Really love the Cad Bane character! Zero... not as much.
Such a great episode to end the first season, I really loved it. Fun to watch Anakin try to survive without his lightsaber. Plus Cad Bane is such a cool character, I can't wait to see him again in future episodes!!
8.2/10. Certainly had one of the more epic and cinematic feels of any Clone Wars episode so far. The Anakin-Padme dialogue was a cheesy and stilted as their exchanges in the actual prequel films, but otherwise there was a lot of tension and excitement here. Cad Bane is always a welcome presence with his combination of Clint Eastwood and Werner Herzog personality, and seeing him get the upper hand on Palpatine and Anakin for a while was enjoyable. The episode had a certain Die Hard feel to it that definitely worked.
I also liked taking away Anakin's lightsaber (even if the way they did it was kind of contrived) and showing him having to improvise without it. It made him vulnerable in a way that was believable and gave added stakes to the story. I'm not sure what Aurra's doing out and about after the events of "Assassin" but I assume it's just a product of my watching in chron order and a few things getting mixed up. Ziro's an amusing presence still, and it's nice to see 1. the show not shy away from showing how ruthless the bounty hunters are and 2. showing the good guys losing even if they make it out unscathed. Quality ep.
What an anti-climax. The episode just kinda... ends. It feels like the start to a two parter but isn't . Anakin and Padme continue to win the idgaf wars on keeping their relationship a secret. Like face caressess in front of the galactic senate. These are deeply unserious people.
It's also absolutely hilarious how down despicable Anakin is. giving Padme his lightsaber for no reason because its "life" Its so fucking corny but I love it.
Damn, Mace Windu really is something different
so this follows the episode in season 3 where the droids get the plans to the building stolen. It's shown out of order here.

I'm surprised to read that Cad Bane is a fan favourite character. I find him a bit dull and contrived, plus I don't like his voice and his hat looks stupid.
Chronologically this takes place during early season 3, so we've already met a few of these bounty hunter characters.
A decent episode. I liked the tight focus and sneaking around. Couldn't help but notice that the dialogue between Padme and Anakin recalled the cringey stuff from the prequel films.
