Spice and Wolf 2008

The anime isn't bad, but teases you to death. It includes economics, something which I've never seen used in any other anime. The main plot follows a merchant and his recently acquainted "wolf girl", their quarrels and quips, and their endless flirtation which is one of the biggest teases ever. It goes on for 2 seasons riding on that fence, they're friends and partners, but not lovers, yet the show makes them speak and behave in ways as if they were while pretending not to be, holding that carrot to an unsatisfactory ending in S2.

The show is heart warming in its best moments, but becomes repetitive very quick; using the same formula, ending with S2 was inevitable. Despite having been disappointed by the ending, I think they couldn't do better without deviating or compromising the source material. In essence, this is a akin to very loooong romcom.

Recommendation : :white_check_mark:

Very interesting and a bit boring at the same time. Probably the first time I've seen an anime develop the "Economy" aspect so much, and that's a very good point. The strength of the anime comes from the character Holo, even if she sometimes exasperates more than anything else. I found the atmosphere rather pleasant, and some of the music is really good and goes perfectly with the scene in progress.

Look out : :warning:

It's the first time I don't recommend an anime that I rate 7/10, it feels weird. The anime is clearly not finished and stops even before the conclusion with Eve. I advise you to read either the Manga or the novel. Knowing that the Manga doesn't adapt everything from the novel. Everyone is free to enjoy the format they prefer. If you don't want to start from the beginning, I advise you to continue after the end of the first season. Chapter 36 for the Manga. Volume 3 for the Novel. They're making a new anime in 2024, so I hope they finish it this time. From you to me, it'll never happen.

Anime about a merchant having girl problems regarding a painfully annoying girl reaches a level of mid that shouldn't be possible! Who could have thought?

The first few episodes were simply boring, after that it became somewhat good. Plot was a bit complicated but it was interesting.
Best thing about the show was the character Holo, which made me watch it till the end. Some scenes were entirely for the fan service, but they were cute.
The ending of the show was the worst part though. They could have made another season as a lot of part of the story was still missing. But after all this time, it's probably not gonna happen. I heard a lot of praise for this show, so I was a bit disappointed after watching it.
Don't keep your hopes up, It was a decent anime. I gave it 8/10 only because of the wolf girl.

When I See Review About The Whole Series, I See So Many Negative Reviews & Some Pos. I Think I Must Giving It A Shut. But.... Hmmm. I Can't Get Anything From It. Romance? Not Really! Adventure? Not Really! Love? Not Really! Good Plot? Not Really!
This Series Have So Many Think But Not In a whole package. In Season 1 U Get 4 Good Episode And The Other Just Waste Of Time. In Season 2 U Get The Same 4 Good Episode! In General, I Feel choosing this, just another bad idea!

A story about a traveling merchant named Lawrence who one day meets a harvest deity in the form of a "wolf woman" called Holo which travels along with him to the north in search of her former hometown. While I've always heard that it is supposed to be an economics driven show it isn't really that accurate. The plot might be driven by it but the story itself is about the relationship of Lawrence and Holo. Unfortunately they seem to have forgotten about that in the second season which sees them seemingly part ways or meeting a fur trader which steals too much screentime. Since a third season never got made it would have been better to adapt the ending instead of this more filler stuff.
Given the praise I've always heard I was a bit disappointed. These voices might come from the male fans of Holo like this guy http://www.fabricerequin.com/post/category/project-holo/ who visited tons of places with a cardboard cutout of his waifu...

Good show that honestly makes economics interesting. For me though, the two main characters are why I'm watching it, so at times I did get bored with them talking about money.

I really liked the banter between the 2 leads and the the music was excellent, but the story was a lot slower than I prefer.

Nice little gem of an Anime. I wouldn’t be lying if I said the music was one of my favorite parts of the series. The music is certainly a highlight of the atmosphere building. The animation quality was top notch at some points and subpar at others, but they still did a great job building a pleasant and interesting world.

Honestly, the witty banter is absolutely my favorite part of the series. When it’s just Holo and Lawrence, the back and forth reminds me so much of my own love for witty charades.

If it feels a little slow at the start, you aren’t wrong. The story really doesn’t pickup until the 4th episode. I really wish there could be a third season to finish tying up the loose ends but alas.

Highlights of the show:
:asterisk_symbol: Cute wolf girl Holo is an incredibly interesting and mischievous character
:asterisk_symbol: I somehow learned a great deal about economics without it feeling painful

So really, it was quite good.
