Star Wars Resistance 2018

Fist episode is pretty bad, unfortunately

The part of the Star Wars universe we care less about gets it's own show of course. If only Disney could understand that superhero movies and shows are terrible without the superheroes. Would you watch a Superman movie that focuses on Jimmy Olsen?

I wanted to give this a chance since I loved TCW and Rebels. So even after the first episode turned out to be awful I tried to be positive and open minded. I wasn't even deterred by the rather low rating of 65 %. But when I saw 4,9 on imdb with roughly 25 % giving this a 1 I gave up. I always tell people to form their own opinion but it is hard to believe this is from the same people that did the previous shows.
Maybe I watch some episodes on the side but in general I think I'm done with this.

Now, after I wrote this I read that Filoni created this but wasn't the show-runner and instead had other people run this. And suddenly all falls into place. This was the missing piece of information.

Not impressed with Star Wars Resistance at all. its boring lack luster. i just can't seem to get into it.

Doesn't feel like Star Wars. Super Disneyfied. Characters are not very deep or memorable yet. We'll see as it goes on, but it feels very hollow so far.

Edit: After the first 5 or 6 episodes it starts to get way better. Feels like Star Wars now! I just didn't give it enough time.

Could take it or leave it. It has its moments that surprised me, but for the most part things never really took off with this show and it feels like a pretty big dud compared to other Star Wars animated series. The characters aren't as well written and the show doesn't do enough to make you feel attached to them. Watchable enough to get through the two seasons as a Star Wars fan but never particularly liked it.

Personally I'd rate this show much higher than Clone Wars, for instance. At least SW:Resistance does a good job expanding the universe , while other animation series I've seen just follow the pattern "fill 90% of screentime with the action, the rest is irrelevant".

It does get better if that's what you're wondering. Season 2 is definitely better than Season 1. But it never gets good.
It's clearly meant for a younger audience, which is fine. It just really doesn't offer anything for older fans. There's not much nuance or complexity to the stories or characters.

The sequel trilogy could really benefit from a show that fills in and enriches the story of the Resistance and the First Order, but this is not that show. There's nothing essential here, so unless you have young ones to watch it with, I recommend skipping this show. If you're just here as a completionist like I am, godspeed!

I definitely feel like I wasted time watching this animated series. Not even close to Star Wars Rebels, and rebels not being anywhere close to Clone wars. This is the worst Star Wars series yet. I finished watching it because I am a Star Wars Fan, have been for 42 years. And if more crappy shows come out like this one I will watch them because they are Star Wars, but what can one do. Watch The Mandalorian. Now that is awesome!
