The Living and the Dead 2016

Very atmospheric gothic chiller.
Prudes be warned, there's a fair bit of flesh flashed for a period drama . . .
On a side note, I'm always amazed to hear Colin Morgan speaking in his harsh native Norn Oirish!

Uhh... wow. What a series. Definitely not what I was expecting, but it was very interesting nonetheless. The first couple of episodes felt very disjointed and became even more confusing with the whole time travel element, but the last 2 brought it all together in a very suspenseful and unexpecting way. Little Gabriel standing in dark corners will definitely give me nightmares!
Overall I liked how it wrapped up, although the seance party being completely cool with a whole ass Nathan appleby appearing from the stairs was a bit strange.
Obviously Colin Morgan was spectacular, along with Charlotte Spencer. They played off each other very well and had a good chemistry that helped the show in some of its weaker points. Loved seeing Nathan’s slow decent into madness. It was a good watch, but I can see why it may not have warranted a second season. If you have 6 hours to spare, want to see some great acting, and want something very eerie and interesting, this might be the show for you!

I really don’t know how I missed this show or never heard of it. It was a phenomenal, gripping, spooky supernatural/paranormal, suspense thriller.

Such an exciting and original plot, full of twists and turns and the ending was a complete surprise.

Brilliant cast and production too.

I honestly can’t fault it at all. I was completely hooked.

A powerful, gripping and emotional series, wrapped up in to my favourite genres.

I really wanted to love this. I love Colin Morgan, so very much, and the idea of a him in a horror/suspense themed period drama sounded great. But I just couldn't come at it, the show has fantastic bones and is rather brilliant in many episodes, but it was hard to follow at times, and difficult to see where it was going to go. Ofcourse the acting is on point, Colin is a wonder as always, but the show itself, needed work. I'm not surprised it wasn't picked up for a second season.
