The first 10 minutes was spectacular! No dialogue, just pure visual storytelling at it's finest. Also, Baby Yoda is too freaking cute.
All show, no tell - the way it should be (at times). This show is extremely refreshing so far, can't wait to see what's next.
After a really solid premiere episode, this series somehow got better. With a little bundle and fetch quest The 2nd episode is pure gold. Only complaint is that it's over too quickly. Seriously one of the best new shows of 2019
After watching the first 2 episodes, i can confidently say this is a worthy addition to the star wars franchise.
Very very Star Warsy and sometimes not so. And i mean that as a compliment.
I have spoken.
I didnt understand how 30 minutes ended! Great episode! I always find the Jawas funny and annoying but Yoda was completely stunning and adorable! Especially when eating :)) You’ll see ;))
If I don't have my own baby Yoda plush toy by Christmas, I will turn to the dark side.
[8.1/10] Another superb outing from the show. I am just loving the style and loving attention The Mandalorian’s creative team clearly puts in every frame.
Star Wars Fans: Finally, another show that just lets Star Wars be gritty and badass again!
The Mandalorian: Here’s an adorable little baby Yoda to coo and caw for twenty minutes.
Am I sap for loving that Gizmo-looking little tridactyl? The big eyes and upturned glances are clearly calibrated for maximum cuteness, but I can’t help but be manipulated by this adorable little creature reaching out for his erstwhile captor and helping to save the day.
And neither can The Mandolorian apparently! I love the subtle storytelling in this one, where initially, Mando is all-but immune to baby Yoda’s precious little charms and closes his floating metal bassinet. But then, after the tiny green infant saves his life in a fight with a desert rhino, the erstwhile cold, heartless bounty hunter just puts his hand on the cradle, rocks it a little, to make sure his passenger is ok. It’s the softest of arcs, but it is, once again, extra effective in its restraint.
But man, this episode is again awesome when it’s more blockbuster-y as well. The fight with the trandoshans is great, and just when you’re starting to think there may be some good in this outlaw, he starts disintegrating people with his rifle. The fight with the Jawas is even better, showing so much character and detail in the Jawas’ barge and how they fight back, and crafting together such great sequences as Mando tries to scale the thing and get his stuff back.
The fight with the space rhino didn’t wow me as much on a pure visual basis, though it was cool seeing Mando all caked with mud and have something get the better of him. But that sequence stands out through the intervention of baby Yoda. The show does a nice job at showing how The Mandalorian is bested and unable to do what he needs to do, and the little tridactyl almost instinctively trying to help the guy who, so far as he knows, is trying to protect him. It’s a heartening little moment, and once again, Pedro Pascal’s body language communicates everything we need to know.
I also loved the return of Nick Noltle’s ugnaught. His willingness to help Mando, his dry wit and ability to reason with the Jawas, and his refusal of fortune or servitude immediately mark him as a true Western mentor. He’s an instantly memorable part of this world, and his vaguely mystical presence helps balance the matter-of-factness of The Mandolrian.
I also appreciate the simplicity of this one. There’s a simple problem here -- while Mando was off finding baby Yoda, the Jawas looted his ship and he needs his parts back to get off the planet. The show finds plenty of ways to put smaller obstacles within that larger one, and to make the process of overcoming them personally meaningfully for all involved. But it’s refreshing not to need a convoluted plot to make that happen.
Otherwise, the texture here continues to be outstanding. It’s great to see a little more of Jawa culture, and their egg party was delightfully gross. The whole windswept desert plane vibe gives the whole episode some recognizable character, and the Western vibe continues to buoy this one.
Overall, The Mandalorian is two-for-two so far, and shows no signs of slowing down!
Even without dialogues the first scenes of this episode are so powerful visually (which is probably the exact reason why they do not need dialogues), that just those few minutes alone already made this show an instant classic in the Star Wars mithology.
Oh C'mon you gotta give us more than 30 minutes.
what kind of dagger is that ? 1 hit killed a rhino.
I loved this episode. Everything about it felt like how star was should feel. The writers and Directors have done a great Job of bringing back what everyone loves about the original films.
Visuals are amazing. Characters are engaging and I love the child!!
I hope people can see that this is a TV series and not a film. That it supposed to leave you wanting and take its time to develop.
Sadly we live in a time where everyone needs constant stimulation. So maybe this isn't for everyone, as it isn't all laserbeems and explosions. But for me who is a true oldskool star wars fan. It's Brilliant.
It looked like Baby Yoda wanted to heal him. That would be new. What about all the Yoda poo? You just know he's a little crap machine.
It's hard for me to watch TV shows; having an ADD attention span, it can feel difficult to a show across interweaving storylines, ten-plus episodes each at forty five minutes, and multiple seasons; unless it's of the highest quality, that's a lot of time for a piece of media that may only reach sufficient, but not masterful quality. And, while episode two of The Mandalorian is too soon to judge what category it will fall into, it's worth noting that the show's format and execution lend itself towards bite-size snacking, and it's a pretty tasty one, at that.
Clocking in at about half an hour long, "The Child" establishes the bond between hunter and "hunted," and the laconic bonding is strong with these two. The acclaimed Baby Yoda is charming in essentially all that he does, and it's great to see his efforts to interact wit the world around him. The Mandalorian himself spends the majority of "The Child" making sense of him, as well as fighting anything and everything. The chase sequence with the Jawa's is fun, although does introduce some early questions of "How do you survive this?"
The majority of "The Child" does feel like a diversion, but at least it's a well-executed one; there are no other storylines to be taken away to, and the action and high production design make this world easy to pay attention. The ending creature fight (I don't quite know enough Star Wars terms to get this one) is enjoyable, and continues to strip the titular character of any perceived notion of invincibility. It's Baby Yoda that saves this one, even if the ending feels a tad cheaply contrived.
"The Child" continues the savagery I was hoping to see from the Star Wars universe, with more on the horizon. It continues to lay the foundation for a solid series of what looks to be a more mystical, mature Star Wars.
Okay, first of all the music in this show is amazing. Secondly, so far there's a certain simplicity to it which I wasn't sure about in the beginning but which is growing on me. I mean, the plot and dialogue has been so stock/cliché if not predictable so far but this goes very well with a vibe which I can only describe as... whimsical, maybe? Just coming out of Rise of Skywalker, which is also full of clichés and predictability, which sometimes works but too often made me think "you're trying too hard," The Mandalorian seems to me to lack that desire to shock and surprise and overwhelm with emotional moments and instead simply says: "I know what I am, and it's fine." It seems genuine, somehow, because it doesn't seem to try too hard - or, you know, really much at all. I hope the next episodes are just as good!
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wowww.
I somehow liked the first episode better, it seemed to me that it was a bit pointless and illogical of the Mandalorian to chase the thieving creatures as he did not really have a chance to defeat them as he was seriously outnumbered, I don't know what he wanted to achieve in this way as this could not have lead him to recover his gear. Later on, he and his new friend manage to fix the spaceship so that it looks almost brand new, which also does not seem realistic to me as they lacked the necessary equipment. Baby Yoda is sweet and there is some sort of bond developing between the two, though what bothers me is that Mandalorian didn't think that the little one has to eat or drink something and failed to feed him. The baby seems to possess magical powers the use of which drains its energy seriously, put making the rhino creature levitate possibly cost the baby a lot of mana ;) In the end it looks like it recovered though. The Mandalorian goes monster hunting like the witcher, though it turns out that he is not so good at that as he supposed, and he could have been defeated had it not been for the baby's help. But maybe he hadn't drunk the right elixirs before the fight :) Apparently Geralt is still the best monster slayer in the fantasy land.
This episode was so dumb it's like a cartoon.
The visuals are absolutely stunning so far so good i love it
This is what Star Wars should feel like. I’m loving this series and that child too! My God, he’s the cutest baby I’ve ever seen. I have spoken. THE MANDALORIAN: A SPACE NANNY STORY.
First episode was giving me a western vibe, this episode I couldn't stop thinking of Lone Wolf and Cub ... which I want more of.
This episode kind of spins it’s wheels. I like the emphasis on non-dialogue storytelling but it doesn’t do too much with that opportunity.
Starts like a 'lonewolf & cub' movie (AKA: Baby cart at/ Shogun assassin )
Lovely nods towards them movies throughout the episode.
Another good episode, feels like it's over in 10minutes
So it’s going to be a silent start I see. Feels like a silent movie. haha love the space western feel.
Dang I don’t remember peeps getting disintegrated from one shot.
Awww the the Child is so cute!!!!
Awe snap is the little guy going to heal the Mandalorian? Dang bro read the room. The little guy trying to help.
Once again the visuals are spectacular!!
Man a brother could use some dialogue now. haha
Love when Kuiil says I have spoken. haha Just waiting for the right time to use it on my girl.
Mannnn this is so f’d up!! He really trading for his own stuff. Classic case of strength in numbers. haha lol @ saying Mando speaks Jawa like a wookie.
Better be a golden egg in that cave. just saying!!
Damnnnnn Mando is taking a beating. Wtf do Mandalorian’s have extra tough bones?
Oh yeah the little guy bout to flex I can feel it. lol. Finally little guy showed a little something.
The hell!!!!! All that for a yummy snack!!! haaaaaaaa They are going to town on that egg like zombies. haha
Man they put this awesomeness out in thirty minutes increments. I need an hour. haha
Not having all episodes available sucks!! Weekly is for regular tv! Yes I am spoiled!! haha
I love how goofy and intimate it is!
The visual storytelling here is immaculate - very little spoken dialogue at all in this episode, hell none within the first 10 minutes at all. Rick Famuyiwa is a ridiculously talented director and he was a great pick for the show, particularly with his focus on close ups. Despite wearing a helmet all the way through, The Mando himself is a character that has a lot thematically going on. And The Child itself is the key that holds it together, even if it's clear that it's cuteness is manufactured to be as likable as possible.
And yeah, it's cute alright. In fact, it's cute enough that it threatens to steal the entire show away from the Mando in a good way. And while the short runtime of the episode doesn't allow for a lot of development on either plot or character front, the real treat is the continuously gorgeous cinematography and fantastic performances.
This feels like a videogame, not like TV show. And seriously, what do you need Pedro Pascal for? You could just any stuntman wearing a helmet do the same job.
Amazing, even better than the first episode. Since there’s more story and a ton of terrific action.
These 30min episodes are over before they begin sadly. This TV show needs, no, deserves AT LEAST 45min episodes.
It was a fun one we see Mando getting back parts from the Jawas and he has to get some egg from rhino from them. The action is epic and like too good. Also more BABY YODA please! Alsso that old guy who says "I have spoken" is so good, I hope we see him in future episodes!
So people are not adressing what I thought was obvious.
Yea it's mentioned how we have a large portion ust be exposition instead of dialogue, great, I love that.
But when the dialogue is terribel what gives.
I felt this episode had so mant times of wtf??? I guess I'll only surmise a few of em
* pedro climbs the jawa craft, and they make tons of halfassed attempts at sidduading him, even after he killed 5-10 of em. and at the end when he's got them, they just toast him anwayway, with fortune they already had, it is so dumb.
* He kills like 10 jawa but they're not only open for trade after, they let him in the cockpit, also later on they treat one egg-capture as the ultimate value. Okay so thery suck at value, but they squander the content of the egg, and barely consider it's acutal value.
* wat. Maybe that's jawa culture? seems cheap if so.
* baby yoda has his visor open so many times without reason, when the mandalrioan want's him safe. Also there's like 4 times we see baby yoday open the canopy casuallly without the mandalorian wanting it to happen.
* Dude just basic shit says this is dumb, ask your nextdoor deighoubor.
* The eggmonster, wtf? huge beast, cannot hurt our protaganist. always hits hits him with its chin, never the horn, why does it have a horn?
* oh so suddenly baby-yoda has the cannopy open cos it needs to show its stop the derp-and save our hunter, fine, but it goes back to our previous points.
Most of these re-occurs in this episode and are r eally obviouss.
I think I only touched on a few of the issues, I'm ususally the dude to like "what"? and don't really care. But at this poiint everyone is hailing it as the next sophies choice and it's terrible
I’m really enjoying this, so far. My only complaint would be the lack of a John Williams score. The music is lackluster but the production shines in all other respects.
8.5/10
Sensational
Loved the part with
the Jawas that looked
like so much fun,
not sure what Mando's
EndGame was but i
was laughing all the way
through and the fact he
put so much effort into
doing it only to come up
short. Cool episode,
much fun to be had,
Baby Yoda flexing and
our friend is back to once
again help Mando out.
I didn't think the repaired
ship would look as good as
New like that though
because that baby was
stripped down to it's
framework which would have
taken weeks to repair with
the right equipment.
Other than that really
Loved the episode and I
really loving this show.
"I Have Spoken".
Mando Rewatch
I never thought fighting Jawas could be so much fun until I watched this episode for the first time, back in 2019.
Wow. I am really enjoying this show. I don't know what else I could say.
The part with the Jawas was so awesome and funny. Can't wait for the next episode.
Each episode just whet my appetite for more. I both wish and don’t wish I could binge because it would be gone too soon.
The baby not Yoda is damn cute.
TV show that structured as videogame... so far working pretty well! Too bad only those types of media are properly suited for stories like this one. Looks beautiful, music is pretty much perfectly fit the narrative.
As for Star Wars part - I don't really care or like the franchise apart from "A New Hope" and "The Force Awakens" maybe half of "The Last Jedi". But it doesn't really matter here. It's a very simple story so far at least. That could have worked even with regular hitman on Earth)
episode is only 28 minutes without the credits and only 30 minutes with them what a complete waste of time having such a short episode. thought ladt weeks was short enough but this was a joke

after watching the second episode in the series I now have hope that the Star Wars franchise is not commonly stained by the recent movies. I trust that the rest of the series will unfold even better than the first two. I have spoken
