Where TVD becomes slightly more boring per episode, The Originals is getting better and better.

I beleive this to be one of the best drama on TV and certianly one of my all time favourites. The characters are fantastic and the acting is immersive.

what a nice surprise this show turned out to be. I don't like TVD so I haven't been paying attention to anyone telling me to watch this. one night I couldn't sleep and it was just there on netflix... so far I loved season 1 and liked season 2 (should have been shorter) . I'm probably going to binge watch the rest over the weekend.
I can barely handle all the mushiness or crying in Vampire Diaries. Klaus is bad ass even when he is complaining about this or that. I gave up on Vampire Diaries when Elena erased her feelings for Damon. I knew he'd come back and more drama would happen.
There's just something much better about this show.
One random day I was looking for a new show to watch, stumbled onto this show that had a neat darkish poster/fanart. Without looking at anything or knowing what the show was about I loaded up the first episode... crap I thought, another Vampire show. I finished that first episode, then the next, and the next... I couldn't stop watching. This show took me by surprise! Not only was I enjoying it, I feel like it is one of my favorite shows I have watched so far.
Even if you do not like vampire shows, I feel like this is still worth a watch.

I have watched 6 episodes so far and I just can't get invested in it... I like TVD more at the moment, because that's campy and that's why I watch it. The Originals tries to loose the campy factor and wants to be more serious, but I I want "more serious" I got other shows I prefer.
I worry that i'm giving up too soon, but at the moment I can't find a reason to continue.
MY THOUGHTS ON THE ORIGINALS:

What an absolutely brilliant and beautiful journey this was. From start to finish I was in love and absolutely adored every single character and every plot point. Looking back I honestly don't think there's a single character that I disliked to the point where they were engraved in my mind. Every character played their role and had importance, even if I wasn't the biggest fan of them.
Like most fans I watched The Originals because of The Vampire Diaries. I held The Vampire Diaries in quite high regards so having a spin off being made was not only great but it was also scary because I was worried whether it would live up to The Vampire Diaries or not. Surprisingly... It did, in fact it surpassed the expectations and became a completely separate identity from it and became it's own show. The characters were loved for who they are and the show became it's own masterpiece and I will always be in awe at how they managed to pull this off.
When it comes to the characters I will always hold them very close to my heart. Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah in particular. Elijah and Rebekah are two of my favourite characters in literally any TV Show and I will 100% name my children after them both. No characters in any show have had the impact or influence over me like they have and I will always remember them.
The only downfall was the ending, was it a bad ending? No. Was it a gut wrenching, heart breaking, soul destroying ending? Yes. I am so upset Klaus and Elijah passed but my god it was done so beautifully. I really hope they're in a happy place together, with their most important thing... Family.
Overall I will ALWAYS love this show. I'll hold it extremely close to my heart and I will ALWAYS recommend it to people.

I stopped watching TVD somewhere in season 4 because the plot was not making any sense as it goes on. But TO, it's always unexpecting and thrilling. I love it!

The only problem was killing Elijah. Since many vampires are still sired to him, shouldn't they die off? I only mention because of the upcoming sequel. I know that Klaus's sire was severed in a previous season. Not consistent. Should have kept him alive.
I loved the Vampire Diaries but truly hated all of the originals and all of their story lines. I basically just wanted them all dead so the TVD could move on. So when The Originals spin-off happened I was happy that they would be gone and I'll never be bothered with them again.
So now in May of 2018, when I read that an Originals spin-off is coming I thought " If the Originals is good enough to garner a spin-off then I might have been wrong about them".
So here I am, nearly 6 years late, over half way through season 1 and loving it.
Episode 2 was great though.
It's sad that season 5 is the final season.

OMG! YAASS!! I freaking LOVE the originals!
My wife really likes TVD and ice watched some of it with her because I liked the overall world but the story was starting to get annoying to me. I always liked the Originals and now that they've got their own show we're getting more of that story and so far none of the constant mushy that was killing TVD for me. in about half way through the first season and loving it so far.

The vampire diaries can end any time now that the Originals are here. TVD is a good show, but they can't stay 17 forever.

I'm so happy they have their own show. The actors and the characters are amazing.
