Kyle being just one phase behind everyone else were both very clever storytelling bits. Overall, one of the most memorable episode's of the show's early going.
