The first heat of The Great Sport Relief Bake Off sees four well-known faces don their aprons in this charity special hosted by Mel Giedroyc. Baking for Sport Relief in this heat are actress Sarah Hadland, TV gardener Joe Swift, botanist and broadcaster James Wong and actress Angela Griffin. Only one baker from each heat can go through to the final. Their baking skills are tested to the limit as they face three classic Bake Off challenges - all devised by the Bake Off judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. First, the four bakers are challenged to produce a traybake. What some lack in experience they make up for in enthusiasm as they pull out all the stops. Paul and Mary surprise themselves as they mutter the words 'absolutely delicious' and 'stunning' during their first judging. Next is the technical challenge and the pressure of the competition soon starts to show as the bakers are asked to make a perfect batch of wholemeal cheese scones following a Paul Hollywood recipe. Finally, to wow the judges and win a place in The Great Sport Relief Bake Off final, they have to make a showstopping meringue dessert. In this second day of baking the competition hots up with four hours of intense baking. Novice baker, but keen cook and highly competitive, James goes all out to impress the judges with a high risk approach and Joe's lost for words when his family meringue recipe is executed so well it's described as 'superb' by Paul. Only one baker can get a place in the final. Who's got what it takes to go all the way and compete for the first ever Great Sport Relief Bake Off crown?

Heat two of The Great Sport Relief Bake Off and four more well-known personalities throw their oven gloves into the ring for this charity special. Host Mel Giedroyc and judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood are joined by renowned choreographer and dancer Arlene Phillips, Radio Four's Fi Glover, The Apprentice runner-up and now presenter Saira Khan and art historian Gus Casely-Hayford. They face three classic Bake Off challenges, starting as usual with the signature bake, where their pastry skills are under the spotlight as they tackle tricky savoury flans. Novice Arlene is amazed when her pastry is described as 'lovely, buttery and short' but the pressure shows for one who ends up with the dreaded soggy bottom. Next is the Technical Challenge set by Mary Berry. Panic sets in and Mary is not impressed when it comes to judging her banana and chocolate chip loaves. Finally, it's the Showstopper Challenge and last chance to impress. The bakers are asked to produce a layered cake with the 'wow factor'. The mood changes in the Bake Off tent as the Sport Relief bakers attempt to redeem themselves in the eyes of the judges and step up a gear. Confident and experienced baker Fi impresses with homemade caramel rippled through her icing and Saira's plan to keep it simple and execute it well works as Mary called her sponge a 'perfect bake'. Who will sink and who will rise to win a place in the Great Sport Relief Bake Off final?

The third and final heat in this Great Sport Relief Bake Off, a charity special hosted by Mel Giedroyc. The final four personalities take on more Bake Off challenges in hope of getting the last place in the grand final. Stepping up to the hotplate to have their baking scrutinized are TV presenter Anita Rani, singer turned fashion designer Pearl Lowe, BBC weatherman Alex Deakin and TV historian and archaeologist Alex Langlands. Judged by acclaimed master baker Paul Hollywood and legendary cookery writer and baker Mary Berry, the bakers start with their signature bake - a classic crumble. Paul's prediction that it's a dish that is 'easily made, but easily messed up', turns out to be true as some attempt risky, innovative twists on this most British dish. Some, however, triumph with bold, unusual ingredients, and for one lucky Sport Relief baker they hear the rare word 'stunning' slip through Paul's lips. Fear fills the tent when the dreaded technical challenge is revealed - to bake Mary Berry's own classic coffee and walnut cake. A big ask for one baker, who has never attempted to make a cake before. Finally, the bakers are asked to create 24 perfectly finished showstopping miniature tarts. A red hot chilli threatens to blow the judge's heads off, and a blowtorch to a batch of lemon meringue tarts pulls off a professional finish and a nod of approval when it comes to judging. Who will have what it takes to impress the judges and take the last spot in the final?

The competition reaches its climax as the winners of the three heats take on their final challenges before Mary and Paul must decide who is the first ever Great Sport Relief Bake Off champion 2012. The standard is high and the competition is fierce. As always, starting with the signature bake, our finalists must impress judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood with a trio of original and perfectly baked biscuits and they don't disappoint. Next the technical bake and a huge challenge as the bakers use rough puff pastry for the first time in the competition. Paul's expectations are high as he asks them to follow his recipe and produce a batch of six sausage rolls; when a near-perfect batch by all is delivered to the judging table, the competition starts to look tight. Finally, the Sport Relief bakers face their most technically demanding challenge yet - a showstopping, covered tiered occasion cake. Their offerings include a three-tiered chocolate orange cake decorated with a handmade icing tea set, a tiered lemon wedding cake decorated with sugarpaste icing and miniature handmade iced daisies, that is described by the judges as 'beautifully professional', and a romantic heart-shaped red velvet sponge tiered cake that has a 'very good bake'. Only one can be crowned The Great Sport Relief Bake Off champion 2012.
