The more answers we get, the more questions they open. I hate that and I love that at the same time.
I haven't read the books so this is pure speculation.
It seems they're going down the "ancient civilization gone extinct" road, with the sphere being some kind of "hub", numerous gates (we see a dozen of them in the first shot, then dozens more) being seen collapsing / going dark except for one at which the Nucleus fires a beam : what appears to be the Sol star goes boom. It'd be a bit weird to show the Sol system being seeminlgy destroyed as the vision is kind of a "rewind and play", maybe it's a warning to Humanity (like the speed limit inside the sphere being lowered after the grenade was used) ? The synopsis stating Holden sees past, present, and future. It's unclear if the gates closing down / going dark are a direct action of the proto-molecule or some kind of defense against a yet unnamed third-party (intergalactic war between two alien factions ?).
The reoccurence of the bird also seems to indicate that the one Miller saw on Ceres was already a protomolecule hallucination, maybe to guide him to Julie ?
To think there are three more episodes in the season... good thing it was picked up after SyFy dropped it. Maybe I should start reading the books ?
PS: the protomolecule really loves recycling humans.
I can't believe we have to waste our time following a whining psychotic bitch with daddy issues, like really?
Same goes with the martians, you're thinking about arresting/killing a random dude while inside an alien energy-tunnel nobody knows anything about?! They look so foolish and dumb. You'd think something this huge would make them look at each other as fellow human beings.
What is really sad and annoying at the same time is the narrow-mindedness of the people. And I mean everyone. No matter if it is Earth, Mars or The Belt. They all care only for themselves. This is what holds back humanity in our time and one hopes that such things will change in the future.
I was enjoying this season A LOT, until I watched this episode. It felt like Legion in space. And I do like Legion, just not in space. I hope things won't be as trippy for the rest of the season.
The tense relationship between Drummer and Ashford is getting quite interesting.
Anna already felt out-of-place during the last episode so it's nice that she finally realizes it by herself. I liked her much more back on Earth but maybe she'll have an important role to fulfill.
The Martians aren't the smartest ones... :o I guess one could call them trigger happy (wack jobs) :D I'm pretty shocked that even Bobbie fired at Jim! The ending seemed pretty concerning (in multiple ways - at least the physics seem to be different inside "The Ring", otherwise the people onboard of the ships would be dead (like the slingshotter) if they get decelerated that abruptly/quickly from up to 18 000 kph to 0 kph).
First slow episode on The Expanse after a while. Melba's plot is uninteresting and is really dragged out, same with the story that revolves around the reverend. The tense between Holden and The Martian group is reckless and unconvincing - they are in the exact center of alien artifacts - of all things they could possibly do, they insist on capturing Holden? At least Holden's quest with his old friend is interesting, I love each conversation they are having, but the cut between each character's journey is distracting to say the least.
Way too dragged out with Holdens hesitation and all the bullshit treachery. Still better than any of the Discovery season 2 episodes though.
In the opening intro song of the series, you can see a large blue-ish big ball at the end where all the planets are aligned in a straight line.
Well, that was more than a little bit trippy.
What, The?... Yet another Awesome, Mind-Bending Ending, If it comes to pass and that Protomolecule Beam hits the Sun, then as we understand it, so much life will cease to exist.
I've not read the books, so I don't know what's going to happen, and I don't want to know, however, I'm going to say that the Protomolecule as a few tricks up its sleeve. Roll on next week.
I always strongly disliked the Anna character in the books, and now with Elizabeth Mitchell's portrayal (along with her usual scenery chewing performance antics - I swear, future online dictionaries will have one of the scenes in tonight's episode as the video description when you search for define:"chewing the scenery"), I am being taken to a whole new level of hatred.
Genius casting? Possibly. (if the authors dislike the Anna character as much as I do)
Annoying the crap out of me personally...Definitely!!
Other than the Anna scenes, this was a great episode and would have got a 10 from me
Miller continues to lead Holden into the center of the mysterious ring and all the secrets that it holds. Apparantly it's ancient civilization tech, a people lost to time, but who's work still stands. Within the center of the ring holds the truth of everything that the protomolecule has lead to.
Inside the OPA war ship, there is a battle between two factions of the resistance group vying to be the true leader of the people, but for very different reasons: one reluctant and careful, while the other searching for glory and grandour.
Meanwhile the Reverand is dealing with an evolving mystery of the universe as presented by the uncertainty of the Ring.
They brought Bobbi back! But the Martian Marine is working with the UN, ordered to bring in Holden, as he is a new enemy. Bobbi and her crew follow Holden into the center of the ring, inside a weird tech blue room, like a center mainframe. Moments before Holden connects with the alien tech, a Martian shots at him, but the tech fights to protect Holden, putting everyone in animated suspension for they are now a threat. Holden places his hand in the tech and sees everything!

The hell with that, the same suspense at the end of each episode, extremely good episode, I dunno how I am gonna wait for the next episode now XD
There is a lot of physics out there, I think it may be the paralle universes or the wormholes.
And of course the famous Amos quote
