The Name of the Rose 2019

It is definitely a different sort of adaptation than the 80s film, but I quite enjoyed this. It was the first version I saw after reading the book, and I felt that it was overall decently faithful to the source material -- but what really made it shine is how it brought the world of the book alive visually. The actors were good choices as well and played their parts. The music was appropriate and stunning; the opening theme is one I revisit often. Of course, no adaptation can quite capture the philosophical nuances of the book, but for an adaptation, you have to expect some sacrifices. Book fans, don't judge this one too hastily.
