Stargate SG-1: Season 3

3x02 Seth

A pleasant enough little episode that doesn't do much, but still works well. It makes really good use of location shooting and provides wonderfully atmospheric shots of misty, rainy Canadian woods. The highlight of the episode is probably Teal'c attempt to tell a joke.

We meet a new Goa'uld in Seth, but he doesn't leave much of an impression (apart from the dent he leaves in the ground, I guess). There's some nice material for Jacob as we learn about his estrangement from his son, but the resolution falls very flat. I always appreciate Stargate's use of continuity between episodes, so this retroactively calls back to elements of 'Family' and how Teal'c's son was brainwashed. Here we also see Sam's first successful use of Goa'uld technology, although it turns out to be overkill.
