OK Alex new haircut definitely sucks :-P
Promising premiere. A bit slow for my taste, but still good nonetheless. I loved this sort of brand-new Ksra willing to keep the world moving without Superman being there. However, what I liked the most was having her being a reporter again. Words can't describe how happy I am to see her working at CatCo and helping Nia out. She's really a good mentor. I can't wait to see more on Nia. She seemed so damn sweet and hopeful. Her explanation about connecting clothes with feelings was actually pretty interesting and lovely. I barely know her and I just want her to succeed at CatCo.
The whole Lena thing is unnerving me. Why are the writers constantly toying with the idea of Lena being evil? I wonder if they're going the Superman route, with them being friends at the beginning and becoming enemies at the end of the day. I'd hate Lena to become evil, but I hate the writers more for not even allowingher to discover that Kara is actually Supergirl.
Alex keeps on being a badass with a new haircut, which I don't really like. I need to see more of boss Alex. Her relationship with Brainy is shaping to be a good one. But Brainy is no Winn, and I'm definitely missing him, especially his relationship with James, which I thought was the only good thing James has.
So now that everyone knows that the president is an alien those stupid assholes who were already bitching about aliens will keep on behaving the same way.
I'm glad Lillian Luthor is staying. I love the actress and her dynamic with Lena.
Why? Why? Why? Just end this terrible pile of unprofessional something. I wanted to watch it just for the crossover, but hell no, this is the stupidest series I have ever seen. Badly written, bad characters, and this missinformed sjw bullshit in it, pff pfff pfff. I thought CW has standards.
Now this is an episode on racism and other types of prejudice done right. The lack of references to any specific groups allows the viewer to measure the ideas against the facts about the world that they know, be it personal stories or general information. As long as the alt-right are getting support and Trump is president, episodes like this one are needed and timely. I also felt like the part about Nia being afraid to "make waves" could be interpreted as a reference to trans people being so concerned about passing that they would rather keep their heads down, although it is only apparent to those who know about the actress being trans.
I really like Kara as a mentor
Have they ever explained why Lena has a British accent and her mother doesn't?
Solid premiere. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

It's a new season of Supergirl and no Mon-El in sight! What an upgrade!
In all seriousness, I thought this was a good premiere. I liked the contrast between the angsty Kara from the beginning of season 3 and the happy one we saw here. I really hope she spends more of her time at CatCo. It used to be such an important part of her life, but she was barely ever there in the last two seasons. I want to see her mentor Nia and really come into her own as a reporter.
Speaking of Nia, I already like her. She's so sweet and vibrant. Also shoutout to Supergirl for giving trans people more representation. Nicole Maines is a great addition to the show.
Alex and Brainy's dynamic is fun. It makes sense that they're both gonna need some time to get used to each other, especially since Brainy is still getting accustomed to living in 2018. I think it's gonna be a good brOTP.
Am I the only one who thinks that they're toying with the idea of evil Lena again? It feels like they want to create a parallel between Clark and Lex's relationship and Kara and Lena's where they went from friends to mortal enemies. We know Lena is doing research that she's not supposed to with the substance from Argo and she seems to be going darker in general. I don't feel good about this.
So the cat's out of the bag about the President being an alien. I guess the hateful assholes who are trying to 'reclaim the Earth" or some shit are gonna be even more insufferable now.
