I can see the difficulties of making a show like this during a worldwide pandemic, but ...this was marginally more interesting than an old Top Gear episode. I love all three of these guys, and I really wish for them to continue doing these kinds of things, but if this is what we can expect from now on, they might as well stop it now and leave us with the excellent memories of what used to be.
Sorry, guys. Normally you have a lot of fun, but after the first 20 minutes had about five minutes of car content and 15 minutes of tired stereotypes and insults about the French, I gave up on expecting automotive fun from this episode and shut it off. Hopefully the next episode (whenever it appears) will be back to the usual standard.
Excellent, very very funny, having been to france many times and witnessed first hand driving in france, the parking section and diving up a mountain in a Renault MPV is just so spot on ..... more please. And no, new top gear is not better, it never can be. These 3 guys and producer Andy Wilman invented the format, its their's....until they say 'no more'
They Built a merde-ing Trebuchet to use on a "car" show, in an episode about how the French engineer and think.
I wanted to write more, but that sums it up petty well and I think it rocks, if you get it.
Viewer descression is necessary.
That was hilarious! Enjoyed it a lot.
No... No... No... Unimaginative... Boring... Repetitive...
I loved Top Gear and I love Grand Tour... But waiting for so long for a new episode to get this poorly put together one...? No...
Pretty boring. Just not that great. The Grand Tour started off fine in season 1 trying to find its feet, it had its flaws but they worked through them. Season 2 and 3 were great, they got rid of the cringe and did things more naturally, it was like all the best parts of old Top Gear in one place.
Season 4 with the new "specials only" format is not great. The first two were alright but lochdown and this one have been flat. Tired, repetitive, boring and just uninspired. I know they have challenges with the pandemic to deal with but honestly Top Gear is in a really great place now and The Grand Tour is following behind like they forgot the formula.
Not a fan and it looks like a decline to cancellation unfortunately.
I can sum this up as….Meh
Kinda boring....... The newer top gear episodes are much better
Oh dear or maybe in the spirit of this episode, merde!
Absolute love the stereotype jokes lol
Some proper classic Top Gear energy here.
Delightfully pointless wanton destruction of a car one of them just doesn't like.
A madcap slightly violent race for no reason but they can (and the crew they called on to make the field were top notch fun, please have more of the French Woman and her joyous vulgarities)
Some grand and yet often pointless info about some of the cars in the episode.
And a daft 'challenge' done with no concern spared for the vehicles involved.
A real good quality fun energetic episode. More of this please.
As much as it pains me to say, the show is becoming a caricature of itself
I loved this episode. More please!!!! :joy::ok_hand_tone3:
AVOID AVOID AVOID
can you hear it?
that is the sound of scraping the barrel of career ending rubbish. it's nothing but a nudge nudge wink wink xenophobic poke at French people emboldened by brexit.
stopped after the first 10 minutes as they became boring and trite these guys are far too old and are becoming increasingly irrelevant.
much more entertaining shows out there are not worthy of my time
as a sidebar Jeremy clarkson's enormous beer belly looks really strange, God love hm but he needs to go on a detox both physical and mental
Wow, it looks like the French do indeed have quite a lot of stange(/innovative) cars :o :D
(Those one spoke steering wheels :see_no_evil:)
This could've been nice if it weren't for all of the unnecessary destruction and idiocy...
I also wonder how much of it was actually filmed in France as they often drove on the wrong side (i.e., the left).
The French also do indeed have a lot of roundabouts! I wonder if it could actually be true that half of the world's roundabouts are in France but that feels too good to be true.
I'm also interested now how much the French actually rebelled against those new motoring laws (the 80 kph speed limit definitely made it through though - coming form Germany this wasn't "fun" :D However, the bigger problem is that most of the roads are straight/boring - I did find one though that was really nice, even with 80 kph as one cannot get much faster on that winding road anyway).
Those hot hatch ads are really funny xDDD
I didn't know that the French invented motorsports but I guess it makes sense?
Looks like the second part of the car throw at the end was CGI... (at least that trajectory didn't seem realistic at all - with all of the cuts it's difficult to say for certain though).
Anyway, at least Abbie was in this episode as well (way too little screentime though :o).
I really enjoyed this episode but I consider this a comedy show and not necessarily a reflection of reality. I think that's the key. The classic nature and their response to real and almost believable covid restrictions gave it a fun feel. It is nice to see people have fun with cultural views and also surprisingly kind as well. Being of neither culture and looking in I get to see a window into two.

Haven't laughed this hard in a long time!!!!
Enjoyed every second of the show - I've got an all new respect for the French people.
