In 2015, the cast of The Next Step began an eight-week, sold-out, coast-to-coast tour across Canada. For the fortunate fans who had tickets to those sold-out performances it was a chance to see their favourite dancers in person. But what would it be like to have the best seat in the house and a backstage pass?
Rehearsal is under way for a very special holiday performance of The Nutcracker. Piper feels invisible after James and the original A-Troupe return to TNS and wishes she never came to the studio in the first place. Her wish is granted when Giselle, as a fairy, appears and guides her through a Piper-less studio. It’s a very different TNS where A-Troupers from past and present are almost unrecognizable. Piper realizes the ripple effect her life has had on the studio, but it may be too late after Alfie reveals his plan to turn TNS into a luxury hotel.
Piper scrambles to reignite the love of dance in everyone before she’s trapped in the alternate timeline forever. After enlisting Finn’s help to gather the new A-Troupers, Piper sets her sights on triggering happy memories for the original A-Troupe and reuniting James and Riley.
As we all know, A-Troupe and Richelle united to disqualify themselves from Dancemania but WHAT IF Summer auditioned as a soloist and made it to the final, winning season 13 thereby changing the trajectory of all of their lives? Where does that leave The Next Step 5 years down the road?
