Who said fear of ghosts? I'm afraid of the girl who says "SHHHHHHH SILENCE"
Gotta say, this is pretty meh so far. Hope it picks up in later eps.
Yes of course let's play hide-and-seek in a haunted house. What could possibly go wrong?
I like the fact that Miles has the movie poster for "The Monster Squad" fitting too because it came out in 1987, the same year that this is supposed to be taking place.
So in the sequence about the past, the image the girl who is scaring Flora when she is telling her brother Miles to come home, I think is Hannah's dead daughter? (One of the four candles that she had lit in the chapel for people she's lost). Miles seems to keep getting possessed by an older Male, shown in mannerisms when he kissed Dani's hand, brought her the flowers, tucked Dani's hair behind her ear, even the situations where he locked her in the closet, tried to choke her like he did his friend in the past.
Who is this guy that Dani keeps seeing in reflections? I don't mean the older guy whom you see quite a bit at the end of this episode but the one whose eyes seem to glow, of course now we know that it's just his round glasses which Dani still has in her possession although with a cracked lens, could it be an ex who she feels guilty for his death?
What is with Hannah acting so peculiar, never eating or drinking? And what is with these dolls that keep being alive? Including the baby doll in the cellar. Or the faceless one that gets thrown down the laundry shoot and lands on its feet upright and also later ends up moaning behind Flora when she turns around to it and shushed it? (And it obeyed her!)
Now Miles has developed from being "child acting like an adult" into the creepy adult in a child's body.
Coming at this with some (wrong?) expectations it will be somewhat drawn up like the Haunting of Hill House, I expect to see ghosts everywhere, or at least catch glimpses of them, but am I being blind or rightfully disappointed? So far, other than the Au Pair's ghost, last episode there was just that man on the parapet, and this episode the girl in the hallway, and the others being frightfully obvious, like behind Flora and then the man again?
We already “know” Flora somehow communicates with the ghosts and all that. But why and how? I'm still kind of expecting EVERYone in the whole house to actually be ghosts (and maybe "not knowing it yet"), and Dani being the only one (if at all) to be alive.
I mean if that is the big reveal, it's kind of disappointing, because it'd be so frightfully (lol) obvious.
I'm really not convinced by this season at all. Hope it gets better. Or at the least, spooky?
Miles acting very weird, but I suppose the whole point was to be sent home, so not sure we can draw conclusions from this period. However in the manor, he's clearly possessed by somebody much older, most likely Peter, that he's clearly dead and not just snooping around.
At least Flora is clearly aware of the presence of ghosts and even communicating with them.
It looks like Hannah always find an excuse to not eat ?
Can't say it was that captivating yet, but there could be some interesting ideas.
ngl this season looks really weak in comparison to hill house but i'll still give it a shot. there's something that is off about it
Tv critics said this season is slow and lacks scares. With this episode, we can see what they mean. I hope it picks up.
mmm. I like what i'm seeing. I love how Dani just charges into battle when scared, grabbing that fire poker and going straight outside.
Going in tone with the story the class was talking about with the priest. It seems the boy may have "let something in" and I believe we saw what that was at the end of this episode
This is good old fashioned scary stuff . Loving it so far .
I'm pretty sure I just saw the IT guy from The Office in a photo , what series wouldn't be improved by one of his go karting or Bruce Lee stories ??? :joy:
7/10
Good (just)
a better episode
than the first one but
not by much.
I didn't want this series to
be Just about these two
creepy ass kids,
what made
Hill House
a fcuking Masterpiece
was the Outstanding
Performances from
all the siblings, their
stories were so bloody
interesting and engaging,
you just had to know more
and oh boy did it deliver.
I'm just not feeling this
series at all something
feels off, feels amateur,
definitely a dip in production
and a downgrade in general
from "HH".
HH gave us that absolute
best of everything
and I'm just not sure what
this series has to offer
to keep me onboard,
it's a poor man's
HH in comparison
at best.
Really Hide n Seek
Great suggestion
what could possibly go
wrong there then.
Well 2 more episodes left
to make me care to stay
then I'm either
"ALL IN" or "ALL OUT"
im melted when the cute buddy Hopper said "I am here for you mate" awww is so warm
Hopefully it doesn’t have the twist of the Others where everyone are ghosts.
I like all of the characters except for Dani, Miles (an all-around creep who triggers a fight or flight reaction in me), and Flora. Jamie and Hannah are so cute, and I like their chemistry. Owen is sweet and hilarious. I also loved Father Stack, a real respectable priest and adult in general.
Miles's character and mannerisms are so disturbing given his lack of boundaries and regard for others. It is bad enough in an adult or teenage character, but seeing it in a child just really makes me cringe. I am wondering if it is due to him being possessed or something.

More creepy plague mask figure in the background!
I've figured out why the boy bothers me so much though. It's because he acts far older than he is. Much like Five from Umbrella Academy. Then a piece of dialogue this ep straight up implied he is much older?? Curious to where that will go.
Also I'm utterly charmed by the gardener :hearts:
