great ending to a pretty good first season. lots of things left unresolved to carry into season 2, but enough was tied up that it feels satisfying to finish the 22nd episode. something about this feels SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult than their usual hunts, so idk how i feel about this episode being written at the same pace as the others. i wish there were something that made it feel more drammatic than just two lines explaining the gravity of the situation. sam and dean have already developed so much as characters just in this first season. this is such a fantastic show.

You can repeat the same line of dialogue at least three times in an episode before it’s bad writing, right? Oh wait, I forgot - it was always bad writing.

this is unrelated to this episode specifically but i'm grateful for this show. when i'm having a bad day spn is always there to pick me back up. demonic possessions, family drama, and all.

The first season finale is pretty darn good. The first season is awesome. There are a few stinkers as the show tries to find it's feet. There are at least 8 really good episodes and and a hand of decent ones.
