Weakest episode so far. Not much really happens: a car chase, Agnes in a very shallow and boring conversation with the Queen (is she an ally or a foe?), being not very subtly preached about contemporary immigration policies (which could have probably been better told by integrating this into the more fictional 2024 bell riots instead of telling a story about contemporary politics), Picard encountering the next person that represents mostly inconsequential fan service.
We are four episodes into this season and still I don't understand what they are doing there, what they are looking for, who's involved, what's their goal. And neither do the protagonists seem to know (with perhaps the exception of the Queen who won't tell. Why not? Didn't she take them to the past so they could get a job done for her? Why wouldn't she tell them their goal?). I gave this season much leeway to tell the story and I liked that the story was bit mysterious and opaque and slow but four episodes in, the story needs to be more concise and more consequential. I don't want to watch the protagonists get lost in contemporary California, experience mini-adventures (as much fun diversion this night be) but not to know what they are really supposed to do 'cause their mission is shrouded by some sort of - what seems to me - artificial riddles which were only added by writers to fill time.
Always liked Laris and hoped to see her more, so they did at least something right.
I usually hate fan service, but this episode was totally fun. I needed this today.
What an awesome and completely intense joy of time!
This show is incredible and this episode was absolutely modern art and after this episode I really don't give a stuff what else has to be said,
The Line "They took off their hoods but put suits on".
That was me continuing with this diamond and I'm a white man and I was like Really.....Yes...just...yes.
How done you take something as awesome and exciting like going back in time to fix the prime timeline and make it even better....I don't actually know
what this is except complete awesome piece of art.
That car chase was just awesome the star trek IV nod was incredible this hole show is just awesome and at this juncture I'm going to have to enjoy..enjoy these next 6 episodes out.
I just want it to continue
I just want the joy to never end
JOY...NEVER END....PLEASE
Thank you so much my dear Friends from Trakt community I was so scared after watching this episode that I have start loosing my memories but your comments show me I am still good.
After the start of alternate timeline with 3 new movies of Star Trek which only purpose was to earn money by changing universe from Trekky to Die Hard franchise, and then ST Discovery with spore drive stupidity and all of that are absolite because now you can transform yourself from one part of the galaxy to a next one and the object can even move in warp speed bullshit.
And everything for all mighty dollar. Now the big chiefs of Paramount wanted to cash in all the chips that were accumulated over the years in Trekky community, lots of love , lots of trust and a world of imagination were you can rest your mind from this reality.
That's why I welcomed with all my heart the Picard series. First season was woow. When I heard season 2 is coming I was , and after this episode I was ha? Really?now you can write Star Trek not knowing anything about previous episodes but even so why someone else didn't react? Bad humor, car chasing, shallow plot, Mr. Checkov in the hospital, even stupid fall looked almost the same as Pavel, come on....but I would buy it if I wasn't shocked and started overthinking Picard and Guinen connection.
My purpose that I came here was to ask for help that maybe I missed something about Picard and Guinen but many of you already wrote comment about that. Guinan was waiting for 250 years or something to be able to speak to Picard about what happened in the past. Why didn't they talk about it in 2025 they both had knowledge and didn't have to keep secret. That scene would be soooo great. Instead of her almost shooting Picard.
I do understand that some trekk communities enjoy new shows i watched them also but I didn't enjoy as much as original universe. So when Picard was announced I was glad and all the connection to old series was great but what Mrs. Whoopi Goldberg brought to show was gold and that Gold should be better polished.
I know I am going to watch special episode with Wil Wheaton he will explain everything to me...
So, let me see what we got here.
A stupid "hommage" scene to Star Trek IV that wasn't funny.
A muscle packed Guinan who's given up on humanity. Since Q changed the actual timeline and not created a fantasy, how does that actually work that she doesn't recognize Picard althought they have met in "Time's Arrow" ?
A totally unnecessary car chase scene with the usual amount of smart comments. Seems like Raffi and Seven are now the comedic relief.
More on-the-nose comments about contemporary earth. I miss the old episodes where you actually had to use your brain to make connections instead of being served pre-chewed food on a silver plate.
And at the end we see Orla Brady as (supposedly) The Watcher. Something that, in my opinion, seems to be just to have a role for her to play. Because I don't believe she's anything else than the Laris we've seen so far in the normal timeline.
I do feel sorry for Annie Wersching who's only hanging around (literally) instead of actually doing something.
It's a mess at this point.
How did they manage to turn a premise that's usually ST gold (visiting Earth in the past) into the most boring ST season of them all. Cliched and boring.
High points...Kirk J. Thatcher reprising his role as the punk rocker on the bus from Star Trek IV: Voyage Home and Brian Quinn from Impractical jokers. Everything else...utterly unremarkable.
I've gotten to the point where if they start talking I hit the jump forward button. The best part of this episode was the very ending !
This was a solid eight-star episode that worked its way down to five stars for its relentless and entirely unnecessary woke social commentary that added NOTHING to the story. And it's just all the more enjoyable when full-of-themselves writers air out their inner unappreciative jackhats by ripping on law enforcement types by making them the heartless bad guys while making the lawBREAKERS sympathetic characters. Idiots.
The commentary on the current political state of the world is a bit on the nose. It's not going to educate anyone or change anything so what's the point? We already live in this mess of a world as are fully aware it's not the utopia of the Star Trek universe.
Onto better things though... Was the Borg Queen flirting with Jurati? Um?
And I'm always happy with more Seven content. She's just wonderful.
It started out OK but then they had to add in all of the stereotypical political commentary stuff...that kinda had me fast forwarding...when Guinan says something to the effect, "they took off the robes and put on suits" referencing the KKK and how people of color are treated in 2024...that was a bit much...and I am a "person of color." I seriously don't think that Guinan and Picard would have such strong feelings about 2024 and find the need to waste their precious time venting about a time 400 years in their past! It'd be like me going back in time to the 1600's and complaining about the treatment of women! The writers could have left out all of that political nonsense because we know how these "in a mirror darkly" episodes go, we know there is always some totalitarian version of Earth that Trek folks go back in time to try and change. We know they will find the past they go back to to be "under developed and barbaric." Instead, the writers could have focused more on the Agnes/Borg Queen interaction...that would have been fun!
And her we go again with the woke bullshit. Another really crappy episode thanks to the woke mob at pedowood.
Season 2 was going great after the wreckage that was Season 1 almost made me cancel another Star Trek series. Then this episode happened and I again questioned why I'm spending precious funds from my time bank on this show. I'm going to dump this too if the leftist commentaries don't stop.
what an issue with ICE agents...
Here’s an idea to blend in, take the stupid huge communicator off the outer garment and wear it underneath instead so nobody can see it. Or put it in your pocket?
Best scenes are those with the Borg Queen, everything else is trying to push some social commentary agenda; thank god for the fast forward.
Woke garbage again. After the past two episodes, I'm done with this series.
Just here for Jurati and the Borg Queen. Everything else, mostly meh. Though I did like the actress who played Guinan, and I always like Rios.
I believe there was nod to Star Trek 4 with that bus scene.
Well, it's still kinda fun in a completely different way.
A bit more screentime for Dr. Teresa Ramirez :)
And Agnes is becoming dangerous again... :o I don't like how she upsets the Borg queen - that seems like a very dangerous thing to do. Sure, she should probably not interact too much with her to be safe but she didn't have to be that mean.
Then again, it's super weird that the Borg queen doesn't manage to take over the ship again.
I was 50/50 on not watching more episodes after the last, but this one pushed me over the edge. I can almost guarantee that I can watch the last episode and not really miss any major plot points in the episodes that I skipped. Engage the Spore Drive and take me to the final episode, please.
1/10
So they tracked the communicator to the hospital, find Rios isn't their then just walk right back out without picking up said communicator first.
I'm Done..
1/10
What a complete and utter boring waste of time.
This show is bullshit and this episode was absolutely woke Garbage and after this episode I really don't give a stuff what else has to be said,
The Line "They took off their hoods but put suits on".
That was me done with this rubbish and I'm a black man and I was like Really.....No...just...no.
How done you take something as awesome and exciting like going back in time to fix the prime timeline and turn it into this....I don't actually know
what this is except complete sjw woke bull-crap.
That car chase was just pointless the star trek IV nod was ridiculous this hole show is just awful and at this juncture I'm going to have to Grind..grind these next 6 episodes out.
I just want it over
I just want the pain to end
PAIN...END....PLEASE
Erm... after the first 2 really good episodes, this went downhill pretty fast. Why do 10 episodes if you spent 2 of those with that stupid Rios subplot which contributes exactly nothing except adding even more stupidity with that car chase. It's saying something if the highlights of this episode are Agnes and the Borg Queen.
I'm not even going into that Guinan conversation... and Q's losing his powers?
On a sidenote: I found the Star Trek IV-shoutback scene funny... that is until that guy just gave up... I'd have loved some Seven-like resolution here.

Outside of a fun homage to Star Trek IV, there's not much substance to this episode --or this season so far. Most of this episode was stuff to fill the minutes, just fluff and no substance.
