By far a better season than the first full of different emotions, interesting new characters, strong writing and plot and of course the amazing usual Lindelof's fictitious elements!!
A brilliant season of television. As bleak as season one but with an added layer of hope. The performances are incredible, Liv Tyler in particular is haunting. Can't wait for season 3.
An amazing season of television. Season one was decent, but season two blew me away. There were a few low points (as almost all shows have) but the performances were consistently exceptional and the writing was solid. The use of music in this show is fantastic as well. Episode 8 of this season, although not quite as emotionally gripping as episode 10, was probably one of my favourite episodes of television ever.
So far (episode 2x07) I love this season far more than first. I've read the book and during the first season I was constantly comparing them to eachother. Here we got a clean slate and the mystery, drama, pain and the 'strange factor' work out perfect. Loving it so far.
Hands down, best season of a TV show ever.
Started strong but couldn't deliver on their setups. Had a few good episodes but most of them where just ok or rehashes of season 1. This show really needs to get rid off all the cult stuff. I don't like anything with Meg, Laurie or Tom. The Murphys were great in the first few episodes but were sidelines for most of the season and the pay off didn't work for me. I want more Nora, Matt, Kevin and Jill (who was also very sidelined this season).
I hope the final season will be better.
The second season of The Leftovers continues the tale begun in the first season. Though it doesn't seem quite worthwhile at first whether or not a continuation was necessary, by the end it is made clear that it doesn't matter; the story told here is worth telling. This isn't to say that season two entirely measures up to the first season, but it's an experience of its own worth the time spent watching it.
So, why is the second season of The Leftovers simply "good" and not "great"? Well, a lot of it comes down to the way the story was told. Just like with season one, the whole is certainly greater than the sum of its parts. However, unlike the first season, a lot of character development has been traded for spectacle and more world building than feels necessary. It's difficult to feel emotion and attachment to each character when most episodes present don't seem to include every character. It's almost as if season two doesn't know, for most of it, whether it's an ensemble or a character study. In trying to do both, it doesn't always nail it.
However, when it does - and it certainly does at the end - it does it supremely well. Season two of The Leftovers isn't simply different from season one, but different from most of television available to be seen. Is this sometimes to its detriment? I would say so. But, sometimes it pays off in droves. The second season of The Leftovers takes risks that, while they don't add up to the quality of the first season, make for an extremely solid work that is undeniably refreshing and intriguing despite its flaws.

This is one of the best seasons of tv ever. Everything from the writing to the acting to the music have been stellar. This show knows how to get your emotions going. I'm so glad season 3 is coming and we will get some sort of ending.
