I was never much of a Flash comics reader. I know the general story and I watched the 90s show. For a pilot that was OK. Starts some interesting plots. Not shure if it would had convinced me to watch the series had I watch it 4 years ago but for now I will stick with.
Thankfully, there was less "Twilight" in this one, than in "The Amazing Spiderman", but still, it's way too fake. The problem is, like the beginning of the Bronze Age of comic books, the series is looking for cultural relevance. I understand they have a budget and need ratings and $$, but when the overall quality of the series suffers, it's not an excuse.
"The Flash" lacks personality. Before starting the first episode, I watched the direct-to-video "Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox". "Flashpoint Paradox" wasn't amazing; it was cliched and predictable. But it was fun to watch, and it had a story to tell. And it moved me. "The Flash" failed. Actually, it failed the very moment twerking was mentioned. There's enough twerking in the world without it entering superhero comic book adaptations, goddammit. This is escapist stuff, it should have that feeling, atmosphere. The stuff those dumb "Kick-Ass" comics and movies lack. A soul. Class. Imagine Batman in JLU singing "Wrecking Ball" instead of "Am I Blue?".
Instead I get an origin story mostly copied from Sam Raimi's 2002 "Spiderman".
I'm still going to give this show a chance, they say it gets better later on. But seeing how Green Arrow was portrayed - pretty sure I'm not wasting my time on Arrow.
It was... a sad experience. I had high expectations.
Awesome! I'm so exited! I even finished the episode tearing...
Okay... I'm so hyped for the rest of this series..
Reminds me of the old days.
This show is utterly terrible, yet I keep watching. The writers are horrible. The basic B plot items make no sense. For example, in the last season 2 characters announce they are moving away. Within minutes Iris, who is the boss off one of them is interviewing replacements and including the person who is being replaced. I know the show is about a speedster, but it is ridiculous to have this woman be able to schedule and conduct interviews in the same day or maybe the next day that she hears that the person is leaving.
The other thing that really irks me is the way they handle scientists. This is one of the shows that made the moronic meme of smart people holding multiple Ph.D.s popular. Ph.D.s are a research degree which means they are backed by months or years of research. They are also a stamp of approval to do more research but with less supervision. Some schools let people combine Ph.D.s with other degrees such as MDs. Some people with Ph.D.s go back to school in a different field for a different Doctorate because they want to do something else. This is rare, but I have seen it. That said, no genius who gets a Ph.D. in a hard science would get another one. They would go off to a job in industry or maybe do a Postdoc. This gross misrepresentation really cheapens what it takes to earn a Ph.D. in a hard field and become an expert. And FFS almost every show has Sisko solving what would take billions of dollars, a team of people with (just one) PhDs and years to perform R&D in a day or 2. I honestly think terrible writing like this makes some idiots who watch this think that science is super easy and fast and that is why they have no problem disrespecting 100s or 1000s of experts when they refuse to listen to them on things like vaccines and masks.
The pilot was good, but this inclusion bullshit has got to stop...
Ah those damn meteor freaks
4 minutes into the first episode, and so far we have:
– Pretty dumb script. My dad gave me that pen. Right before he died. Yeah... was that supposed to be funny, or something?
– Bad acting in general... and extremely bad acting from the Flash himself.
– A tad of scientific mumbo jumbo. You know, when the writers regurgitate a bunch of technical scientific-ish words, in the hope that nobody will notice they don't make any sense.
– And 2 minutes later, here we go. Teen romance (unrequited at least for the first season and a half, I guess).
I was hoping this would be slightly less awful than Supergirl, but it's actually worse.
I'll never know how people are able to endure watching this... let alone enjoy it, or rate it with a 10/10, as if it were a masterpiece.
been cryin for 45 min straight what the fck
This might one of the worst television pilots I've ever subjected myself to.
Already hate this.
CGI is pretty bad, even for a TV Show. The clouds the robber-turned-super-robber summons look straight out of Lost. That's not a good thing if you think about how many years Lost is over now.
The characters are weak. I don't know anything about The Flash or it's story, however this doesn't make me continue watching or finding out more about the comic or this show at all. The only developmen this character undergoes is pretty much from looser to looser who can run really fast. (Spoiler, ... I guess?)
Acting is pretty bad aswell. The guy playing Flash apparently can only do that one face. I watched it with the German Dub which was not very good either, whoever not terrible.
I am not expecting much at this point, so it can only go better from here on out.
This is a really awesome show !!!

This show is so damned Awful. They love to shove progressive-ism down your throat to the point where it takes away from any story line that may be there. And in all honesty, If it wasn't for Barry Allen there wouldn't be so many screwed up things in all the worlds as He causes more harm than good.
