Well, T.S. Eliot wrote the synopsis for this season a long time ago!
"This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper"
This season is surprisingly hilarious.
This season Kevin gave me Rick from twd vibes with the beard, the jacket, the insanity, the horse!
Does anybody understand anything this season?
One of the best seasons of television ever made
Transcending the confines of genre, the third season of The Leftovers does wonders by combining the best elements of mystery, science fiction, supernatural horror, and character drama into a singular cohesive, compelling, emotional whole. The season starts strong and ends even stronger, with even the weakest episodes being worthwhile and standing on their own.
Questions aren't always answered, for better or worse. But, what is left for interpretation is more important than solving any puzzle there is to be solved. Each and every character is easy to love, no matter how flawed. Acting is superb, direction is strong, and the music composition fits wonderfully. Editing has a tendency to be overzealous - moments were cut that could have been more powerful if they were just held on. There are also a smattering of flashbacks which spoon-feed the audience a bit too much. Moreover, there are moments which feel weird for the sake of being weird or jokes that just don't fit.
Nevertheless, the third season of The Leftovers works as a great, enthralling season of television. It stands on its own, and is made even better when viewed in the context of the series as a whole. Though not always purposeful and certainly messy in parts, by the time the finale ended I didn't feel as if it needed purpose or reason. The emotion contained within is what makes season three of The Leftovers something truly special.

Criminally underrated. This is the best season of one of the greatest TV shows ever made. I was amazed at how this is not yet one of the classics, like Lost, Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad.
Thought provoking, intelligent storytelling, always surprising. The acting (Theroux and Coon are phenomenal) and the music score are seriously the best of the best. If you need an original character-driven mystery drama TV series, this is probably for you. If you are looking for a life-changing experience, then it is definitely for you.
Beware, it poses serious ethical, theological and philosophical questions. Not for the narrow minded.
