@finfan I admired Picard in the first season thanks to his ability to confront others. He is very good with aliens too.
The Nagilum character was interesting, but I was hoping for a more scientific mystery, maybe investigating a wormhole or something like that, instead of having another superior entity to defeat somehow.
Good episode, though.

Was he bluffing? Destruction sure was serious decision to take. My favourite part was the use of a beacon to create the fixed point in space and the sound effect to give you a sense of distance LOL

Creepiest episode. That face...you know the one. (shivers)

When that thing's face appeared out of nowhere, I laughed. It looked comical.

How many entities/species/whatever that are omnipotent and have complete control to do whatever they please with and against humans have Star Trek crews run into? It's a miracle humans manage to survive through all of these endeavors, considering just how many all-powerful beings there seem to be. You'd think life would be extinct by now.

It truly is baffling how much they make Pulaski suck. The comments about Data were so forced and unnecessary. Extra baffling because, unlike I originally thought, Pulaski was not intended to be some sort of stopgap filler. Gates McFadden was straight-up fired after S1, and Pulaski was the replacement, intended to be permanent. But fans and the rest of the cast rallied to bring McFadden back in S3.
It was weird that the entity made note of Pulaski being different, but it just meant she was female. Because Troi was also standing with the rest of them right there, and she's obviously female as well, but that seemed to go unnoticed. I was wondering if that meant Pulaski was secretly something else, but I don't think that's the case.

You smug bit*h. Show some respect for Data.

I don't really know what to make of this episode. It's one of the franchise's many "we're stuck in a void" and "we're in an alien zoo" episodes. Both concepts can make great episodes but this episode seems unpolished. It's also a mystery episode that I usually don't like. It explores Picard's superior intellect alright. And it reminds me why I dislike Pulaski. Why was she portrayed as such a horrible person?

Worse than mediocre. It feels like a leftover concept from one of TOS' countless demigod scripts. And that chimp? Come on, they can do better!

Picard faces his most devious foe yet…his deepfake

The Doctor is clearly biased to machines, therefore my view on the Doctor is negative now. I forgot to mentioned, the better looking Number One, it was very weird to see him with no facial hair lol, in the first season he looked very young compared to his season 2 appearance. Another red shirt bites the dust. The discussion between Picard and Data is fascinating and is the highlight of the episode.

So there's a black guy in a red shirt at the helm nobody has ever seen before and he gets killed for no apparent reason other than satisfying the curiosity of that omnipotent entity. Yeah, that's Star Trek.
