I think the strength in this series will lie with the way the story stacks the odds from the first minute on. They seem insurmountable... I can't wait to watch more.
Like some of the other commenters said - the deck has been really stacked. It was painful to watch the night unfold, to see every piece of evidence that will be used against him laid out bit by obvious bit.
Still though, it was intense and kept my interest for a very slow burn of 1 hour and fifteen minutes.

Whole episode I was like oh no, don’t go to the party, don’t take the taxi, go back go back go back OH NO. Amir bailing out on the party was like the universe’s way of stopping Nas but he was like nothing can stop me.
And I just don’t know what comes next for him cause literally all the evidence points to him, cameras, dna, witnesses, the murder weapon, everything, obviously you can see the flaws of the legal system and how those cops didn’t follow the procedure but I can understand how he looks guilty guilty guilty.
Also it infuriated me so much how those cops just got him on the back of the squad car just because, they didn’t arrest him, they didn’t read him his rights, he wasn’t drunk (they didn’t even do the alcohol test) like HOW IS THAT LEGAL???
Prepare to suspend your disbelief for most of the episode. I like the premise, I like the storytelling. There's just too many convenient happenings that got Naz to where he is.
Not calling 911, running back into the house, keeping the knife, driving bad enough to get pulled over, not kicking Andrea out of the car to begin with, etc.
It just might be too many things for a critical mind to let go of to enjoy the show. I'll continue watching since I like underdog stories, but I'm hoping it gets a lot more believable.
I watched this with my fan and they really enjoyed it. I think it's a great start but hard to gauge whether it will be an amazing series, as it's rather slow burn. So, I'll stick with it to see how everything unfolds.
Just watched it it's pretty good I have to see how everything goes before I recommend it to so one else . But I'm watching the second episode now
For this kind of genre, the pilot was pretty much the same old, same old. I don't understand the hype. After American Crime and American Crime Story, I was expecting much more from a HBO's series
