The Boys

Season 2

yeah, this season for me was kinda meh... putting aside all the blunders that were so painfully obvious, there is the issue of characters always appearing or being there just at the right time that imo bothered me more than it should have... and of course there is the never ending modern day drama about races, homosexuality and all that american bullshit and how could forget the undying antagonists of humanity, the nazis... like seriously? who writes this shit? some jews?

Season 2 is just as good as season 1. The only thing I'm starting to notice is that the boys are getting out of trouble way too easily quite frequently, which takes the suspense away. But suspense is not what the show is there for anyways.

I actually liked Season 2 more than Season 1. It felt like they found a better balance between the silly / gory / edgy tone and the more serious underlying themes of nationalism, discrimination, MAD, etc.

I also really liked the introduction of Stormfront's character. The way they initially present her as this millennial feminist / LGBTQ icon, then slowly unspool that to show how that stuff is not mutually exclusive (and indeed, sometimes is just another side of the coin) of white privilege and white supremacy... Plus the way they tie her Nazi backstory into the history of America post-WWII (look up how many prominent Nazi scientists and thinkers ended up receiving amnesty and bringing their voices and work to the USA), and the recent rise in far-right reactionary nationalism... chef's kiss.

Big drop in writing quality from 1st to 2nd season. Some of the episodes in the mid-season were downright bad, even if others were fun. Guess I'll cut loose.

This season was better-paced and slightly more eventful, but at the same time, it gave me the impression that the main plot did not progress much. Both the Supes and the Boys are starting to show their contradictions, and a reasonable time has been devoted to exploring their characters and backstories. I enjoyed the new cast (Stormfront in particular), but I am still waiting for that one character who will make me fall in love. Surprisingly enough, Homelander is still the most interesting of the bunch. It's just frustrating that the plot keeps going around in circles and resetting the status quo each time. The gore was fun at the beginning, but it's starting to get redundant.

This season was good, but still I have some problems with it. Some dialogue was cringe and dumb, like in the last episode French saying out loud to get the grenades and the RPG in the car instead of picking it up before Stormfront finds them (there was time). This makes the characters dumber and we should believe they killed supers before.

Other things I didn't like is that this season ended like the beginning of season 1, basically we came to square one and there were no much consequences for the actions of the main cast and the supers. To me it seems they ended the series and don't know what to do next. This is not good. They should improve the writing, or they should've followed the comics beat by beat, because when they deviate from the comics it shows they are not so good at writing. And look, the original creator of the comics was not good either, but still the story advanced and there were consequences.

great but why is it a weekly release? The show, so far at least, is written for binge-viewing.

If you except two episodes this season was really good. Some dumb decisions and the fact that the right people were in the right place in the right annyoed me becauce it happened too many times and it was 100% predictable.Still liked the ending and i can't wait to go and see season 3. 8.5/10

Still recommendable even after the second season .... But the sequel does not come close to the grandioseness of the outstanding first season. The bar was probably too high to be able to exceed it, and that doesn't change the explosion of numerous heads!
Nevertheless I'm looking forward to another third season.

Although not as focused and gripping as the first season, season 2 is still a very enjoyable watch. Feels like they really cranked up the satire which on the one hand was really funny but also means it is tackling much more subplots. It felt like things were not moving forward as fast as season 1 but the incredible finale really brings all the elements together for what feels like a satisfying resolution (even though there is a season 3, this ending had a note of finality to it with where many of the characters are left off). The highlight of the season is definitely everything revolving around the conflicts centering around Ryan, his mother, Homelander, and Billy leading to probably the most emotional scenes of the entire show so far.

Just finished the season and all I can say is fucking hell. I haven’t watched something so interesting and so raw in a long time. I love everything about this show and cannot wait to see where it goes in the future.

Very excited that [spoiler] stormfront is dead! But not excited by how they did it first off all she hit MM with thunder that is shown to kill people previously and all she did with it was toss him around. I was expecting at least some serious casualties or near deaths. Also I hated that Lamplighter killed himself instead of just lighting a fire and escaping. But I guess it did not matter cause his head would have gotten blown off anyway. I wonder what the condition for the lady to use her head explosion power is and how come she did not take that chance to kill homelander.

Absolutely insane. Some will say the start up was slow, but it was a great burn, that final along will make anyone shed a tear of joy. 8/10 season, still much more work to do for a perfect score, but nevertheless fantastic!

This season felt like they were more confident on everything: fun, violence, satire, drama, superhero stuff, crazy over the top set pieces. And the ending is great.

Could've gone on longer but for how long it was its action packed and a great continuation of season 1. Wild finish too.
