It's 1999 and Moonbase Alpha has been built on the Moon to safeguard the nuclear waste shipped from Earth. When a rescue team from Earth arrives in a faster-than-light space ship, everyone is overjoyed that they can now return to Earth. But Moonbase Commander John Koenig, having undergone an experimental brain soothing process after receiving a concussion in a crash on the Lunar surface, sees not friends from Earth but gruesome monsters which have telepathically caused all others on Alpha to see an illusion of an Earth party. The aliens are desperate for radiation and plan to manipulate the Alphans into detonating nuclear waste on the Lunar surface, reducing the Moon and everyone on it to dust. Koenig must expose this conspiracy to save his people. [This is a film edit of the second season double episode "The Bringers of Wonder."]

In 1996, Fanderson released The Space: 1999 Documentary, a new 100 minute documentary in two parts. Some material was reused from the earlier Alphacon video (the Anderson, Bower and Kellett interviews), but the fan interviews, convention footage, and Hancock and Parsons interviews were dropped. The bulk of the material was new. In addition to the new interviews, there were clips from the series, clips from 1976 on-set interviews with Anderson, Freiberger, Landau, Bain, Schell and Wilson, and 1976 film of the SFX studio (the last also seen in the Alphacon video).

In 1991, Tim Mallett and Glenn Pearce produced and directed Space: 1999 Alphacon the Video for the fan club Fanderson. With interviews shot at the Alphacon convention in Leeds, in November 1990, the one hour documentary described the making of the series. In addition to interviews and footage from the convention, there are clips from the series and from 1976 film of the SFX studio.

In the late 1970s, an exhibition of costumes, models and props from Space: 1999 was mounted at Blackpool's Golden Mile Centre. Part of the display included a specially made short film that appeared on a television monitor.

As with several previous Gerry Anderson TV series, Lyons Maid produced a tie-in ice lolly. The Space: 1999 lolly continued a tradition which had begun way back with 'Fireball XL5' (Zoom) and had continued through the 1960s series including 'Stingray' (Sea-Jet), 'Thunderbirds' (Fab and Zoom), 'Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons' (Orbit) and 'Joe 90' (Zoom).

Martin Landau and Barbara Bain recorded one promo, in 1970s suits, the backdrop a massive panorama of the waste disposal area 2 in Breakaway. This promo was recorded for the US premiere on San Francisco Channel 4, but others were produced for other major US stations.

This TV movie consists of several episodes of the British TV series Space: 1999. The plot revolves around the members of an experimental lunar station and what happens when the moon is suddenly blasted out of Earth's orbit and hurtles through space. It was edited from scenes of two episodes ("Breakaway" and "War Games").

In this British made-for-television sci-fi thriller, the moon seems to be headed for disaster after a nuclear explosion sends it out of orbit and heading for a black sun. Some stranded moon-base personnel may be doomed -- unless someone comes to their rescue. This TV movie was edited from scenes of the two episodes "Collision Course" and "The Black Sun" of the TV series.
