The Peripheral 2022

What a great pilot episode and a good surprise from Amazon Prime! The storyline is captivating and effects are great! So far so good :100:

A refreshing departure from the typical formulaic Sci-Fi, and it seems like it may go somewhere special. Do yourself a favour and check it out if you haven't already.

A nice one for the Sci-Fi lovers. It has high quality CGI with fine story. Recommended. 7.5/10

Read the book some years ago. As far as I can remeber the show is near that. I liked it. Solid 8.
Read the book! Its a really good one from Gibson.

loading replies

Cool Concept, too bad the show kinda sucks.

loading replies

They should have dropped all the unnecessary subplots and drama and made it into a two hour movie

loading replies

First episode was very promising, but it was all downhill and wated potential from there. Bland, boring, and increasingly uninteresting with every episode. A real shame.

loading replies

WTF, again another canceled Scifi show? This is disgusting. This madness has to end. Fucking producers steal our time and leave us with cliffhangers.

loading replies

I really enjoyed this premise but am very sad to see that the show has been cancelled due to the writers strike currently going on. Hoping that this show is picked up again by someone to finish the story.

I wouldn’t bother starting this show and watch it since you’ll never get closure on the storylines.

[Prime Video] Has elements too similar to "Westworld" but less attention-grabbing. In the first part, the characters are well introduced and it creates a mystery that is interesting, but as it develops, it seems that it never ends up specifying its path, as if it were thinking more about the next season than the current one. And we discover an artifice wrapped in a sci-fi fantasy that is actually profoundly empty, even with characters taking center stage only to play secondary roles as the story unfolds.

Four episodes in and so far I've nodded off during every one....yawn!

loading replies

I have to leave it... it's so complicated, it doesn't take a break to understand something and create interest
In the third episode and I can not follow nor grow interest in any plot.

loading replies

Great sci-fi show all around. Good visuals, acting, plot, action. Well paced. Nice to see red necks portrayed as smart bad a$$es for once! Can’t wait for season 2.

loading replies

A ‘Westworld’ replacement with elements of ‘Ready Player One’, the ‘Reacher’ TV show season 1, and the ‘Tenet’ movie.

loading replies

Weak sauce!
Don't get fooled by the first episode, it starts good...really good I have to say, but then it goes into free fall.
Had potential but it turned into a waste of time.

loading replies

This should have been a 2 hour movie, instead of 8 frickin 1 hour episodes that were stretched with so much padding that I fell asleep in the middle of every single episode. This is so unfortunate, given the high picture quality of the show.

loading replies

It would have been good if they didn’t end it with a cliffhanger and cancelled the series.

loading replies

Oh fucker it got cancelled? What a bunch of wankers they are up at producer land.

loading replies

It's an interesting concept but still a bad show. Peripheral is more like listening to a drama podcast than an actual TV show.
The Picket plotline seems out of place and pointles. Like it actually belongs in another show.

The S1E8 credits scene (Klept warning Zubov) was hilarious because what a waste of time and money that was. It should have anything else than what we got.

Nothing in the last episode/scene/credit scene made me think that S2 will be worth watching.

Our little girl Chloë Grace Moretz is all grown up from the 'Kick Ass' days but she's still kicking ass in this scifi series and she's playing the part well. As with all the primary cast kudos to the casting crew.

The Peripheral is a mix of real-time and 'virtual time' and without giving anything away it isn't hard to (not like WestWorld became), follow.

The other characters have good backstories, and as I'm writing this with ep6 under my belt, there is a lot to keep you interested not just the main Flynne (Chloë) thread.

If you like sci-fi with an original story plot with hints drawing from the likes of 'Matrix', 'Ready Player One', 'Free Guy' and 'Westworld' then you need to give 'The Peripheral' a look. I'm quite impressed as it's tight, SFX are good and the story is coming along very nicely.

The only thing I found distracting is the lack of Flynne wearing a pendant (when you watch it you'll understand). it's got my solid 8 to 8.5

Nicely complicated. Very attractive sets and people. Drama, action, mystery and thrill. What's not to like?
Except they could take a little more time explaining their multiple stubs and timelines, their implications and consequences.

loading replies

A worthwhile watch and fantastic work from all the cast!

Little side note, Gary Carr (who plays Wilf) is unbelievably attractive, wow

loading replies

I love Sci-fi movies and series, couple first eposides were ok and then starts going weak, super boring.

loading replies

I’m loving the first episode. Where can I get a hover Roomba?

loading replies

Starts well but by episode 3 its over complicated and dragging, episode 4 it gets really boring and I dont care anymore. Pity really as its from such a good book.

Another good show from Amazon. So far some of my favorite shows are from Amazon, Reacher, Thr Boys, The terminal List, Jack Ryan, Wheel of Time and Rings of Power.

The Peripheral just become one of those. Based on a great sci fi book and with good actors and a good adaptation (in my opinion). If you like sci fi and action don't miss it, at least the first two episodes were awesome.

Watching this in VR adds an unsettling layer...

loading replies

Let's have 30 seasons of Kardashians but 8 episodes for something good. Truly don't get it.

loading replies

This is definitely the best thing I have watched this year.

Could very well be the show of the decade.

loading replies

It's very meta. Let's see where it leads, to a first-person shooter or a mind-bending plot.

loading replies

Excellent show with good acting and production values. Bummer that Amazon Studios decided to cancel it due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

loading replies

This is one of those.cases where I don't really see what other people saw in this show. I liked the action sequences and the cinematography was beautiful, but the story was...boring. I don't know if it's just because it's not my usual genre, (I prefer more fantasy to sci-fi)

But looking past that I think some of the acting was borderline terrible. The series did get slightly better as it went but it was obviously cancelled so I won't ever know if the potential this show had could have eventually come to fruition because this season remains mediocre.

loading replies

WTF they cancelled the show. So disappointing. I guess this show didn’t have enough work elements and gay scenes to be able to get another season.

loading replies

This one is pretty good!

loading replies

First half of the series is great and very engaging. Second half becomes more and more complex ending in lacklustre confusing finale.
6/10

Oh, boy. It was a mess already. Disregarding the obvious plot holes for a good story, it's an okay plausible enough near future, except everybody has the personality of a highschool clique. A ridiculous far future, where everybody is subtle as in a highschool play. Endless overly artificial dialogue and exposition. The female lead keeps doing the same frozen plagued and puzzled face like a medical condition. The new British aristocracy that is the tasteless chumps idea of class. And when it's already stupid belief, that effing inspector that couldn't be more silly if she was wearing a boa of live ducks. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. It's so bad it's good but then it's so bad that it becomes painful again.

loading replies

This was renewed for a 2nd season. Don't know why it Says 's ended ? This app tv tracker is getting dumb

loading replies

Two years ago saw its original book in library during parttime and knew is gonna visualize by Jonathan Nolan!
Then the show comes out and is way more complex and thrilling than expected:laughing:
Hope next season they gonna explain moree cuz like the last ep is definitely too many information to handle lol

And out of topicly, Im longing to play this kind of simulation game in real life someday!

loading replies

Oh oh… J. Nolan & time.. Ying & Yang, salt & pepper.

This show surprised me, I decided to try it because I didn't have anything else to watch. And it turned out to be great.

It has a rather slow start but it picks up the pace rapidly. And even though the overall plot might be a bit confusing, the individual segments of scenes are fascinating and entertaining.

I like most of the characters in the show, at first they are written as cliché stereotypes but very quickly it's easy to see that it's not the case and they are really deeper than what it seems. For example, the brother, who at first seems just your typical not-so-bright hustler with get-rich-quick schemes will undoubtfully step into something too serious for him to handle and will need his talented sibling to bail him out. Even when some small side characters really are the cliché they seem to be, their dialog is written so well that they still manage to entertain and captivate.

I liked Chole since "Kick-Ass" I thought she'll go on to do great things, but this is the first project with her that I really like. (Besides Kick-Ass)

Definitely want a season 2. One of the more unique scifis I’ve seen in a while. The acting was good, the fighting was awesome. My only complaint is the romance. Did not like. Felt forced. But if it’s any consolation it wasn’t depicted a lot throughout the show which might contribute to why I felt forced. Either way a couple looks, touches, and sync ups a romance does not make.

loading replies

Really disappointed with this show. If you feel it’s going nowhere after the first 3 episodes I would suggest giving up as it really doesn’t get any better!

Very clichéd, in the future most Americans are ex-military who like nothing better than killing people, or white hillbilly, drunken drug dealers but at least getting a doctors appointment is no problem, while in London no one can act, you have to be Black, Asian, Scottish or Irish and preferably gay, oh how the BBC and British media would love that! The one white English male left has to, obviously, be a psychotic lunatic as with tradition, and have a psychotic offspring. It’s all set up for season two which I suspect we will give a miss!

:heart:x7
Not a bad little show. Of course it feels like it ends right in the middle of a sent....

Which I guess is a good thing as I am now invested in the show and want to see where season 2 takes us.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

loading replies

Amazing first season, can't wait what season 2 will bring.

loading replies

Where is Season 2?!! We want it now! ^_^

loading replies

First class series with a great cast, great acting and an interesting story. One of the best series I've seen in ages, great main theme music too! Chloe Moretz delivers a really outstanding performance as the main lead. Looking forward to season 2!

loading replies

Love this show. So interesting and twisty. I am truly pissed that they ended the show with such a cliffhanger. I was so excited to see coming seasons. Screw Amazon.

loading replies

loving this show, i hope it won't end like Westworld… :type_1_2:

loading replies

Checked this out because of Chloe and I love interesting sci-fi concepts such as this one. But so far (Ep 5) it hasn't really gripped me.

loading replies

Another masterpiece from Nolan. Awesome!
