“You're suing Greenpeace? I like your style Greg. Who's next? Save the Children?.”
Maybe I’m being hyper critical but this season really lacks flow. It feels like there aren’t really any subplots, the main focus is just on one thing only, and that plot isn’t moving a whole lot either. It's mid season, and there's still no serious plot progression. It's like the show is just spinning wheels and doesn't know where it wants to go. Frank desperately stalling on stage this episode felt like a coded cry for help from the writers.
Not a big fan of this episode, mostly because I was expecting this to be a turning point in the season. They’ve been hyping the shareholders meeting since season 1 episode 8, and in the end, it was resolved with a few board seats and private jets. It felt pretty anticlimactic, and a total and complete cop-out. There was no tension because we already know they wouldn't lose the company or else the series ends right there. Also, we are into the 3rd season and the hierarchy hasn't been changed at all, it looks like the writers don't know a way forward without Logan in charge and keep going in circles - all the events that have taken place so far are shown to be huge but just end up being none issues. I’m surprised at how quickly they dropped Lisa Arthur or the DOJ investigation, for example.
We have watched 5 episodes of this season and I still have no clue what's the point of Kendall right now? The writers did very little with it given last season’s pivotal cliffhanger. Kendall was never this dumb before. It feels like he’s just kind of aimless this season, painfully ineffectual. I think the writers are planning to revisit this plotline of Kendall going after his dad, then fail. I hope I'm wrong.
Overall, there's still some great little moments (“It would be great to get the body up there”, Colin rushing off with the imaginary dead cat bag, “If he can do people, he can do rabbits”, the irony of saying they care about women and then cutting that video off) but I just couldn't really get into this episode. I hope the real action starts next week.
Greg scenes are painful to watch. It’s been 3 season and he’s still the same idiot. Adults normally grow over time unless they are retarded or mentally challenged. He doesn’t seem like a retard so why make his character a retarded idiot.
It's like that game where the players are tossing a ticking bomb around and around hoping it won't explode in their hands but in someone else's. And I know this is not what Logan meant in the season premiere when he said they can't just throw bombs without getting themselves burnt as well, but seeing Ken and Shiv ruthlessly dumped by their father after one navigated the deal from behind and the other actually saved the day reminded me of that quote a bit.
Interesting peak at halftime, Roman and Jerri seem to be getting the upper hand so far by playing along nicely, we'll see how long that lasts. Also Connor was fucking hillarious, he keeps upping his game episode by episode, maybe that will blow up in his face at some point?
Still not reach the many heights of season 2 yet, but it's this season's best episode so far. Maybe randomly it reminds me of "Tern Haven", not as precise as that because this is on a thrillingly grander scale, but still nail-biting/darkly funny to see the Roy kids scramble for approval and solutions in the same vein.
Not sure how this doesn't have a much larger average rating. There's so much going on in this episode, most of great.
But seriously - Kendall has all the capabilities and constantly screws it up. Can Shiv seriously get stuffed yet? I'm hoping Logan finally knives her, like he's done with Kendall. Greg continues to be the biggest loser. He has everything given to him and can rarely make a decision for himself. And Connor is such a incapable loser its not funny.
Superb episode. This show gives me more laughs than any comedy, ten out of ten ..bravo.
There's a world where Roy's family is having a bad time and panicking at what they will do after Logan's being out of touch at the annual shareholders meeting.
Meanwhile, at the corner, Greg and his little world try to sue his grandpa over his inheritance. (Classic Succession)!
A bottle episode of sorts. One that left me utterly enraptured. Curve ball after curve ball. But the only thing left in the wake are the burnt bridges.
This is not as exciting as Yellowstone.
So they kinda lost me here cause I don’t get what’s everyones’ ultimate goal… especially Kendall’s, like he wants to be CEO and wants to take his dad down, but also didn’t want the vote thing to happen? And why did he go to that island with his dad to visit that shareholder? I don’t get him
this is one of the best pieces of television i've ever seen, they continue to outdo themselves.
Not great, not terrible.
Greetings..
