The Morning Show 2019

I liked this trailer when the show was first released- lots of renowned name actresses- but it's an overwritten, watered-down version of Newsroom. Without the intellectual criticisms of democracy, (and rants about the demolishment of the tea party!!) and without a Will McAvoy to lead the ship. And did I mention both Anniston and Reese play fairly unlikable difficult characters? That could be a plus in my book, (difficult women? hooray!) but here it's less of a plus, they're just difficult enough to be annoying, but not damaged, charismatic, or disturbed enough to divvy up the balance by adding plot friction.

Well, it's not a comedy. It's trying hard to give some "hot takes" on issues that are pretty darn cold. Bradley's rant in particular in the pilot about coal, and protest culture, and political cycles really wasn't viral-video worthy and though I got the sense it was supposed to get me on her side, it just made me lose respect for her.
I am interested to see where Mitch's story goes, though: he seems to jump back and forth between "guy who didn't know he was doing anything wrong" and "misogynist creep", and I want to hear how his story compares to his accusers'.

The typical Hollywood woke bullsh..!

Like most of Hollywood releases, it’s a bunch of pretty people with ugly politics. Writers need to keep all the pandering out of entertainment and just let us be entertained. We have news, talk, and radio for all the divisive messaging. I expect more from Apple, but know to expect this type of BS.

Season 1 was a great watch, Season 2 wasn't bad, but Jennifer Aniston was horrible. She can't act.

So this is how the elite white liberals in US news media live and talk. This is almost a caricature of what an average conservative would think of what a liberal in a city seems like. The dialogues are so cringe omg. The plot is so amazingly dumb. Aniston and Witherspoon are so annoying. None of the characters are likeable. Do any real person even remotely talk in a way these characters talk to each other?

What A Great Show  great acting from lovely actors
Must seen

The season is incredibly boring. The story never picks up speed.
I had to struggle from episode to episode. I'm not watching a second season.
The performance of Aniston sucks. The rest of the cast plays well.

Surprised people seem to not like it as much as I do. For context, I am a late 30s white male and usually get annoyed by thrown in your face gender politics but this didn't do that to me. Amazing acting and I was intrigued with all 3 episodes so far. Guess I am blind to something others can see. I also feel like it is trying to give both sides to all stories. Just watch the amazing actors do their thing.

I really loved the dynamics between characters. There were moments you wanted to throw something at the screen, moments you actually felt the injustice and abuse and wanted to react. And one of the strongest moments for me was when Alex (Jennifer Aniston) finally cracks on air and goes full swing. Totally worth my time! Awaiting the next season.

It's not perfect. There's some tremendous dialogue that Jennifer Aniston just falls flat with on a few occasions, and I had a hard time believing Reese Witherspoon cast as the plucky underdog reporter.

Irrespective, it's really well written. I enjoyed the complexity of it. The narrative was cynical yet fresh on the subject that has had every other hot take on it done to date.

Well worth a look. Really enjoyable.

At first, I thought the show would only be about the life of The Morning Show’s cast and crew but the bigger theme is about sexual misconduct and the silence associated with it in a workplace environnement. And that’s really good because we, as a society, need that.

For me the MVP of this show are Billy Crudup as Cory and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Hannah. Cory’s character is so well written and played. Most funny, likable and unlikable character at the same time. And Gugu’s performance toward the end is :clap::clap:

Other than the all-star casting which makes for a worthwhile watch on its own, the plot and idea for the series is pretty great and entertaining, however, its not a unique one-off plot. It follows the drama behind the scenes of a big TV news network; in essence watching a show about a show and the actors. If you want drama about all of today's common issues and topics like minority rights, COVID, woke, ect, this is a very fun watch. But the cherry on top is the filming and the intensity of each dramatized moment drawing the audience as close to the characters as possible. And the show starts right off in the heat of a very dramatic happening to the so called TV network.

s1 was ok , s2 same shit. drama anxiety repeating.

If want drama chaos (as if u dont have in ur life) , then watch it.
if u have anxiety or shit , don't watch it.

i just watched s2 for the sake of just mark as completed in trakt.

I can't stand it.. just dropping.

I really enjoyed this show! It was gripping, had a great story worth telling. Great acting from everyone! And good character development! Absolutely loved the last episode!

This could be a decent show if they replaced Aniston with a good actress

I'm very suprised by this show. I never expected that this show would be so good. I thougth ... yes, "big" actors and lots of excersive advertising from Apple. Bla bla bla. But holy shit, the acting, the camera rides (like Birdman) and the story is really great. And then there was Billy Crudup with his stupid grin.

I am very curious if the 2 season can keep up this level and if i as a spectator will be knocked off my socks once again. We will see ...

A really amazing tv show. Well made and so surprised to find both Aniston and Carell as such great serious actors. Same with Witherspoon and basically all of the cast. The story is heartbreaking and I can only warmly recommend this show.

Became to woke and false narrative driven…

Wow. This show is a ride. I'm surprised I like it as much as I do. The supporting cast is amazing and strong to a one, led by the eminently watchable Billy Cruddup—he saves the show, really. Muscular support cast aside, the show is lumpy and uneven, with ludicrous, over-the-top histrionics by the two female leads that serve no real purpose. As much as Cruddup and co. buoy the production, Jennifer Aniston is nearly unwatchable. As co-lead (and co-host), Reese Witherspoon is more dull than hysterical, but her breakdowns are equally annoying, though less frequent. The supporting ensemble is too numerous to cite individually, but the show's strength lies therein. Each team member brings their own unique gravitas and wisdom without resorting to blase caricatured cliches. I have problems with the too-condensed "me too" narratives and perhaps an over-emphasis on the all-sides glimpse. But overall, I do end up caring for the team. Too bad, though, Alex Levy hadn't been taken out in the Italy car crash.

It's probably just me, because the show gets so many good comments, but as far as I'm concerned, the first season was kind of okay, with mainly strong performances from Steve Carrel and Reese Witherspoon. Season 2 however feels really unnecessary and gets worse by the episode. The more I see Jennifer Aniston struggling to get any emotion out of her face, the more annoyed I get.... Apple tv has a lot of good shows, this one should be retired as soon as possible in my opinion!

i love this serie.

Why have Mitch died, i do not understand it? He is the best in this serie.

I'm officially sold on this show. There are some beautiful shots in this which alone make it worth it. Combine that with the all-star cast that keeps delivering that top notch drama, and you have a winner in my book. Especially Cory (portrayed by Billy Crudup) is an absolute joy to watch. What an amazing character and performance.

I get why not everyone likes it, it gets a bit political at times, but the way they show all the different perspectives about modern issues just works for me (most of the time). It's one of my favorite ATV+ shows.

This is like a bad version of newsroom. Highly overrated. For new actors the roles of Mitch and Alex would be an immediate career end. Who came up with that garbage?

The Morning Show is pure human chaos at an extraordinary and passionate level. It's hard to watch at times, but incredibly difficult to forget.

This show is a slow burner. Very hard to follow in the beginning, it actually picks up nicely towards the end.

Apart from the stellar cast and good performances (Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carell and Billy Crudup over everyone else), The Morning Show should mainly be regarded for tackling the #MeToo issue in a very compelling way, showing many different angles and shades of predatory behaviour, cancel culture and power moves. And not just painting the black and white world of victims and executioners that oftentimes has been depicted, but a very grey area which needs reflecting upon.

Also, Jennifer Aniston should stick to comedic roles, she has a way to be hilarious even in the darkest moments of the show.

loading replies

This show is easily summed up: EXHAUSTING.

loading replies

Ok, I'm stopping to watch this 5 episodes in.

It shows fabulously how #metoo works. Listen to the women and people who support whatever the claim is. Don't let the alleged perpetrator even get a word in, if he forces one in: Don't listen and if you have to, at least don't believe anything he is saying.

He will probably be guilty at the end, since this is a show.

At the same time the makers accuse men of misogyny they convert a show having a female and a male perspective into a female-only show - not seeing that this is just as sexist as if they converted it into a male-only show.

Call me old fashioned, but I still believe in innocent until proven guilty, which is the opposite of what this show seems to be about.

I'll still give it a 4/10, since the acting is exceptionally good - sad it had to be wasted on this.

Im really surprised alot of people didnt like this, i loved this more then most other shows on tv. This is much better then any shonda rhimes show with the exception of scandal because that was great. The cast was amazing and i really loved the chemistry between everyone.

loading replies

Now this is what I call a great show. It's always a thrill when Alex loses her shit. You should watch this, unless you are a sexual predator.

interesting show so far. Episode 8 was not really needed and was really a filler episode they could have done in a flashback. Also they have the main presenters going to all these disaster areas which doesn't happen in any morning news tv show I've ever watched so seemed a bit silly.
In terms of characters Aniston's and to a degree Carell's have the most fleshed out characters while Witherspoon's, Crudup (Cory) and Duplass (Chip) are very one dimensional and Reese's character as a 40 year old 'I will be righteous and save the world' character is just very unrealistic. The same goes for the character of Cory who just appears positive, nice and yet somehow wanting to take over a media business all at the same time.

Pretty underwhelming so far. But the company is all about marketing. So no wonder.

Once I started watching it, I couldn't stop until I was caught up, and then, was avidly anticipating the next episode dropped. It's just that good! The acting is great. The cast is accomplished, both stars and supporting performers give meaningful performances. The story is well defined. Do not be mislead, this is a serious drama. I can't say enough good things about it. Apple+ has set a high bar for itself with this inaugural series. I give it a 9 (superb) out of 10. [Drama].
