1x01 The Horror! The Cursed Imawano Family

  • 2004-10-02T15:00:00Z30m

The Imawano family move into their new home and soon discover that it's no ordinary house. The whole family start to see and hear strange things, especially Kiyoshi. What is behind the door that won't open? Why is Kiyoshi the only one who can see ghosts and can he really save the family from the crisis that his dead Grandfather has warned him about?

Kiyoshi is coming to terms with his new psychic abilities and seems to have a new room-mate, the ghost Asami.

The rest of the family discuss their various spooky encounters but conclude that there's nothing supernatural going on. Meanwhile Osamu, who has no psychic abilities whatsoever, comes up with a plan to persuade the rest of the skeptical family that the house really is haunted.

The house has also attracted a wandering priest who tries desperately to warn the occupants of their dire situation.

When Kaoruko (an old friend of Grandmother Kiwa) comes to visit, Kiyoshi immediately suspects that she's far from being the frail old lady she appears to be. With the rest of the family already under the old hag's spell, can Kiyoshi, with the help of an apparition detector and his temporarily disembodied father, save them all?

1x04 The Horror! The Cursed Portrait

  • 2004-10-23T15:00:00Z30m

Osamu causes more problems for the family when he discovers a peculiar antiques shop (with an equally peculiar owner) and brings home two items - a cursed portrait that likes a good laugh and a severed arm desperate to find the rest of its body!

1x05 The Horror! The Alien You Prefer

  • 2004-10-30T15:00:00Z30m

Fed up of being mocked by the rest of his family because he can't see ghosts, Osamu decides he'll impress them by summoning a UFO. However, when his plan actually works and a UFO does appear, he keeps it a secret and starts behaving very oddly indeed. Why is Osamu working late all the time now? Why does he have lots of new female friends and why are the 'men in black' so interested in him?

The ghost of a prostitute, Tsuyako, has been murdering male virgins! Kyoshi's Grandfather, Fuchio, who seems to know something of this woman's past, manages to stop her from making Kiyoshi her next victim. Kyoshi and Fuchio must now find her again and help the troubled spirit to find peace, as Fuchio believes he's the cause of all her torment.

Kyoko is troubled by repeated dreams of a girl dressed in black calling her a traitor. She's even more troubled when the same girl joins her class at school! The girl, Satsuko, clearly has a deep grudge against her, but Kyoko has no idea why. When Satsuko finally explains herself, Kyoko must confront frightening memories that she blocked out long ago.

1x08 True Story! Afterlife of Honor

  • 2004-11-20T15:00:00Z30m

Fed up with life in a haunted house (and finding ghost hair on his bedroom floor), Kyoshi decides to run away from home. After being beaten up and mistaken for a corpse, he ends up working as a bus boy in a very unusual hostess bar where clients are entertained by the undead. However, not everyone approves of such a place and Kyoshi once again finds himself in trouble.

Inspired by a TV show they saw, the family have a light-hearted discussion about remodelling the house. When a ghostly engineer arrives the following morning to survey the house, the house becomes a bizarre maze of rooms that seem impossible to escape from.

The Men in Black, with the help of Osamu, continue to investigate spatial anomolies. Meanwhile, Kiyoshi starts to see visions telling him that he will die in 4 days! Fortunately help arrives in the form of the priest Kyuujuurou, younger brother of Hachikuro. He tells Kiyoshi that the explanation for all the recent strange phenomena can be found in ancient scriptures stored in the mysterious 'room that will not open'.

Powerless to prevent his foretold death, Kiyoshi finds himself on the bank of the Sanzu river with fellow ghosts Asami and Hachikuro. Asami is delighted that she and Kiyoshi can now cross the river into the afterlife together but Kiyoshi has other plans. He's determined to defeat the river and somehow return to the land of the living to save his family.

When Kiyoshi's idea to walk up-stream doesn't quite go as planned, he washes ashore 300 years in the past and meets a family that seem very familiar to him. The fraudulant exorcist, Oyuu, may be able to help Kiyoshi, but first he must put right a terrible wrong that could have implications for the future generations of the Imawano family.
