Well, it is promising as a new season opener.

The new season started exactly where the previous one ended - with crying Michael and a boring script.

loading replies

So we are doing "Andromeda" this season, huh?

loading replies

While I know the show isn't great, it takes liberties with cannon, it can be "woke" at times and certain characters can be a bit annoying, I still enjoy the series. This episode was good enough for me not to check my watch during the entire episode (although I did contemplate going to use the restroom while watching Michael when she was being interrogated.

It was a nice episode. Wonder where this is going tho. Can possible be amazing or go totally nowhere.

loading replies

I'm willing to work with this premise for a while. I would much rather they reunite sooner rather than later.

loading replies

Actually not bad. Though it felt more like Star Wars and the end was a bit cheesy.

The new Book character is interesting, but his soft/tough side balancing seems a little bit awkward.

loading replies

One of the worst episodes I've watched of Star Trek. Terrible dialogue, action and drama that doesn't make sense, weak and predicable plot. It is impossible to like the main protagonist, so I don't care about the series anymore. Star Trek is dead.

loading replies

You can end up essentially anywhere in space/time, and you end up smashing directly into an age appropriate opposite sex human with a similar skin tone.

loading replies

What beautiful cinematography! Looked stunning. Really like the new universe they're setting up, well future one.

loading replies

What's up with the camera moving all over the place and the flashing lights. Man that's annoying!

loading replies

Amazing, finally! There are no white men in the future ... had to happen sooner or later!

loading replies

A beautiful return.
Hope is indeed a powerful thing, sometimes it is the only thing. May this show live long and prosper.

loading replies

This is a solid start to a new season. Can’t wait to see what they have in store.

loading replies

Michael Burnam on truth serum gas is my everything...

loading replies

So subpar and mediocre that I can't even be arsed to write something.

loading replies

5 votes??? This has not yet been aired!!

loading replies

Yesssss!!! I can't wait to see what this season of Star Trek Discovery is going to bring !!!!

loading replies

This star trek went discriminating woke.. made me stop watching.. they should not have mixed a great franchise with this much woke bullshit.. star trek was fine as it was, a good mix of race and culture..

I finally figured out whats my problem with Burnham. It's not that her acting is bad, but she is going full intensity all the time and it becomes tiresome very fast. Every scene is like a big finale of some Oscar nominated drama. Moreover, its totally at odds with the tone of the show. Reminds me of when Homeland first came out and everyone was wandering why is Carrie acting so intense all the time. I'm afraid Burnham doesn't have that excuse.

As for the show.. Well, this was intriguing. I'm digging the new setting and ideas, but at the same time it seemed like script quality is worse than ever, dialogues especially.

Slight spoiler: I hated that "Starfleet is gone. - Impossible" exchange, compete with tears in Burnhams eyes. Was that really surprising? You've gone almost 1000 years in the future, and you've already heard from your mother that there's not much going on.

That said, photography, scenography and cgi.... My god. insanely good looking show.

We'll see, season 2 had great first episode, after which it quickly went downhill.

loading replies

This was a good Doctor Who episode. It just wasn't Star Trek, though.

loading replies

That wasn’t enough. Wtf? Elongate the episodes.

loading replies

I guess I am just annoyed by the fashions of the year 3100. Why are they wearing leather look trench coats?

The clothing didn't look like it was made of future materials. Looked way too retro.

I don't think the writers put enough thought into how things would be in the future. Instead of trying to shoot the excapees with gun substitutes, there there should have been some new type of weaponry in the future like a gas or sound weapons or something else unknown today.

Star Trek: A New Hope

When Star Trek turns into Star Wars, walking straight into Coruscant Underworld, with Book Solo the smuggler carrying Jabba the glowing earthworm lol it's fun.

Can't wait for Star Trek: Return of the Federation

7/10
Yes Finally the best damn Trek ever made has returned and what a return.
Comes back stronger than ever. Wow straight away the first 2 minutes we're better, superior and more awesome and exciting than the hole of season 1 and
2 seasons of that boring, low budget cop-out of a show
star trek crapard.

Having Discovery back and now Star Trek Strange New Worlds is the only Trek I ever need in my life.

Forget Crapard let's leave that one out in the cold,
We're it belongs.

Looked promising but I didn't like everything. The holographic parrot alarm clock at the beginning was a pretty creative idea, I like such things. The visuals where also nice: A beautiful scenery, some nice Sci-Fi designs, and good CGI for a TV show.

However, I e.g. didn't always like Michael's emotions (it kinda makes sense but it still felt over the top and it's not how I remember her character) and I'm not that happy with some details/nuances. Also I don't like time travel much (mainly because the ability to change the past kinda makes everything meaningless). But the overall story (minus the time traveling) is certainly interesting, I only feel like the actual execution could be a bit better. Personally I'd like it if this show focused a bit more on exploration (like "Lost in Space" but with the scientific Starfleet touch and deep space exploration) especially as I don't like the Klingons.

(Btw: I was immediately convinced that I've seen Book (David Ajala) before (that accent is just so unique - and cool) but it drove me crazy that I couldn't remember from where I recognized him. Turns out he's Manchester Black from Supergirl :D)

The Best TV Series but camera man is epileptic. I felt dizzy watching this episode.

loading replies

Loved this. Totally out of left field. It took me a day or two before I finally realised that, random extras and gun fodder aside, there isn't one white character of note in the entire episode. What made this so cool for me was, firstly, that I DIDN'T notice until well afterward and, secondly that nobody made a thing about it at all. I have no idea whether it was intentional at all, but it was pretty immense really and, given its history for celebrating diversity, perfectly Star Trek. If it was intentional, it was genius. If not that's even better! I don't think I have EVER seen a Sci-Fi TV show episode with a purely non-white active primary cast before. Ajala and Martin-Green are both exquisite actors and just made this wonderful for me in so many ways. This is what diversity and equality should look and feel like - no noise, just something that simply IS without debate and brooks no argument. Perfect.

David Ajala makes a great addition. It’s just too obvious he’ll get with Michael. Then they have a scene of him with his shirt off that makes it more obvious.
This episode was the most fun I had watching any episode of this show. So yeah I guess I would call it the best one.

Very cool seeing David Ajala join the cast. It is rather refreshing to kick off the third season with so many funny moments while still keeping the direction always in view.

Being a drooler at under 2yo when STTOS aired, there hasn't been a Star Trek I haven't liked, which include television, movies, Internet independents, reboots, and novels. Star Trek Discovery just takes us in a different direction than the other Star Trek series' have, but then again, wasn't each unique in their own way, trying something different, with maybe TNG and Voyager being closer to each other after polishing off the rough edges that both Enterprise and Discovery intentionally have to still try to show older tech while our own real and movie tech make advanced de-evolved show tech.

Season 3 of Discovery looks like a lot of fun. I hope most enjoy it as much as I'm sure I will. Onward to what the future might hold, considering that there is a future... a future in which to watch the episodes to come.
